Its controller mills that many cards, then exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile a nonland card with a different name than that spell. They may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then they put the exiled cards on the bottom of their library in a random order.

To do this, we either need to lose life and give Rowan haste the turn she lands or cast her and protect her while we churn value with her discount ability. I have found success in waiting to give her haste or protect her for one turn and win when it gets back to my turn. You can drop her and keep her around for a few turns to gain some value but it is best to try to win with Rowan being on the board for as little as possible. \n\n\nWe also do not need to go insane on the life lost. Since the most we will probably ever need is 4 (Peer into the Abyss), we rely on our mana base to deal the damage needed. All of our black card draw also deals damage to us so it is important to sick under 5 life lost as much as possible. Since the turn we start to storm off we will likely lose 10-15 life just casting some of the spells to draw cards. \n\n\nWhen storming off, all of the ritual type of effects and card draw is important, but here is a list of the supporting cards that will add additional value before and during the turn we storm off: \nPast in Flames - gives us access to all of the rituals and card draw in our graveyard, is also a great discard for Final Parting or Gamble"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Return the Past - much like Past in Flames, helps us recast our previous card draw and rituals but doesn't rely on us to currently have a stacked graveyard"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Shreds of Sanity - Allows us to return, typically, a ritual and a card draw spell or some other key spell we need. Unlike Past in Flames or Return the Past, it can only be used once and its cheaper, so it is playable before a Rowan discount, but it is not recommended."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Saw In Half - we don't play many creatures for the board, but when we have a Priest or Dockside on the board, this is great for generating a lot of many quickly. Is also good to target Orcish Bowmasters"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Defense Grid - a good stack piece for the turn we decide to pop off and is also just good if we don't have interaction and just need one more turn."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Tibalt's Trickery - we can draw some of our fast mana late when we don't need it, so we can repurpose it with this and help us get a better spell"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Chandra, Hope's Beacon - is only good for when we have a discount, but her passive and both of her + abilities are what we need when we are combo-ing off. "},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"The One Ring - almost guarantees us another turn and gives us card draw while damaging us, which in this deck is what we want"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\n\nWe also run a suite of tutors, when we decide to pop off, we can turn to the infinite combos above to determine what you need to tutor for, but there are three that need additional explanation\nGamble - Not the perfect tutor, but since we are running affects that bring stuff from our yard, it isn't a bad inclusion. It is also at a great rate for just one red, which is also the color we produce the most when we are combo-ing off.\n\nBeseech the Queen - This can be free if we have a rowan discount of 6, but like I said before, we typically don't want to lose more than 4 if we can help it. Since we do run affects like The One Ring, Mana Crypt, City of Brass, and every other card that will hurt us no matter what, it isn't impossible to get a discount of 6 immediately. \n\nFinal Parting - This one is a bit unique since this is like a better version of Gamble at a more expensive cost. This tutor is best for when we are trying to combo off with Chthonian Nightmare, since that card requires a creature to be in the graveyard before we start. It is also possible to search up whatever you need and a Past in Flames to put in the graveyard or a Return the Past and whatever instant/sorcery you need into the graveyard. \n\n\nWhen using rituals, it is important to reserve black mana as much as possible. Most of our rituals produce red and our black spells tend to be pip expensive which is why I have K'rrik included here. K'rrik can also be a free spell if we need him to be but that would be after we activate Rowan so K'rrik tends to come down on awkward occasions. However, it is best to drop him for free and since we can sacrifice him later to affects like Chthonian Nightmare or Burnt Offering for value.\n\n\nThe MDFCs included are Pinnacle Monk and Sundering Eruption. These are the two I felt like are best for this deck. Pinnacle Monk is a great combo enabler or a good piece for our combo since it can return crucial instants or sorceries that we need, and Sundering Eruption is a bad Stone Rain at worst and a great 1 mana \"Blow up target soul land\" spell. Since most players tend to skimp on basics, Sundering Eruption can be a Stone Rain at times. Other MDFC's, like Agadeem's Awakening, I find to be too pip heavy and they are just played as a land most of the time so I did not include them, however, I believe that you could include Boggart Trawler, Malakir Rebirth, and/or Valakut Awakening. I like any that can enter untapped for 3 life since that stays on theme.\n\n\nLike any other combo deck, I suggest to not try to combo off if it is obvious that other players are holding interaction. Our combo is robust in that we have many redundant pieces, but one well timed counter spell or Teferi's Protection can stop us in our tracks. Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast are here to help us push our combo through but are not absolute. I also think it goes without saying that you should try to combo off if all you are holding are tutors and card draw spells unless you are in a stance where if you pass you are certain to lose when it gets to that opponents turn.\n\nOther than that I have no more comments or suggestions. Please let me know what you think and what you would add/remove from here and why. I would love to hear any and all feedback!\n\nSidenote: I do have this deck in paper but most of the expensive cards are proxies. #downWithTheReserveList\n"}]}
