A once simple and honest wood elf of humble beginnings, Malachi Fraxinus was born in the quiet village of Navielge to a lumberjack and a seamstress. As a child, Malachi was a joyful and free-spirited boy who had a fondness for nature and a fascination for learning of the world around him. He spent his youth exploring the woods bordering his home and fighting off imaginary dragons to save the day. Though a bit of a loner, he was well liked by his peers and loved dearly by his family. \n\nAs the only son of his family, Malachi's parents had great expectations for his future; as much as any pair of loving parents would have for their precious child. Though strict, Malachi's parents taught him the importance of kindness and humility in all things that he did. He dreamed of exploring the world and leaving his village, of becoming an adventurer that could help those around him and aid those in need. As Malachi grew into a teen, he began preparing for his journey to the outside world, hungry to experience the infinite possibilities waiting for him outside his village. \n\nThis dream of his, however, was never to come to fruition. \n\nThe morning of Malachi's coming of age ceremony, the day that he was to depart his home of fourteen years, tragedy struck. Just as his mother had finished wrapping the customary wreath of flowers around his neck that signaled his freedom to make his own decisions, the grating blowing of ram horns sounded out and resonated through the air over his village. Confused and curious about the strange and foreign noise, a number of citizens of the village ventured towards the source of noise only to be swiftly met with poisoned-tipped arrows and treacherous magical fire. In just a matter of seconds, scores of elves, both young and old, were brutally slaughtered on the spot. The peaceful people of Navielge, who had lived in reclusion and knew nothing of war or violence, were met with a force of ruthless human soldiers who claimed possession of both them and the lands of their ancestors. \n\nAs the soldiers broke down the door to the only home that Malachi had ever known, he and his family were helpless to retaliate as they were dragged out of their home and made to watch as their house was set ablaze. The cruel laughter of his tormenters rang through Malachi's ears as he watched his home, the only one he had ever known, crumble to smoldering ashes in front of him. Then, bounded by rope and thrown forcefully onto the ground, Malachi was forced to watch, screaming and with tears streaming down his dirt-ridden face, as his mother was taken and his father beheaded. They laughed cruelly as they watched him cry out in anguish, then proceeded to beat him savagely until his cries could no longer be heard.\n\nIn just a matter of hours, the once peaceful village of Navielge had been completely razed. The once tranquil village, teeming with life and lazy joy, was no longer to be found on the map of the world. As Malachi was dragged away, broken and bloodied to be sold into slavery, he wept silently. And with each ragged breath that lead to the flashes of sharp pain from his broken ribs, he vowed that he would one day have his revenge against the people who taken everything away from him. \n------------------\n\nhttps://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1WJanb2wO4U4iC4OVGh0Eio2VwQGcgjGFhHXQVFnayks/edit?usp=sharing\n\nhttps://cubecobra.com/cube/list/mengucube\n\n----------------\n\n------------------\n\nLiyetora:\n- Land shaped by four mythical creatures: Dragon, Phoenix, Serpent, Ape\n\nMagic is a resource that can be extracted from the mana rich ore \"manite\", which forms (typically underground) in areas with a rich mana concentration. Manite is said to form in great amounts in areas that had been the dwellings of powerful, ancient beasts that were able to wield and manipulate mana directly (a trait that appears in one in every 10,000 people in the land of liyetora). \n\nXelidar is built partially into a mountain, which is rumored to be a source of endless manite. This ties into Grey's dragon lineage, as in the past, the dragon upon which his monastery was founded lived in the very mountain range where Xelidar now exists. It's written on the walls of the monastery that a thousand years ago, all dragons (that used to be commonplace in the world) disappeared into the rift in the sky, and Grey has been the first individual they've discovered to be able to wield the dragon's techniques by using the mana within him. \n\nThe main plot of the campaign will center around a future event called \"the convergence\", in which the four mythical creatures will return to Liyetora, but their intentions are unknown. \n\n- \n- Rockscore mountains\n- Myriad Peak\n\n- Bridgewell Highlands\n\nDragon names:\nXel\n\nXelidar History Ideas:\n- Previously called Xeliyedara (Land of two dragons) in Ancient Liyetoran\n- Started off as a small settlement at the base of the mountain composed of worshippers of the twin dragons living in the mountain\n- After the dragons disappeared and manite rich deposits were discovered on Mt. Rockscore, it was forcibly converted into a mining outpost by [Head of Clan #1], and eventually transformed into the successful city of Xelidar. The original settlement turned mining outpost became the base for Xelidar's undercity, while the uppercity was built farther above on the mountain. \n\n- In the depths of the undercity where crime runs rampant, one particular crime faction has roots of the original worshippers in Xeliyedara, and they harbor much resentment of the land that was tarnished by greed. Their wish is to overturn the oligarchy and take control of the city for themselves. They believe the reason why the dragons left were due to the city being built. \n\n\n\n\n\nClinton's Beastmaster Arc:\n- Shares a magical bond with his animal of choice. Will somehow link him to be the one that can communicate with the dormant mythical ape of the south. Why is he dormant though lol idk\n\nRole the mythical beasts play in the plot:\n- The four of them shaped the current landscape of Liyetora, but mysteriously disappeared and have since been mostly forgotten by the inhabitants of the plane. \n\nLiyetoran History: \n- Land of the 4 Mythical Beasts, each representing an aspect of the world:\n\n\t- Dragon(s) \t(Air)\t\t Deya-zzidara (Deya and Zidara)\t\tEmperor of the sky\n\t- Ape\t\t (Earth)\t Toragg\t\t\t\t\tKing of the beasts\n\t- Phoenix\t(Fire)\t\t Luminaya\t\t\t\t\tSovereign of flame\n\t- Serpent \t(Water)\t Taishi\t\t\t\tKeeper of the sea\n\n- Often clashed with one another, but served as the protectors of the land and its inhabitants\n- One day, all four (five) protectors left the material plane. Their disappearances were noted by the civilizations that worshipped them as deities, but no definitive evidence of their whereabouts was ever found. \n\nToday, the four mythical beasts have been all but forgotten, and only vestiges of their greateness remain in scattered throughout various regions of the world\n\nOther dragons still exist? But not true dragon gods? HMMMMMM\n\n\nThe four divine beasts served as protectors of the continent. Saw impending threat in the future and went dormant in order to preserve their power? Then their chosen individuals would awaken/unseal them? Four unsealed at same time to maintain balance (no taking over respective territory?)