What does legendary mean in Magic?

Legendary is a supertype used on important characters, places, artifacts, and other unique permanents. Under the legend rule, if you control two or more legendary permanents with the same name, you choose one to keep and put the rest into their owners' graveyards.

Jodah, the Unifier rewards casting legendary spells, Heroes' Podium strengthens legendary creatures while helping find more of them, and Plaza of Heroes provides mana and protection specifically for legendary permanents.
