What is 1v1 Commander in Magic?

1v1 Commander adapts Commander's 100-card singleton construction for games between two players rather than a multiplayer pod. A commander still begins in the command zone and determines the deck's overall color identity and card pool choices.

The 1v1 Commander designation is distinct from community-run formats such as Duel Commander, which maintain their own rules and banned lists. Wizards of the Coast recognizes Commander 1v1 as a separate two-player format.