\n\n- mistrustful of each other, but cooperated against threats\n- either saw the future of a threat or realized that they would not be around forever to protect? \n\nClan Names (Major):\nAurelyn Goldhammer (dwarf) [Technology]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Ophelia Galestrix (human) [Information]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Yvis Bladeheart (high elf) [Combat]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nClan Names (Minor):\nDelior Galigar (human) [Textiles]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Evelynn Sumont (human) [Mercantilism]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Decker Saurel (gnome) [Innovation]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Pridestar (human) [Combat]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Dragontide (human) [Mercantilism]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Ardreth Origalla (wood elf) [Textiles]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Rudmour Platepike (dwarf) [Forging]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nCrime Names (Major):\nAshcrown Family"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Syndicate"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Soul Cartel"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Crime Names (Minor):\nTerminal (Freelance Bounty Hunters) [Steel Witch]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"The Red Hand (Freelance Solo Contractor) [Grungor]"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Houndmaster (illegal exotic animal trade)"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Raking Lads (Warp Distributors under Soul Cartel) <Balter Light>"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Silver Bullet"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Riverbed"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\n\nMajor NPCs:\nDamien (Ashcrown Heir)"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Moxie (Syndicate Traitor)"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Grungor (Bounty Hunter, Red Hand)"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Ellie (Gray's Mother)"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Moose (Ex-Member of The Company)"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nMisc Names:\nGrumblegut"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Willawort"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Zander"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Voron"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Hagmar"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Rabael"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Jasorra"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Josef Wildblood"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nOVERARCHING XELIDAR PLOT:\nMy goal for the party is to get them to discover the true history of Liyetora. True history of Liyetora:\n\n\"The world was rumored to have been created by the 4 divine beasts of the world, and they watched over and protected the land for thousands of years. However, as time passed by, they realized that the land and its people had grown too dependent on them. Wanting to foster the world's growth that they believed could not come while they were present, they disappeared into the rift in the sky. As they departed from the land, each beast left behind a piece of themselves, gifted to individuals hand-picked to lead the world into an age of growth and prosperity. These pieces, dubbed the divine relics, were powerful artifacts that alone could shape mountains and move nations. And for a great number of years, the beasts' goal was realized, and the denizens of Liyetora progressed into a new age of growth and prosperity. \n\nHowever, as the influence of the four beasts slowly waned, greed began to fill the hearts of those who had access to the power of the divine relics. The owner of the Taisha's tongue began subtly influencing the thoughts and desires of owner of Luminaya's heart, and eventually he turned her against her people. With the power of the two relics combined, he was able to amplify Taisha's tongue to reach all corners of Liyetora, and he forcibly took control of the wills of the people. \n\nThe owners of the two remaining relics, realizing the direness of the situation, took up their arms, and a bloody war was fought between all nations of the world that lasted for forty long years. Finally, the two heroes were able to break the spell that Taishi's tongue's owner had over Luminaya's heart, and they felled the tyranny that had ruled over the land. The owner of Toragg's fists perished in the final fight. The owner of Luminaya's heart used the last of her life's vitality to cast a powerful spell over the entire continent, erasing all evidence of the four relics and leaving many holes in history. The owner of Deyazzidara's horn sealed the four relics into the earth, casting a powerful enchantment over them so that they could never be used for harm again.\"\n\nHowever, the true history has been discovered by a shadowy organization that seeks to regain control of the relics. In the past, only Taishi's tongue and Luminaya's heart were used to gain control of large portions of the world. This time, their goal is all four of the relics. The party must stop them or beat them to the relics themselves, or the age of peace as they know it will come to an end. \n\nDeyazzidara's Horn (Granted to male tiefling Nilkas):\t\n- Wielder can control the weather in a one mile radius. Can cast powerful, weather-related spells (will elaborate).\n\t- Empowered version: Wielder can control the weather, continuously, over an entire country\nToragg's Fist (Granted to male dwarf []): \n- Wielder gains immense strength (23 STR), and can cast move earth 3 times in between long rests. \n\t- Empowered Version: Wielder gains immense strength (27 STR) and can cast move earth an unlimited amount of times per day, and also cast Move Earth up to a 100,000 foot square 1 time per day. Can make or break mountains.