MVP birb.\n\nAetherdrift update: Lots of really cool cards in Aetherdrift but not a lot of horses. I saw at least one horse, but it didn't have a place here. The only Legendary I was tempted to include is The Speed Demon. Demons are similar to Oni in L5R and I'd rather not include Oni is this deck. That's a different flavor of Black than simple Death Priests. Hopefully the next set will provide excellent choices.\n\nTarkir Dragonstorm update: Mardu seems like it's basically the M:tG aesthetic for the Unicorn Clan and I was really looking forward to all the difficult choices after being spoiled with all the new options. But... besides Anafenza, there are no flavor correct legendaries, no knights, and nothing with Menace that's terribly exciting. That means we are pulling from the non-creature cards. I'd say All-Out Assault, the Sieges, and some of the equipment could be interesting. I won't be adding them. WotC went with go-wide strategies for Mardu, which is a huge flavor win for my Lion Homage, but not the Uni one. Anafenza is a pretty great add, though.\n\n4/26/25: I've been playing this deck for awhile now and it plays very well. I'm adding three game changers and adding some different legendaries for a change of pace. (I have since removed those game changers)\n\n6/11/25: Final Fantasy is an amazing set for this deck. There are 104 legendaries that could slot in. First, I considered changing the commander (I've love blue for Herald of Hoofbeats or green for Sidar Kondo) but none of the new folks felt like flavor hits. I settled on adding Ardbert, Cecil and Rosa (Nice!,) Dion, Venat, and The Regalia. Props to Rokugan High for the sweet new ride. Nothing like a bit of Otaku Vehemence. (+1000 points if you get that super deep cut - you're one of the olde gods like me.) I could add other new cards easily. \n\n7/1/25: Minor tweaks. Cecil is out and Squall is in. Squall is fulfilling the space that SevRec was occupying. With SevRec removed, I finally added Smile at Death, which recovers Shanid from the graveyard and only about 10% of the rest of the deck, but Shanid can be targeted hard for removal if I appear to be ahead on board and I usually avoid casting him for more than 8 mana. Smile is another way he can just go to the graveyard and still be recovered. (Haakon, Volrath's, Alesha, Primeval, and Reanimate being among the others) I'm also adding a pet card Marton Stromgald to replace Adriana's Melee ability. They provide similar buffs but Marton is a cheaper legendary knight, can Smile At Death, can buff on defense, and -most importantly- is on a horse.\n\n8/15/25: The Seriema. Well... Not Mongolian Army themed. My playgroup is trying to help me reconcile it's inclusion, but I'm struggling. \"What if the Mongolians had spaceships?\" they say. I'm not 100% comfortable with it yet. Maybe The Regalia was a slippery slope. The Regalia is insanely great though, so maybe The Seriema will grow on me. I'll keep reassessing. Syr Vondam was an easier inclusion, one that, with all these anthems, could be tough choice to kill. Arbert leaves because A) counters paperwork and B) Shanid already does half of what Arbert wanted to accomplish. Reconnaissance leaves because it never really did very much. I've also added Damn with the Noctis' Death Magic alternate art since Moto Death Priests are a thing. I took out a draw spell that was underperforming.\n\n9/26/25: Added J. Jonah Jameson because that's a great effect when every creature has menace. Removed Syr Vondam for underperforming. He didn't last long. I'll consider The Soul Stone if I luck out and pull one. After discussion and a couple games, Syr Vondam back in, Headliner Scarlett out.\n\n10/14/25: Removed Blasphemous Act for Taunt From The Ramparts. Both solve creature heavy boards, but Taunt wins me the game.\n\n11/14/25: TL;DR: Out goes Haakon, Cathartic Reunion and Demand Answers, in goes The Legend of Yangchen, Monk Gyatsu, and Smellerbee, which are in many ways draw with more upside. \nAvatar is getting released and there are 67 Legendary cards to consider and a couple other things. First things first, both Cathartic Reunion and Demand Answers were Haakon enablers but generally underperform. They're out, and so is Haakon. Airbending is pretty cool in this deck, and vibes very Iuchi shugenja energy, so I'm happy to go all in. See, airbending our guys back into play is Casting a Spell. So, an airbent Legendary card casts for 2 and triggers Shanid. Monk Gyastu also saves something from removal maybe, or forces our opponent to hit him first. Cool. We should check the other airbending cards to see if they are worth it. Airbender's Reversal, Avatar's Wrath, and The Legend of Yangchen each look promising. Our removal is already premium or thematic, and though I agree Airbender's Reversal/Avatar's Wrath is very powerful, I hope my opponents cast it on me a bunch so I can get more Legendary cast triggers. It might be thematic to have a saga in my Uni deck, considering the source material, so I'll try out The Legend of