Grist, the Hunger Tide
As long as Grist isn't on the battlefield, it's a 1/1 Insect creature in addition to its other types.
+1: Create a 1/1 black and green Insect creature token, then mill a card. If an Insect card was milled this way, put a loyalty counter on Grist and repeat this process.
−2: You may sacrifice a creature. When you do, destroy target creature or planeswalker.
−5: Each opponent loses life equal to the number of creature cards in your graveyard.

Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"\tThis is a goofy \"oops all insects\" list for "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Grist, the Hunger Tide"}},{"insert":". The deck could certainly be stronger and more of a real deck, but I wanted to make more of a meme version where the only real goal is to get lucky and mill 10 insects in a row. Grist comes with built in removal in her -2, and also a win condition in her -5. I love planeswalkers that can make tokens to protect themselves, so when she was spoiled and I noticed that she also has removal and a win condition stapled on I was sold. This deck is quite budget (or it was, and could be by cutting a few cards), I think I bought 20$ worth or insects and jammed them in with whatever else I had lying around. Note that the land count is incredibly low so that we can mill insects as reliably as possible; this means that we tend to mulligan aggressively in search of 3 lands. Given the way that mulligan rules work, we will often just keep going until we get 3 lands. \n\n\tOk, let's break down the few categories in the deck. \n\nInsects:\n\tMost of these are pretty garbage creatures. They are here to be milled by Grist, and that's pretty much it. Sure, there are a few winners like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Scute Swarm"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest"}},{"insert":", but for the most part this is purely filler to trigger the +1 and fuel the -5. We run as many death touch and reach insects as possible to give us space to breathe. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Graveshifter"}},{"insert":" acts as another way to recover "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Eternal Witness"}},{"insert":". "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Quarry Beetle"}},{"insert":" can recur a land for us. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Halo Scarab"}},{"insert":" can ramp us a bit from the yard. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Caustic Caterpillar"}},{"insert":" is classic removal, along with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Masked Vandal"}},{"insert":". "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Realmwalker"}},{"insert":" let's us survey the top card and decide if we want to +1 or draw the next card. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Deadbridge Goliath"}},{"insert":" has use in the graveyard if we get to 6 lands. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Carrion Grub"}},{"insert":" mills a bit to fill the yard for a "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Footbottom Feast"}},{"insert":". A few of these insects make tokens, or are dorks, or care about +1 counter synergy of which we have a little. I picked the best I could from the limited supply, and we make do. \n\n\nLands:\n\tThere are a lot of tapped lands in the deck because we don't necessarily need to be casting spells every turn in order to further our game plan. Also note that the lands that sac to tutor other lands, like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Fabled Passage"}},{"insert":" or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Myriad Landscape"}},{"insert":", are mostly here to thin the deck of lands to maximize our ability to mill insects. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Mortuary Mire"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Witch's Cottage"}},{"insert":" can stack an insect on top of the library for a free guaranteed mill. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Crypt of Agadeem"}},{"insert":" can sometimes make a lot of mana. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Drownyard Temple"}},{"insert":" can be played from the yard if mill it. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Oran-Rief, the Vastwood"}},{"insert":" can make our insects bigger when they come down, and very much improve our board state after a big mill. \n\nWin conditions:\n\tSo, the coolest thing the deck does is use the spells like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Footbottom Feast"}},{"insert":" to stack all of the creatures in our yard on top of the library before activating Grist's +1 to make an enormous stack of insects and blow Grist's loyalty counters sky high. I included "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dread Return"}},{"insert":" in order to recur the "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Eternal Witness"}},{"insert":" and rescue one of our four Footbottom card from the graveyard. It is worth noting that this isn't truly the win condition; the insects allow us to protect ourselves, and the big +1 gets Grist's loyalty high enough to use her ultimate to close out the game. Once we've milled a fair few creatures we can pull this combo to hopefully give us enough loyalty for Grist to use her ultimate the next 2 turns in a row. Again, this deck is not all that serious so the game plan is not particularly powerful but it is silly and straightforward. \n\n\tI tend to gravitate toward complex decks where optimal piloting is key, so this is the deck I break out if I want a game off to just chill and coast. There are barely any difficult decision points, and the game play is stupidly straightforward. Most turns you just use Grist's +1 and maybe cast a random Insect from your hand. The deck isn't winning against high power decks, but when it does the thing it is certainly fun and entertaining. My play group always gets a laugh out of this deck, until I get lucky and rip 12 insects in a row with the +1 and suddenly I'm a problem. I would say this is the definition of a Bracket 2 deck. \n"}]}