\nTaishi's Tongue (Granted to male human Zirsa):\n- Wielder gains the power to influence the decisions of people in immediate vicinity. Can cast Dominate person, dominate beast, and dominate monster. \n\t- Empowered Version: Wielder extends his influence to span an entire country. \nLuminaya's Heart (Granted to female elf Belbi):\n- Wielder gains immense magical power. If they are a caster, it allows them to boost their spells by a level. Removes cap to the amount of spells that can be cast per day. Also has the chance of igniting the magical spark of individuals who come into contact with them, as well as granting mundane items magical properties.\n\n\n========================\n\nUndercity Criminal Organizations:\n\nSoul Cartel:\n\tThe smallest of the three major criminal organizations of the undercity, Soul Cartel is a gang that started its roots in the red-light district of the undercity. They rose to power almost entirely due to the wealth and influence of a human male named Junior. They own most, if not all, of the casinos in the undercity, and their influence extends over many of the recreational activities that happen underneath Xelidar. This includes the gambling dens, distribution of many of the popular recreational and illicit drugs, and escort businesses in the undercity. The organization is not very well-liked among the citizens of the undercity. The gang has a loose organizational structure, and as such, many of the lower-ranked grunts of the gang run free to do as they please, using the name of their gang to commit any manner of higher-profile crimes that they choose to. The territory owned by Soul Cartel is considered to be of the more dangerous areas of the undercity.\n\n\tJunior: Junior's origins come from the uppercity, where he was born into nobility (the Sumont clan) but resented the rules that he had to follow in order to live the life that he pleased. His family's house is one of the seven minor clans that rule the upper-city, though they have largely disowned him due to the lifestyle that he leads and the bad publicity that would be brought if their connection was revealed. Junior is a hedonist at heart, and fully intends to enjoy all of the pleasures that come with being wealthy, legal or not. Though he appears uncaringly laid-back and is almost always tipsy or under the influence of some sort of recreational drug, he is a shrewd man that knows how to get business done at the end of the day due to his mercantile upbringings. \n\n\tSoul Cartel Characteristics:\n\t\t- Uniform consists of spiked leather jackets\n\t\t- Predominantly humans, though there are a good number of the other races baked into their numbers\n\t\t- Run the \"lawless land of the city\"\n\t\t- Symbol is a neon-pink graffiti styled SC\n\nSyndicate:\n\tA relatively new and rather mysterious organization, Syndicate is a criminal group that grew to power over the undercity seemingly overnight and have kept a large influence over the city for a good portion of the last decade. They run their organization like a business, treating their members as \"workers,\" and will prioritize achieving their goals through any means necessary. Not a lot is known about the leaders of the organization, nor what their overall longterm goals are, but their presence in the undercity is undeniable. The territories over which they rule seem safe enough on the outside, but it feels as if the entire undercity is holding its breath as it waits for Syndicate to make its next major move. \n\n\t*DM INFO*: Their aim is to take control of the undercity (and eventually the uppercity) of Xelidar through money, connections, and political manipulation. \n\n\tSyndicate Characteristics:\n\t\t- Uniform consists of white, knee length coats, trimmed in black with black under clothing. Higher ranks have \"captain-looking\" hats with visors that extend over their eyes.\n\t\t- Predominantly Elvish, very few other races\n\t\t- Has a large influence on many of the major businesses of the undercity\n\t\t- Symbol is a cryptic symmetrical character... of some sort\n\nThe Ashcrown Family:\n\tThe Ashcrown Family runs a criminal enterprise that is so well-established that it has strong roots even in the upper portion of the city. It is rumored that the Ashcrown family comes from one of the original founders of the city of Xelidar. Their criminal style is clean, low-profile, and highly efficient. They own nearly half of the under-city, and have a huge surplus of resources at their disposal to achieve any goal that they set out to do. Currently, they have been rather quiet as of late, and whispered rumors have been floating around the streets about an ongoing power struggle within the family to determine who will be the next head. The current head is a tiefling male by the name of Volodar Ashcrown.\n\n\tVOLODAR ASHCROWN: The head of the Ashcrown Family, and the most powerful man in the undercity of Xelidar. He has grown tired of doing and owning anything and everything he wants, and wants something new for a change. He has recently heard of a rumor that there is a great treasure hidden beneath the city of Xelidar, and is mildly interested in discovering what that is. He is already is in possession of a scroll that he believes to be the treasure map, but little does he know, =is actually the scroll written by the great hero that details portions of the lost and true history of Liyetora. However, he is unable to read it, as it is written entirely in ancient Liyetoran, and has a powerful enchantment cypher on it that prevents readers without any innate magical energy from figuring out its meaning. \n\n\tAshcrown Family characteristics: \n\t\t- Uniform consist of suits. The higher the ranking, the more expensive the suit. \n\t\t- Predominantly Tiefling, though a mixed variety of other races baked into their numbers.\n\t\t- Symbol is a blackened silhouette of a jagged crown \n\n=======================\n\n\nCampaign Start:\n\nGray will have finished making the four day trek from his Monastery to the entrance of the city of Xelidar. His goal is to find out information about his origins and wants to start by finding his mother to ask about his father, and if he is linked to the reason why Gray has draconic and innate magical powers. Tangentially, he is also interested in finding about his old gang, \"The Company.