Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"Took this to the finals of an RCQ on 4/1/23 with a 4-1 record in swiss, 6-1 to finals.\nMatchups:\nR1: RB Sac 2-0\nR2: Izzet Creativity 0-2 (Drew into 6 lands off of a 2 land keep game 2, was a turn too slow in game 1)\nR3: Humans 2-1 Game 1 on the draw, got smashed quickly. Games 2 and 3 there was no removal for bard class on 2 and was allowed to win through combat game 2 and combo game 3.\nR4: Mono U Spirits 2-0 Being on the play and slamming a bard class on 2 was key in this matchup.\nR5: Rakdos Midrange 2-0 Game 1 was won through combo, game 2 through creature value.\n(Important note I did not try to ID into top 8 just to secure top seed)\nQuarters: UW spirits 2-0 on the play dropping a bard class on 2 was enough, game 2 baiting out spell queller on a hajar, killing it with a rending volley was what won this.\nFinals: Rakdos Midrange: Concession, my opponent had more time availability for the Dallas invite (I didnt know the exact date until then)\n\nSB Guide:\n\nSpirits(ALL):\n-3 Xenagos\n-1 Birgi\n+3 Rending Volley\n+1 Thrunn\nJuicy J is no longer your companion.\nOn the play mulligan for 2 lands and a class to try and stick it on T2, T3 level it and play creatures for free.\nOn the draw Mulligan the same but look for higher power creatures to pressure. If you can stick a domri you can turn the corner fast.\n\nRakdos (Midrange):\n-2 Xenegos\n+1 Thrunn\n+1 Hearse\nOnce you get a class down they cannot deal with the value it creates, mulligan accordingly.\n\nRakdos Sac:\n-3 Xenegos\n+1 hearse\n+2 Runestone\nOn the play go for the bard class hand and pray they don't thoughtsieze it\nOn the draw shoot for SB cards/class hands\n\nHumans:\nPlay:\n-3 Xenegos\n+2 Weathered Runestone\n+1 Rending Volley\nDraw:\n-3 Xenegos\n-1 Birgi\n+3 Rending Volley\n+1 Destructive Revelry\nYou want to be the beatdown every time you're on the play against humans, on the draw this matchup feels very bad.\n\nIzzet Creativity:\n-2 Xenegos\n+2 Embercleave\nJuicy J no longer your companion.\nMulligan for hands that have 2 lands and a bard class and hope you're fast enough, this SB tech for this matchup needs to be changed as embercleave is kind of slow in this matchup.\n\nThings I'd change\n\nMainboard seems pretty solid as is, i'd look at maybe 1 more Migloz as he's just a unit every time he comes out. Highly undervalued card.\nThe Sideboard however was kind of thrown together quickly based on what I had seen locally. The back to nature could seem like a non-bo but its only for Bogles if its a thing and your creatures are better than theirs post enchantment blowup. This can be a flex slot.\nEmbercleave hasn't really felt very strong but it could be because I played this version more like tron and just tried to combo anytime I could rather than attack. Aetherflux Reservoir is only there for games where my OP is onto my scam and tries to prevent the Jace auto win by targetting my Oath of Nissa's. Also a flex slot if you aren't overly cautious as I am.\n\n\nPlay tips:\nIf you're against blue and have an uncontested Domri on the board ALWAYS + him for the secondary line of text, it catches more people off guard than you'd think.\nFeldon and Domri's - can be a great way to post combat hit a bardclass and combo off. (Did this vs Rakdos on a Sheoldred)\nPeople will often not block Feldon with larger creatures just so that you don't get the cards, feel free to swing into everything since he can't block anyways.\nObviously never keep a hand with a wish in it, it's dead until you can combo.\nDon't forget that Xenegos has a ever so slight synergy with Gallia, it can mean the game sometimes.\nAn opening hand with 1 land, oath of nissa, a bard class and any amount of 2 drops is VERY keepable.\n\nUPDATE 4/20/24\n\n8 person RCQ, first of the season, 3 rounds single elim. Faced UR phoenix all 3 times and won with just siding in 2 hearse and removing 2 xenagos. Games went to turn 4-5 at the max. Pretty sure this is the most optimal version. Ruby is insane.\n\n\nUPDATE 10/3/24\n\nSCGCON DC: \nMainboard Changes:\n\n-2 Zurgo\n+2 Norin - He can allow recasts to keep the combo going if you get stuck\n-2 Iziquith \n+2 Feldon - Forcing combat can be another way to dig for Bard class or extra casts\n-1 Xenegos\n+1 Quintorious Kand - Xenegos always felt kind of win more, you have 7 sources to cast Quin and its another way to keep the combo rolling and to win on the spot\n-1 Anzrag- was a fun of and man he was fun\n+1 Migloz- Meta has alot of enchantments that need to get dealt with\n\nSideboard:\n-2 Weathered runestone\n+2 Grafdiggers cage -same card essentially and 1 cheaper\n"}]}