Yangchen. There is also an Azula and a Smellerbee to consider. Both of them enable more draw and draw seems like it's in a fine spot at the moment. Smellerbee can recover from a dry spell, digging for Primeval Rebirth while stacking our graveyard -and- also contributes to assbeater scrabble, and with that we have three cards to try instead of the Haakon package which was getting pretty awkward. \n\n12/30/25: Swapping Smellerbee for Seifer from the FF8 box\n\n1/20/26: Lorwyn Eclipsed update: Djeru out, Bre in. Both cards serve similar game plans, with Bre trading Djeru's card selection for cheaper cost and lifelink. Also consider that Bre isn't attacking if she's doing her thing. This change might not stick. Djeru is way more Burning Sands coded than Bre. I also swapped Legend of Yangchen for Chronicle of Victory. Name Human or Knight depending on the board state. There are 18 Knights and 22 Humans as of now.\n\n2/24/26: TMNT update. No changes. It's only been a month since the last pass and TMNT is... off theme. There are nearly 60 Legendaries but I'm only considering 4 cards. I'm avoiding sneak in general, even though this deck is tough to block. Sneak is not on theme for rampaging horse warriors. Here are the 4 cards: April O'Neil, Kunoichi Trainee is tough to block but so is everyone in this deck, so I'm not sure she serves any purpose. The card called \"Continue?\" helps the deck recover from a board wipe. It is a strong contender for inclusion except it depicts a cartoon turtle. I guess we have a spaceship and a car, so why not a turtle? For now, I'm passing on this card since the deck has similar effects on theme. Turtles Forever is very similar to The Seriema, but I'd prefer to just fetch my Birb or Vito etc. without the 'Gifts Ungiven' minigame, and, also, I'd like to avoid too many tutor effects. Lastly, we have Madame Null Power Broker. I really like Madame Null for this deck, but she is just a vanilla buff and the deck already has plentiful versions of this on flavor. So it looks like TMNT isn't going in this deck, but I'm leaving the considered cards in the maybeboard so they can think about what they've done. \n\n3/4/26: I finally have a Shadowspear. I'm swapping out Dolmen Gate for now.\n\n4/13/26: Secrets of Strixhaven contains Excava, the Risen Past. This glorious horse can resurrect some interesting things and I don't mind more of these effects. I'm subbing out Rem Karolus. Rem is a flying, haste, legendary knight but I can't recall his ability ever having an impact and he's been on the chopping block for awhile. Excava is also flying and haste and has an ability that might see play. I am also considering adding a card from my favorite block (Mirage block.) Tithe is currently the best contender and I might be cutting Smile at Death? SaD is tough to cast but it has won me games.\n\n4/29/26: Restoration Seminar replaces Smile at Death. Additionally, I'm trying the available Turbulent Lands in place of their respective Filter Lands. Lastly, since I'm taking Sol Ring out of all of my Bracket 2 decks, Sol Ring is on the chopping block here. I'll finagle an extra category and deck tag color for those still in the arms race, but Sol Ring is now in the sideboard and Tithe takes it's place.\n\n7/1/26: Phew. Marvel has a lot of cards to wrap our head around, and I generally want to stick to the established themes here: Legendary and can be plausibly associated with the Unicorn Clan, or helps me gain life/draw/mana, or stay aggressive and keyword scrabble. Humans are best, Knights is a bonus, horses a plus... This isn't just a Legendary Good Stuff deck, so we won't be adding any Captain Americas and the like. Hawkeye, Master Marksman and Loki's Scepter seem like a decent start and let's us remove the The Seriema (which was honestly too good for a Bracket 2) and Syr Vondam who is still underperforming and helps retain the theme. Hawkeye can drive The Regalia and still trigger a bunch of diverse tools. (The Regalia is going to stay as a nod to Rokugan High.) Lifegain Thanos and Melee Titania both seem like decent choices as well, but with their 4 cmc, I've decided to just keep an eye on them for now. \n\n7/9/26: I've removed Restoration Seminar to try out Titania. Not only does this lower the curve a little bit, it also leaves Memorial and Rebirth as the 7 mana finishers, which both feel more slam dunk than the Seminar.\n\n7/28/26: I've swapped back Syr Vondam instead of Titania. It lowers the mana curve and, for her price, Titania's buff is situational. I've also relented to the pressure to remove Mardu Banner and add Relic of Legends instead.\n\n8/10/26: The Arkenstone feels like a better fit than The Seriema. Casting the adventure and casting the artifact both trigger Shanid. I'm removing Hero's Podium. Podium is a much larger anthem but has a harder time drawing cards. I've also teched out of Excava and Bre and re-added Rem and Paladin Danse. This lowers my curve a little bit but also ups the human knight count. I feel like both Excava and Bre needed a long, mature game to be fully utilized and I'd rather be ending them (within a reasonable 8 turn bracket 2 timeframe.) Rem and Danse are also stopping some board wipes.