\"\n\nHis first order of business, after getting into the undercity is to locate his old home, which he will find in a state of ruin and occupied by a group squatters. He can either fight them or leave, but will find no information about his mother from them. \n\nHis 'plan' after would be to head to find any familiar landmarks, where he will notice the sign the Snow White. As he approaches, Toreal's 'barbarian' brother will be in the midst of kicking out a pair of rowdy, drunk patrons from the bar. \n\nInside the bar, Toreal will be visiting (?) on some order of business. Varis will also be sitting at a table, minding his own affairs.\n\nSIDE STORY: Varis (lives in xelidar? the outskirts? nearby? idk) will be visiting the undercity (as he often does) to sell deer meat. He will have had come from the upper city after selling the pelts of the two flora-deer he had hunted the day prior (to more upper class patrons), and will have had just finished selling the deer meat to a vendor that he trusts on a nearby road. The Snow White is a bar that he quite enjoys, (the bar itself is one of the better kept bars in the undercity) and frequents whenever he is in the area. \n\nGray will reconnect with Toreal and find out information about his old life. His old gang is long gone. Toreal knows of one survivor, a human male named Moose who now has a low-profile job working in the mines... More on Moose later). He knows nothing of his mother's whereabouts. Varis will be nearby with Theodore and will hear about Gray's upbringing in the dragon-based monastery, and will (hopefully lol) have his interest piqued, rekindling an interest in the mythical beasts that he had left behind years ago. \n\nAt some point in the conversation, three members of Syndicate (two grunts and somebody higher on the totem pole) will noisily enter the bar and starting roughing the place up. The reason being: \n\nWord of Toreal's artificer talents reached the ears of Syndicate, which is an organization that is heavily invested in the production and distribution of magic and magical devices. They have attempted to recruit Toreal in the past to join their organization, but he refused because he no longer wants anything to do with criminal-related activities after what happened in his past. Syndicate has become increasingly pushy about recruiting Toreal and/or getting their hands on his contraptions, and they are reaching the point where they will soon openly assault/rob Toreal in order to get what they want.\n\n\nREVISED PLOTHOOK:\nAfter the end of the war, only a small number of individuals were made aware of the existence of the heavenly relics. These were individuals that were hand-picked by the bard Nilkas himself, gathered in order to protect the now-sealed relics along with the true history of the land, named the Empyrean Order. In order to preserve the history and tasks that were entrusted to the order, Nilkas hand-produced several scrolls detailing the events that lead to the events of the war of the relics as well as the existence and tentative locations (within the continent) of where the relics had been sealed. These scrolls were enchanted by powerful magic, and the scroll cases could only be unsealed by members of the order (reacts to the touch of those who possess any blood of the order). Furthermore, the scrolls' contents are affected by an intricately woven arcane cypher that makes the letters on the scroll shift around at random. The scrolls themselves are written completely in Ancient Liyetoran. \n\nAfter sealing the four relics, Nilkas founded a small settlement at the base of Mt. Xelidar. This settlement was initially one of the home locations of the Empyrean Order, and one of the scrolls written by Nilkas was kept safely within the walls of the settlement. As time went on, the population of the village grew, and the small village began to expand. Then, after it was discovered that a rich supply of manite existed within the mountain, the settlement's population surged and the economy of the now-small city began to flourish. Over the span of a few centuries, Xelidar transformed from a small settlement, home to less than 100 individuals, to a thriving city with numbers in the thousands. The original grounds of the settlement, initially built fairly underground into the mountain for shelter and protection purposes, began to decline in popularity as artificial land with buildings and homes far more attractive than those under it began to be built on top of them. This was the beginning of the separation of the under and overcity of Xelidar. \n\nIt was through this time that the influence of the order began to gradually wane, and the true purpose of the order began to become lost. The people began to care less about the existence of the divine beasts and the dragon about which the settlement was initially founded and more about the money that could be lining their pockets as they turned to science and man-made achievements. Until finally, when the heads of the order who still remained, realizing that there were more outsiders and threats to the order within the walls of their home compared to outside, decided to leave for the Rockscore mountains, where they founded the monastery that Gray stumbled upon 10 years prior to the start of the campaign. \n\nThe scroll was taken to this settlement, and about the 30 members that were left of the order migrated to uphold the task they were assigned by Nilkas so many years ago. \n\n200 years prior to the start of the campaign, Falkryean raiders attacked the monastery in search of treasures and food. They slaughtered the majority of the already small number of individuals still living in the monastery and made off with Nilkas' scroll. At the time, Kaisor was still alive, and just a child. He watched as both of his parents were killed, and though there were still a handful of individuals of the Empyrean Order that remained alive, he was the last of the bloodline that remained that held the blood of the original founding members of the order. Much of the history of the monastery was lost (explaining why Kaisor himself knows little about the founding of the monastery), but teachings of Deyazzidara itself still remained on the walls. Since then, only two members (apart from Kaisor) of the Empyrean Order remain at the monastery: A elf named Katar who lost his eyes during the Falkryean raid, and an old, old human named Raiyez. \n\nThe scroll, after being seized by the Falkryean raiders, sat in their treasure collection for over a century. However, after a group of Falkryean raiders made trouble in the undercity in the territory of the Ashcrown, a young (28) and hot-headed Volodar Ashcrown himself personally lead a group of his men to attack their settlement out of retribution. There, he came into the possession of the scroll, which has now been sitting in his room for the last 40 years. \n\n\nRaid happened: Kaisor was 30 years old (about 18 human years)\nKaisor: 220 years old (about 60ish human years)\n\n\n\n\nCURRENT PLOT HOOKS:\n\n=======================================================================\nToreal + Syndicate Plotline [INTRO PLOTLINE]\n=======================================================================\n\nAt some point in the conversation, three members of Syndicate (two grunts and somebody higher on the totem pole) will noisily enter the bar and starting roughing the place up. Syndicate has become increasingly pushy about recruiting Toreal and/or getting their hands on his contraptions, and they are reaching the point where they will soon openly assault/rob Toreal in order to get what they want.