Modern decks

What is the Modern format in Magic?

Modern is a nonrotating 60-card Constructed format with a card pool stretching back to Mirrodin and Eighth Edition, alongside newer releases that can be specifically made modern-legal. Decks can include up to four copies of a card other than basic lands and have an optional 15-card sideboard.

Because cards don't leave via rotation like in Standard, Modern continually grows as new sets arrive. Its large card pool supports deck archetypes considerably more powerful than Standard while excluding many of Magic's oldest – and most broken – cards.
