Enchantments are permanents that usually remain on the battlefield and provide ongoing effects. The card type includes Auras that attach to other objects, Sagas that progress through a sequence of chapters, and many standalone enchantments with persistent abilities.

Some enchantments shape the game over several turns, while others support narrower themes such as creatures, tokens, or graveyards. Nonbasic land Serra's Sanctum rewards controlling many enchantments with a plethora of white mana, Starfield of Nyx can return enchantments from the graveyard, and Calix, Guided by Fate turns enchantments into a broader source of value.