\n\nToreal will have several choices regarding Syndicate's pursuit of him:\n- Fight back against Syndicate\n- Pretend to join Syndicate\n- Actually join Syndicate\n- Leave the city\n\nIf Toreal fights back against Syndicate, they will show hostility towards him (and the party if they helped) when encountering him in the streets. \nIf Toreal joins Syndicate (either pretend or for real), he will be inducted as a worker, where they will press him to make them magical artifacts that they can sell for a profit. He will have limited access to restricted areas of the base of operations that he will be placed in. If he does not work hard enough or to their liking, or if they have any reason to suspect that he is tricking them, Syndicate will make threats against his family. \n\nToreal will find, under Syndicate's instructions, that he is tasked with building some sort of schematics for a device that is related to a magical explosive of some sort. \nToreal + PCs can either gain their trust or infiltrate deeper into the base, but if they dig far enough, they can uncover the truth that Syndicate is planning on building a massive bomb. What it is used for, however, will only be known by the upper echelons of Syndicate. \n\nSPOILER: It is to wage a war against the uppercity as well as threaten the Ashcrown Family enough to give up control of their territory (bc they actually care about their citizens kindaish). However, the plan is quite far from fruition, so probably wont be happening anytime soon while the PCs are in the city. \n\n=======================================================================\nMoose Plotline\n=======================================================================\n\nInformation about Moose:\n\tA gangly-looking dark-skinned human of fairly average build. He started off in a similar position to Gray back when the Company was still rising up. Now works as a laborer in the mines of Xelidar. Is privy to the rumors that there is a great, magical treasure hidden within the mines, but he himself has restricted access to only the upper levels of the mine. Is in deep debt (about $20k [200 GP] to Soul Cartel due to a gambling addiction he picked up the year prior. \n\t\nMoose is one of the leads that can potentially point Gray to the whereabouts of his mother. If they find Moose, he will beg for help from Gray to protect him from the debt collectors, who have threatened to permanently cripple him unless he pays it off by the end of the month. Is becoming increasingly fanatic about discovering the treasure in the mines, even if it means breaking laws to do so. \n\nGray has several choices regarding Moose's involvement with Soul Cartel:\n- Defend him against the debt collectors, making enemies of Soul Cartel\n- Turn him over to Soul Cartel, which will gain them favor with Soul Cartel\n- Help hide Moose or don't get involved whatsoever, which will neither gain nor lose any favor with Soul Cartel\n\nIf the party helps Moose, he will give Gray clues about his mother and some of the locations that he has spotted her in the past. \n\nAdditionally, if the party helps Moose, they will gain an ally that can help lead them through the mines (if they so need it) at a future time. He also can provide some in depth knowledge about Soul Cartel's territories (namely Casino Den, the area in which the three major Casinos owned by Soul Cartel are located). \n\n=======================================================================\nVaris Plotline\n=======================================================================\n\nExtotic animal trappers have taken an interest in Varis' ape Theodore. They will attempt to capture Theodore while the party is occupied. They will send one person to follow the party for the latter half of the day, and a group of them will attempt to steal the monkey while the party sleeps. If they succeed, they will take Theodore to their base of operations, which is a simple warehouse that extends underground to house multiple exotic animals (Three colorful birds, an old fox on the brink of death, and a black-horned boar with its tusk sheared off [tusks sells for a pretty penny, 20 GP]). \n\nInside the underground warehouse will be four or five trappers (use MM bandit for stats). \n\n=======================================================================\nAshcrown Family [MAIN PLOTLINE]\n=======================================================================\n\nIf the party makes enough racket in the city (and much more likely if they display their innate magical talents), they will catch the attention of the Ashcrown Family. Volodar Ashcrown has been looking for decades for individuals of magical nature to help decypher his scroll. However, several weeks ago, his scroll was stolen .He will invite the party to the Ashcrown Manor, where he will ask the party to help retrieve his scroll as well as decypher it after it has been retrieved. \n\nThe party has several choices:\n- Agree to help him and actually help him, gaining the favor of the Ashcrown Family\n- Do not agree to help him, which will be seen as rude and will gain the hostility of the Ashcrown Family\n- Steal the scroll from him, which will escalate the hostility of the Ashcrown Family to the max, and life in the undercity will become hell. \n\t(Volodar will make veiled threats not to cross him, namely about what will happen to Toreal's family if they do).\n\nIf they choose to work with the scroll, they will discover two things: \n\t1. There is a runic enchantment on the scroll that shuffles the characters of the scroll around every ten seconds. \n\t2. The characters are written in ancient liyetoran. \n\n\t- The first can be solved by Toreal, as he is familiar enough with working with magical artifacts that he will be able to break the enchantment, given enough time.