Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"Iron Man is an artifact birthing pod in the command zone. He has haste, creates a treasure to start the chain, and provides ramp if you have something else to sacrifice to his ability. There are some built in limitations with the design in the form of mana cost and the new artifacts entering tapped. The 99 of this deck is designed to overcome those challenges and there is an early way to eliminate the disadvantages altogether. \n\nThe primary wincon for this deck is to win by beating face with constructs, or as I like to think of them, multiversal Hulkbuster prototypes. Accomplishing this task can be straightforward since Iron Man can get us what we need to put this plan into effect quickly. Ideally, we would start the game with 3 lands and 2 pieces of (artifact preferred) ramp in hand. The deck runs fairly light on lands (33, 35 including mdfc) but Iron Man will regularly enter the battlefield by turn 4. God hand sees him entering turn 2. \n\nOnce there is a two drop, non creature, artifact on the field, Iron Man grabs us out Simulacrum Synthesizer and leaves behind a sparkly treasure. That gives us a chance to scry and set up our next draw. If the artifact that was sacrificed is an Ichor Wellspring, that's even sweeter. Order the scry 2 first, and get the best. \n\nNow that Simulacrum Synthesizer is on the field, let's play fair magic and copy it. We can grab our Sculpting Steel or Phyrexian Metamorph to make multiple copies. Every 3 drop artifact and above can now makes multiple constructs. Since we're probably stacking treasures via attack triggers or with fun little gems like Reaver Cleaver, we may as well get a little help from our frenemy Ultron- I mean Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer. He not only makes sure the newest big boi constructs can swing this turn, he can *also* turn our unused treasures into more constructs for an unexpected alpha strike. Cyberdrive Awakener offers us a quick way to close a game with or without an army of constructs. \n\nWe accelerate this game plan with cards like Urza, Lord High Artificer and Storm The Vault's back side, Vault of Catlacan. There are plenty of small burst card draw cards in the form of Thoughtcast or Eagle Vision, but the deck doesn't have any draw engines aside from Idol of Oblivion and Insight. Most of our lines are play are tight thanks to Iron Man or Repurposing Bay, so big time draw engines aren't as necessary in this list. Idol of Oblivion can easily be copied and multiply the value, and Insight is great because...well... green decks. Everyone plays them. This deck could run The One Ring and Rhystic study to generate more value and push the power level higher. \n\nBackup gameplans include voltron transition with Commander's Plate, Hexplate Wallbreaker or Emberlceave, Gotcha! with Mechanized Production, and spinning up Delete to end your opponents or everyone all at once. Force that draw, baby. This deck can fill the board with rectangles and overwhelm your opponent's decision trees with multiple threats and synergies. \n\nOriginally, there were three combos in this deck. Now there is one. That combo is destroy all permanents with any artifact cost reducer, Spine of Ish Sah on the battlefield, Krark-Clan Ironworks on the battlefield, and Sculpting Steel entering. Steel enters as a copy of Spine and gets sacrificed to KCI creating 2 colorless mana. When Steel hits the graveyard as a copy of Spine, it bounces to hand. Redeploy until your opponents start scooping. This combo is overall fairly slow and clunky and there isn't a clear path to get to Spine with any expediency. There was some early feedback I received in 2024 about this deck being too strong due to the combo potential, but in 2026 commander land, it feels a bit too slow to deploy to a win.\n\nMy favorite combo that was removed is Esoteric Duplicator> Krark-Clan Ironworks> Ugin's Nexus. The result of the combo is infinite turns. It predates the bracket system. My personal opinion on this is that if you have *infinite* turns with an evasive commander and a deck full of gas, it shouldn't be considered \"chaining turns.\" It is a deterministic win unless someone has an answer. Regardless, the interpretation of the extra turn rule is what it is, so the combo stays out since deck in it's current iteration isn't spicy enough to hang with the majority of bracket 4 decks. \n\nThe above combo provides a pretty clean 3 4 5 line and as long as the mana exists to make copies with Esoteric Duplicators ability. The first time Ugin's Nexus is sacrificed it will return at end step. Typically this would kill the combo, but because we can sac it at instant speed to KCI, we can start the extra turn without issue. \n\nMy last combo that came out is a cost reducer, Sensei's Divining Top, reconfigured Reality Chip, and a Reckless Fireweaver. This one works out to be quite a few pieces, but ends up being really easy to pull off since the deck can get top the turn iron man comes down, and there are plenty of 1 drops, recursion pieces, and other tutors to grab whatever is needed. \n\nDid I mention that we can snag an amulet of vigor for the first pod if we're feeling spicy or need to get out from under some friendly stax pieces?\n\nThere are so many fun and interesting ways to power this shell up and down! I love this deck. It's my absolute favorite. I'm a huge Iron Man fan. Thank you for reading. \n\n2/2026\n"}]}
