Mutate lets you cast a creature for its mutate cost targeting a non-Human creature you own. The two cards merge into one creature, and as they merge, you choose whether the mutating card goes on top or underneath. The merged creature has the characteristics of the top card and the abilities of every card in the pile.
Auspicious Starrix provides increasingly explosive permanents as you mutate repeatedly, while commanders such as Otrimi, the Ever-Playful and Illuna, Apex of Wishes reward building enormous stacks of merged creatures.