\n\t- The second can be solved by Gray, who has seen texts in Ancient Liyetoran script written along the walls of the Monastery. He can try to roll to interpret it himself with\n\tan intelligence check of 17. If not, he knows that Kaisor and/or other individuals at the Monastery might be able to aid in the translation of the scroll. \n\n\t\t- Succeeding the check will give Gray the information that the scroll has to do with the true history of the disappearance of the 4 mythical beasts. \n\n\n\n\n \n\nThousands of years ago, the realm of Liyetora existed as a dark, desolate land rife with chaos and blanketed by darkness. It was no place for life to exist, yet from the sparks of creation, the first sapient life sprouted\n\nThousands of years ago, there existed a desolate land, rife with chaos and blanketed by darkness. Ferocious beasts \n\n\n\nLegends. Stories. Fables. For as long as sapient life itself has existed in the world, man has reveled in the counting and recounting of the tales of its own rich history. Of their triumphs. Of their defeats. Of their proudest truths, and boldest lies. But among all of the stories that have been passed throughout the generations, one such tale has continued to captivate the hearts and minds of those who hear of it and believe. \n\nLegends speak of a time in an ancient past when the land was shaped and protected by four divine beasts. Luminaya, the phoenix of the north. Toragg, the behemoth of the west. Taisshi, the serpent of the south. And Deyazzidara, the dragon of the east. Together, these four mythical beasts brought balance, order, and the spark of life to the once chaotic and desolate land. And from that spark came the first buddings of sapiency. As the land grew, so then, did we. \n\nFor thousands of years, these four divine creatures watched over us. When we were hungry, they gave us food. When we were cold, they gave us shelter. When we were sick, they gave us healing. And when we were helpless, they gave us magic. And in that time when the four beasts presided over the land, there was a great sense of peace in the realm. Until that day that the four disappeared, leaving not a trace of their existence, nor a clue of their whereabouts. \n\nSome stories say that they grew tired of our world, leaving it to shape a new one. Others say that they grew jealous of each other, fighting over their territories until each succumbed to their respective wounds. And some still yet believe that they are here, slumbering beneath the soil of the land, waiting in hopes for the day that they will awaken and return to bring peace and prosperity back with them when they do. The truth of the four divine beasts has long since been lost to time, and what comes ahead for the continent of Liyetora remains to be seen. \n\nThat, is a story that takes us now, to our current point in time to one individual slowly making his way to the top of a tall and verdant hill. Nick, would you like to describe your character?\n\n\n\n\n\nYour character Gray has been travelling from the North West for the last four days. Your sandals are caked with dust and grime from your travels, most of it over land that has been untouched and unpaved. \n\nThe midday sun beats down on the back of your neck, offset by gentle cooling, mid-spring breeze. As you finish taking your final steps over this tall, tall, hill, the grand sight of a glimmering city, built partly into the base of the mountain you've been approaching begins to rise into your view. \n\nYou have reached Xelidar, the city of wealth, and commerce center of the world. To many, it's a symbol of opportunity and a gateway to a new life. To you, it is the familiar sight of the home in which you once lived. As you reach the peak of the hill, you stop to both catch a breath and take in the sight of the city that you left so many years ago. \n\nHundreds of meters below you, you can make out the sight of a good number of people flocking their way to the entrance of the city. There are hundreds of them, some on horses, some travelling in caravans, some pulling carts no doubt filled with various goods to sell, all moving towards the bridge that spans the monstrous chasm that seperates Xelidar from the land outside it.\n\n\nAs you begin making your way down the hill, you hear the sound of footsteps making their way behind you, and a wizened old man carrying a large burlap sack on his back approaches you. It seems like he, too, is heading towards the entrance of the city. \n\n\nIts looks just as you last remembered it. \n\n\n\nTo Do: More Description of Xelidar, Bit of Upper City, the ELEVATOR, lots of UNDERCITY \n\nCreate Interactions: Old guy with burlap sack backpack \n\nAn old dwarf name Addy. Traveling into the uppercity to deliver supplies to a smithy that he works at, the \"Red-Hot Ironworks\". Not a main blacksmith, but is pursuing his dream despite his age. Thick gray beard, tan wrinkled skin. Talks a lot about blacksmithing (loves the anvil in particular. Wonderful creation. And to think they're made in a blacksmith, on an anvil!). Rushes on ahead when the airship flies overhead (bridge).\n\nCreate Interactions: Peddlers on the street\n\nA blue tiefling, dressed in a cheap three piece suit. Named Rezik's Treasures. Attempts to sell Gray from a cart full of literal junk \"three rusty cogs, a broken clock, a pair of glasses with a strong prescription, a jar with some sort of fish swimming around in it, and a small painting of a waterfall that has been VERY noticably ripped in two or three pieces and taped back together hapazardly. \n\nA shady looking gnome, doesn't give a name. Dressed in an aviator's uniform. Reveals a large pouch with little baggies of illicit drugs in them. Gets aggressive if walked away from. \n\nSQUATTERS: A human male named Shae and a female goblin named Leftie. Living in Gray's old, rundown house, and are quite aggressive. Both are on some sort of substance, as they are hardly responsive to any of Gray's questions. \n\nTHE SNOW WHITE: \n> Two story pub, made from dirtied graystone and shaped kind of like a lobster trap. Blue and yellow glowlights outline the corners of the building, and THE SNOW WHITE is painted in peeling red letters across the top of the entranceway. \n> Inside, the environment is quite nice and homey. Wooden interior, several rows of wooden tables and benches (slightly darker wood than the finish of the interior). Corner of the room has a large round table with stone stools, enough to sit about 12 people. Front desk area with a tall wooden stool, and stairs leading both upstairs and downstairs to the bedrooms of Toreal's family. \n> Lively at all times of the day. Inside are: \n\t> A drunken gnome singing horribly at the top of his lungs. At one point a disgruntled dwarf patron will grab him, Bane style, and toss him out of the building.