{"ops":[{"insert":"I may be a unicorn... let me explain.\nI got my first job to buy Magic Cards and opened a box of Revised on the counter at Ian's games later that summer. I fell away from Magic when high school started. My 'good' Revised cards ended up in my liver during college. I bought some sealed boxes in 2018/2019 on a whim. I opened the packs but never played with the cards, no decks, just cards in boxes. The pandemic lingered and I found a small/ pod/ playgroup. I was introduced to Commander in the summer of 2021.\nI brought my old cards out of hiding, bought more sealed boxes and started brewing. Having no idea what I was doing I began throwing together decks. \nMy first deck-building experience involved our four-pod, my cards divided by color in singleton, and each of us choosing a color. That is how I learned to build a Commander deck, 37 forests any Green legendary creature, and 62 other cards. I felt I'd won when I played a white bordered Llanowar Elves, I knew I'd won when Yisan, the Wanderer Bard found a Craterhoof Behemoth and I punched face for a bajillion damage! \nWithin two weeks I had Eight decks. By the end of the summer I had a dozen decks. The decks played well with each-other, and a selection of Pre-cons which a Pod member likes playing. As a deck-builder I was using bare-hands, shuffling through my ever-increasing collection to find cards for new builds. This probably led to some really odd card choices, some of which remain intact. I still have a deep affinity for opening packs, so I build decks using cards I have opened. I am also concerned that buying singles to optimize my decks could be ruinous.\nWith my set of decks, small pod, and love of building commander decks I was diagnosed with cancer. \nBuilding commander decks has helped me weather the storms which have come with the cancer. I opened sealed product and built decks while going through treatments. The amount of stuff I opened tapered off dramatically as I became a 'better' deck builder. I also have somewhere around forty decks across many different styles, I made many of the decks to explore the strategies and the game of commander. Some decks I think are triumph, others I'm not sure I like because they aren't my style, but they're still decks. \nI like for my decks to co-exist in the real world, just in case they need to be played against each other. So all the cards are real, in real decks, ready to be played. It looks like I am on the right side of cancer and might be able to make it to my LGS for some games of commander. I hope we get a chance to shuffle up and deal.\nIf you want to try my decks, go right ahead. Same is true in person, I like when other people play my decks... I am not a very good magic player and have seen my decks do crazy things I did not see coming. It is pretty cool.\nWell, thank you for reading. \nCheers,\n\nJust_Greg\nCalifornia\n\n"}]}
