Description
{"ops":[{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"\"Down, Peeko! Down! N-Namira, control your fox!\""},{"insert":"\n\nA bit of a hybrid themed deck between Snow Mechanics and Foxes, this deck is overall quite mean, and it might cause some salt issues among other players. This deck could be much meaner, such as by running Counterspells and far more Protection, but I personally don't just out of respect for the other players who may not have a great time facing this deck. You will be targeted heavily for using some of these cards lol, so be warned.\n\nFirst off, the Commander could very easily be changed for something else. I personally like the one I chose, really just for the extra protection on your Permanents that other players will very likely be targeting. Hold off on casting him until your essential pieces are in play, that way they will need to deal with your dragon before the real problem. You really don't need to run Swamps at all for him, just be sure you are getting stuff like Command Tower or Commander's Sphere to use his other ability. Be careful when attacking with him though, as he could be a prime target for Instants or Deathtouch users if you have him protecting something particularly nasty.\n\nNow, for the deck itself. Yes, it runs Winter Moon and Winter Orb. This alone will make nearly every table instantly hate you lol, and it's why I reccomend plenty of Mana Rocks like Aether Vial, Command Sphere, Basalt Monolith, etc as well as things like Blinkmoth Well or other tapping Artifacts/Instants and Lands to disable Winter Orb or Moon right before your turn begins. Just know that you will be hated for using this Stax lol, regardless of how much it can benefit Snow Foxes early on or after a board wipe.\n\nFoxes themselves are not very strong, lacking both in power and toughness. I only play them because I love foxes lol, plus they just help make the deck slightly more enjoyable to face off and defend against. Many of your foxes have Bushido and things like First Strike, making them decent at blocking and defending yourself. What they really need, though, are counters. There are many cards in here that can give your creatures these counters, things like Aragorn and Cathar's Crusade can help too. The Heliod Artifacts and Enchantments are very good for this as well and can give your Foxes the boosts they really require against other Bracket 3 and Bracket 4 decks. Giving your creatures these counters or abilities like Deathtouch from your Frostfang can really turn the entire tide of a match quickly, and things like Aura Shards can keep opposing Enchantments and Artifacts equally disgusting as your Stax and buffers from hindering your board state. Memorizing the deck is also very helpful, as you have a couple Tutor cards in here that can pull out specific types of cards from your deck. Some of these cards can be essential for a comeback, power boost or big combo, so learn the deck well!\n\nYou have several combos in this deck and could very easily run more on top of some Counter-Spells if you were trying to be extra mean. Some of your biggest ones will be from Rune-Tail and Pariah, making yourself completely invincible as long as your Life is over 30 and Rune-Tail isn't destroyed (The Commander can, and should, help protect Rune-Tail in this scenario). Opal-Eye is a pretty decent option for a Pariah rock, as she cannot attack and can already draw attackers to herself anyway if your life is already under 30.\n\nAnother combo is with Zirda and Basalt Monolith, which will generate infinite Colorless Mana for you. While normally, this is just a neat novelty to lower all of your spell costs, what it's especially great at is how it works with your Dark Depths and Wolf Run Lands. You can instantly pay off your Ice Counters for your 20/20 Token, as well as pay your Forest and Mountain with your Infinite Mana to give a creature X/X with Trample, almost always instantly killing a player each turn you do this unless they have some kind of emergency response. You may also use this with your Tapping Artifacts like Icebind Pillar, allowing you to tap and untap your Winter Orb and Moon for free on your turns.\n\nAuralia with Sword of Hearth and Home, as well as when paired with your Snow Valkyrie, can allow for some disgusting turns as well. With this sword, she is capable of infinite attack phases. Obviously, this is just a win-con if they can't keep blocking her lol. Your Snow Valkyrie has some tricks with Auralia as well, allowing her to constantly tap and untap whenever Auralia is sacrificed to cause infinite turns if you decide to use things like Altar of Dementia or Helm of the Host. Auralia is gross; she is another piece I'd recommend protecting with your Commander or with the Rune-Tail and Pariah combo. She will be targeted heavily.\n\nMoritte and Scalelord is another combo in this deck, allowing Moritte and Scalelord to infinitely buff each other upon transforming. Along with Auralia and her sword, this is another more combat-focused win-con and other pieces you could choose to protect with Rune-Tail Pariah or your Commander.\n\nApproach the Seventh Sun is an additional win-con, especially when played with some of your draw spells or the Sorcery Tutor to instantly cause a win. Again, this is gross lol.\n\nWhile I do play Obliterate, and while you probably should play Tefari's Protection if you're going to use this, I personally don't just to give at least some respect to the table already having to deal with this miserable deck. But if you do, be prepared for most players to simply concede after this. This is a friendship-ender card and especially with that combo if you invest into it lol.\n\nOther cool synergies come from Mila and Giddeon, allowing you to get card draws and loyalty points whenever Giddeon uses his ability to goad creatures towards him. Your Valkyrie can also prevent some sacrifice effects, allowing you to destroy other problematic cards with your fox without needing to fully sacrifice them or to get Icingdeath's dagger without fully losing him. She can also steal cards from opposing players after their combat ends, helping out in building your own board state in the process.\n\nYour biggest counters to this deck will likely be either Flying decks such as Dragons, mill decks or heavy destruction decks. Token generation decks could be an issue if you're unable to draw into your own Protection spells, such as Dawn's Truce, Heroic Intervention or the Rune-Tail Pariah combo or one of your two board wipes. Blight could prove problematic at first, but because of your counters, Snow Foxes shouldn't fair as poorly as some other weaker Creature-focused decks might. Permanent Destruction will have a valid place against Snow Foxes and is their primary counter-pick in my opinion. Foxes rely heavily on their artifacts, enchantments and combo's. Because I choose to not play Counterspells for the sake of having fun matches in more casual settings with my friends, investing heavily into artifact and enchantment destruction has been the way other players have consistently dealt with me. Milling can also cripple Snow Foxes, as essential cards for your combos may end up in the grave with not many ways to get them back out. Immortal Servitude for 3+3 Mana is the option I personally use when my grave is full of my combo pieces or counter generators, but if that's milled as well, you could very well be SoL and need to improvise.\n"}]}