\n\t> Two half orcs arm wresetling\n\t> Three figures sitting in robes, two with their hoods on, last a human with glasses and hair tied back into a bun. Sitting at a table, drinking and eating. \n\t> A female wood-elf, heavily tattooed, sitting alone and eating\n\t> A mother-son (presumably) pair. Look homeless, wearing tattered rags. Sipping on some water in the corner of the room. \n\nCreate Scene: Meeting inside the Snow White \n\nGray will meet with Toreal and ask about details from his past. i.e. about his mother, his old gang, etc. etc. *TELL VARIS HE IS INTERESTED IN STORY*\n\nThree members of syndicate will enter the pub. Bell will ring. Environment of the pub will immediate drop to hushed whispers. They are from the crime group Syndicate, and they are here to make fresh threats to Toreal to work for them or turn over all his assets. \n> Two grunts and a captain. \n\t> Keryth Adfiel and Rina Xiltris for the grunts. Orrion Cairic for the captain. Use stats for grunts/bandits and \n\nXelidar Path: \n> Cross the \"dragon bridge\" 100 meters long. 100 Feet wide. Made from whitestone and intricately sculpted to look like it is held up by dragons. Large Chasm \"midnight snake\", can see parts of the undercity poking out. Fog. Extends to darkness. \n> Enter the city. Follow onto the Skyway (large whitestone bridge that sits in the \"sky\" of the city, leading to and from many of the prominent buildings of the city. Has a large number of entrances and exits.\n> Witness/Hear/Feel a large airship cruise through the sky overhead. Mixture of wood and silver metal. \n> Follow signs to the elevator (think of name?). Pass 2 notable buildings, (observatory + hangar). \n> Descend into the undercity. Pass bridges along the way. Elevator stops, emerge into the dim light. \n> Notice smell. Stale, moist, mildew. Grimy cobblestone floors [no amount of cleaning would ever remove].\n> Notice the occasional ray of sun that somehow finds its way through the cracks in the undercity's ceiling, only natural indication of the time in the city. \n> Every street feels like an alleyway of sorts. Everything is cramped. People are shoulder to shoulder. Must watch out for pickpockets. \n> Lots of yelling. Shuffling of countless footsteps. Worn down road. Dim lights. \n\nRecognize way to Gray's house. On the way , approach by first peddler, Rezik.\n\n> Opens up into a larger area. Almost like a park, except no grass. Lots of homeless people sleeping about. Center of the concrete park is a statue. Was a statue. Now is just a pedestel with what looks like two boots standing on top. Rest of the statue has been missing since you last remember. Graffitied, but some new designs you didn't see in the past. \n\n> Pass by a street food vendor selling some sort of slimy, octopus looking creature. One tries to slither out of the ice box, but the half-orc at the cart grabs it without looking and stuffs it back inside. Half-Orc named Grulp. Wears an apron stained with some sort of sticky, purple fluid. Mud caked boots. \n\n> Pass by several worn down shops, and an equal amount of empty lots where shops used to be. Boarded up and in various states of decay and ruin. Shops include:\n\t> Dave's Fishing Rods (decay)\n\t> The black lotus pub\n\t> Umja's Goods \n\t> Hard Wear (Sells cheap leather armor. One plate mail, obviously fake).\n\nResidential area, small houses. Also in various states of decay. Street he lived on mostly boarded up. Lots of people just milling about. No direction. In life. Losers. \n\nMusic:\n\t- Spirit\n\t- Mellow\n\n https://vocaroo.com/12d93kairxlP\n\nEllie Flintshire (Alita Galigar):\n\t- Came from a noble background in the uppercity. The Trueblood Falkryeans uphold the task of protecting Luminaya's Orb, and the majority of them live in Falkryea itself, a hidden city in the sky. The Deviant Nomads are more akin to bandits that live in their own tribes, far removed from their original goal of protecting the orb. Most Deviants do not even believe in the land of Falkryea or Luminaya's orb, citing it as a myth or fable passed down through the generations. \n\nAracan Empire\nJairus Kingdom\n\nMoxie:\nMoxie is a half elf teenager (17 years) that was born with the innate magical, telepathic abilities. They manifested in her at the age of four. Moxie is the daughter of the high elf male Aymer and the human female Mara. The two met in the uppercity where her mother was a school teacher and her father was the noble of a minor house. After learning of []'s pregnancy, which occurred out of wedlock, he told her to get rid of the baby as it would bring shame upon his noble upbringing. When she refused, he forced her out of her home in the uppercity and cut off all contact with her. \n\nAfter Moxie was born, the two of them lived in poverty the undercity. Mara decided to continue her passion of teaching, moving from the polished, well-funded classrooms of the uppercity to the neglected, worn down walls of a school she started herself in the undercity. Though many laughed at her for imagining a future for the ones unfortunate enough to be born in the city's slums, she fought for her dream and managed to gain the respect of the people in her area for following through with her vision and caring so much about her community. Mara became something of a surrogate mother to a handful of children who found no parental love in the homes from which they came. And because of her school's (overall meager) success, Mara was able to somewhat provide for herself and her young daughter.\n\nWhen Moxie was four years old, her telepathic abilities manifested for the first time, which she unknowingly used to cheat on a test that her mother was administering to her at the time. After the realization that her daughter was gifted, she helped to the best extent she could to develop her abilities. Though she told Moxie to hide her abilities from the public, she believed that they could ultimately be used for the greater good of the people. She would tell Moxie all the time, \"when you put good into the world, the world will give good back to you.\" \n\nWhen Moxie turned 12, she came home to the school one day to find her mother's lifeless body hanging from the school's porch. The building had been thoroughly trashed, with windows smashed and doors ripped from the hinges. Over her body was written largely and in her blood \"EDUCATION IS FOR HUMANS. LESSER RATS SHOULD KNOW THEIR PLACE\". \n\nShe was sent to an orphanage, but got kicked out after some time because she couldn't contain her grief and acted out violently. \n\nHas Feat: \n- Telepath:\nYou can speak telepathically to any creature you can see within 60 feet of you. Branch family split off and eventually abandoned their duty to the Four Divine Beasts).