\n*It turns out the Adventure on The Arkenstone will not trigger Shanid on cast. My bad.\n\n9/11/26: I picked up a The Mind Stone while it's low cost. Since my The Soul Stone has doubled in price since I grabbed it, I waited to buy the new rock until the post hype slump. I've cut Bersekers' Onslaught, which is an amazing flavor card but is hard to play.\n\n9/28/26: I think Hawkeye is fine. He's an archer and I think that's on theme, but people seem to resist his inclusion more than they did the The Seriema spaceship I used to run or even JJJ. Hawkeye is a 2/2 First Strike - Reach - Menace creature with a utility package for 2 mana. Somehow, he just wasn't that impressive on the board. I'm cutting him for Liliana the Faultless.\n\n"}]}

Lastly, we have Madame Null Power Broker. I really like Madame Null for this deck, but she is just a vanilla buff and the deck already has plentiful versions of this on flavor. So it looks like TMNT isn't going in this deck, but I'm leaving the considered cards in the maybeboard so they can think about what they've done. \n\n3/4/26: I finally have a Shadowspear. I'm swapping out Dolmen Gate for now.\n\n4/13/26: Secrets of Strixhaven contains Excava, the Risen Past. This glorious horse can resurrect some interesting things and I don't mind more of these effects. I'm subbing out Rem Karolus. Rem is a flying, haste, legendary knight but I can't recall his ability ever having an impact and he's been on the chopping block for awhile. Excava is also flying and haste and has an ability that might see play. I am also considering adding a card from my favorite block (Mirage block.) Tithe is currently the best contender and I might be cutting Smile at Death? SaD is tough to cast but it has won me games.\n\n4/29/26: Restoration Seminar replaces Smile at Death. Additionally, I'm trying the available Turbulent Lands in place of their respective Filter Lands. Lastly, since I'm taking Sol Ring out of all of my Bracket 2 decks, Sol Ring is on the chopping block here. I'll finagle an extra category and deck tag color for those still in the arms race, but Sol Ring is now in the sideboard and Tithe takes it's place.\n\n7/1/26: Phew. Marvel has a lot of cards to wrap our head around, and I generally want to stick to the established themes here: Legendary and can be plausibly associated with the Unicorn Clan, or helps me gain life/draw/mana, or stay aggressive and keyword scrabble. Humans are best, Knights is a bonus, horses a plus... This isn't just a Legendary Good Stuff deck, so we won't be adding any Captain Americas and the like. Hawkeye, Master Marksman and Loki's Scepter seem like a decent start and let's us remove the The Seriema (which was honestly too good for a Bracket 2) and Syr Vondam who is still underperforming and helps retain the theme. Hawkeye can drive The Regalia and still trigger a bunch of diverse tools. (The Regalia is going to stay as a nod to Rokugan High.) Lifegain Thanos and Melee Titania both seem like decent choices as well, but with their 4 cmc, I've decided to just keep an eye on them for now. \n\n7/9/26: I've removed Restoration Seminar to try out Titania. Not only does this lower the curve a little bit, it also leaves Memorial and Rebirth as the 7 mana finishers, which both feel more slam dunk than the Seminar.\n\n7/28/26: I've swapped back Syr Vondam instead of Titania. It lowers the mana curve and, for her price, Titania's buff is situational. I've also relented to the pressure to remove Mardu Banner and add Relic of Legends instead.\n\n8/10/26: The Arkenstone feels like a better fit than The Seriema. Casting the adventure and casting the artifact both trigger Shanid. I'm removing Hero's Podium. Podium is a much larger anthem but has a harder time drawing cards. I've also teched out of Excava and Bre and re-added Rem and Paladin Danse. This lowers my curve a little bit but also ups the human knight count. I feel like both Excava and Bre needed a long, mature game to be fully utilized and I'd rather be ending them (within a reasonable 8 turn bracket 2 timeframe.) Rem and Danse are also stopping some board wipes.\n*It turns out the Adventure on The Arkenstone will not trigger Shanid on cast. My bad.\n\n9/11/26: I picked up a The Mind Stone while it's low cost. Since my The Soul Stone has doubled in price since I grabbed it, I waited to buy the new rock until the post hype slump. I've cut Bersekers' Onslaught, which is an amazing flavor card but is hard to play.\n\n9/28/26: I think Hawkeye is fine. He's an archer and I think that's on theme, but people seem to resist his inclusion more than they did the The Seriema spaceship I used to run or even JJJ. Hawkeye is a 2/2 First Strike - Reach - Menace creature with a utility package for 2 mana. Somehow, he just wasn't that impressive on the board. I'm cutting him for Liliana the Faultless.\n\n"}]}
