Historic is a game term encompassing artifacts, legendary cards, and Sagas. Historic decks use cards that reward casting, controlling, or otherwise interacting with any combination of those three card types.
Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle turns historic spells into creature recursion, while Daring Archaeologist grows as you cast them. Even legendary lands are historic permanents, although playing a land does not count as casting a historic spell.