\n\t- His heritage was forgotten, but he discovered it himself through an adventure of his own. During that adventure, he met and married Ellie Flintshire. (into the Galigar family)\n\t\t- He obtained Nilkas's Scroll and discovered the true history of Liyetora. Left the scroll in its place and returned to Xelidar.\n\t- He and Ellie lived in the uppercity of Xelidar (something that Gray never knew).\n\t- He first discovered the movement of the \"dark order\" (main antagonists, wish to collect all four relics to rule the world) while living with Ellie.\n\t- Realized the danger of the organization and left Xelidar to find more members of the Order. Left Ellie and baby Gray behind, knowing it would be dangerous to take them along.\n\t- Left her an amulet to contact him in case of an emergency. \n\t- He can use abilities similar to Gray. His dragon powers are (currently) stronger than Gray, but his martial art skills are much less refined. Is a fighter, not a monk. \n\nPlot:\n\n\t- When Stygian left Xelidar in order to find more members of the order, he told Ellie everything he knew about the order. \n\t- After he left, a year after his departure, just after Gray's birth, Ellie realized that the dark order had learned of her existence and knew that she had to do something to protect Gray.\n\t- She faked her own death in the uppercity and escaped into the undercity, willingly subjecting herself to poverty in order to protect herself and Gray from the dark order. \n\t- When Gray disappeared, Ellie used the amulet to ask for Stygian's help locating Gray.\tShe refused to believe that Gray was dead, and she was right. \n\t- He obliged and returned to Xelidar for the first time in years, shocked to discover that Ellie and Gray had been living in the undercity ever since he had left. \n\t- He used his resources and new allies to lead an investigation, where he tracked Gray down to Monastery (which he did not know even existed prior to the investigation). \n\t- After finding Gray safe, he returned to Ellie to ask her what she wanted to do. She chose to let him remain in the Monastery because she believed that he would be safer there and live a better, crime-free danger-free poverty-free life at the monastery. \n\t- She then left to the promenade level of the city (by Stygian's request) and was able to live in better conditions due to the connections that Stygian had gained in the meantime. \n\nStygian Silverpaw (47 yr old human): \n Physical Traits: Same height as gray (about an inch shorter), slightly stockier. And for a time, they served their purpose. Nations formed and the people prospered. But \n\n- Four divine beasts left the land X years ago\n- Left behind powerful relics\n- Sapientkind misused these relics for their own gain, fought over them, resulted in the hundred year war\n- Eventually the war ended and a powerful sorcerer cast an enchantment, removing the war and the relics from the minds of the people\n- After the war's conclusion, the bardic hero Nilkas sealed the four relics away into the tombs of each of their keepers.\n- He created four golden scrolls, each detailing key points of our forgotten history.\n- Divine order was formed to keepers of this forgotten knowledge and to prevent the events of history from ever repeating itself\n\n- Why is this important? It has to do with our bloodline. Gray, you and I are one of the last known descendants of the original founding members of the divine order. When Nilkas founded our order, he made it so that only those who carried the blood of its founding members would have the ability to access his scrolls, his knowledge, the keys to the relics. \n\n-=-=-=-\n\nThe Four Divine Beasts:\nYour party has discovered that the Four Divine Beasts did exist in the past and served as the world's divine proctectors and gods for the hundreds of years that they were present. However, about a thousand years prior to the present day, they left the world for seemingly unknown reasons. As they departed, each Divine Beast left behind a powerful relic containing a portion of their soul. These relics were gifts from the Beasts to those they left behind to allow the world to continue to survive and prosper in a new age without their gods. Along with the relics, the beasts left behind one final command to protect those in need and to continue to flourish and grow even after they were gone.\n\nThe Divine Relics: \nThere existed four divine relics in the past, one for each respective Divine Beast. These relics were tools granted by the Beasts that could be used to dramatically reshape the world around its users. Currently, the party knows about the details of two of the relics: Toragg's Fist and Deya's Horn. \n\nToragg's Fist is said to grant its wielder the might of Toragg himself along with his ability to reshape the land and even move mountains at a whim. \n\nDeya's Horn is said to grant its wielder the freedom of Deya's wings along with their ability to freely manipulate the skies of Liyetora. \n\nTaisshi's XXXXXX XX XXXX XX XXXXX XXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXXX XX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXXX XX XXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XX XXX XXXX.\n\nLuminaya's Heart XX XXXX XX XXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXX XX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXXX XX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXX XX XXXXX-XXXX XXXXX.\n\nTaisshi's Tongue is said to grant its wielder the charm of Taisshi's speech along with his ability to command and control the beasts of the land.\n\nLuminaya's Heart is said to empower its wielder with the source of Luminaya's essence along with her ability to grant those around them the touch of inner-made magic. \n\nThe Divine Order:\nThis was an organization founded by the bardic hero Nilkas. Following the hundred year war of the relics, Nilkas gathered each of the four divine relics and sealed them away so that they could no longer be used to shed blood. The hero Belbi, with her dying breath, cast a powerful enchantment that erased the knowledge of the relics (alongside the four beasts), from the memory and history from the land of Liyetora.\n\nNilkas founded the order by gathering a trusted group of hand-picked individuals to serve as protectors fo the Divine Relics as well as to preserve the history of the land's true gods. \n\nEden: \nAn organization founded by Kayden, the defector of the Divine Order.
