What is cycling in Magic?

Cycling is an activated ability that lets you pay a cost and discard the card with cycling to draw another card. This makes cycling cards unusually flexible, since an unhelpful card can simply be exchanged for something new.

Drannith Stinger turns repeated cycling into direct damage, Drake Haven converts discarded cards into flying Drake tokens, and Astral Drift uses cycling triggers to temporarily blink creatures.
