Assassin is a creature type found mostly in black. OG Assassins like Royal Assassin destroy creatures 1:1 while many others combine evasion with alternate win conditions that reward connecting with an opponent in combat. The Assassin's Creed set added freerunning, an alternative cost players can use if an Assassin or their commander dealt combat damage to a player that turn.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze gives Assassin spells a freerunning cost of two black mana, letting expensive threats like Thraximundar arrive early, and can make an opponent at 10 or less life lose the game with access to all five mana colors. Etrata, the Silencer exiles a creature with a hit counter each time it connects.
