What is squad in Magic?

Squad is a creature mechanic introduced in Warhammer 40,000. You can pay a creature's squad cost any number of times while casting it, and when it enters, you create a token copy for each time the squad cost was paid.

Cost reduction and large quantities of mana can turn a single squad creature into an instant army. Enter-the-battlefield abilities become especially potent when several identical copies arrive together.
