{"ops":[{"insert":"It’s official, I have found my new favorite Commander. This deck durdles with the best of them and deals damage to all your opponents at the same time. Golbez, Crystal Collector is full of tons of little and seemingly innocent plays, like making clues, treasures, and food tokens, but then makes incredible use of your growing artifact count in the form of */* creatures and Golbez’s end step trigger.\n\nWhen you play Golbez you best know that you are going in as the Bolas so play accordingly. Don't get sour that people are gonna target you, remove your graveyard, or kill your Commander often. Just be prepared to play through it and be happy that your commander is so darn cheap to cast. They will run out of ways to kill Golbez or other threats will rise up from other players to distract your opponents. Bide your time and take chunks of life off your opponents strategically.\n\nA big reason why I built this deck was it filled a specific spot in my deck rotation that was lacking, the engine deck. With that in mind, resiliency was a major consideration in the construction of this deck. My opponents often comment on how difficult it is to completely dismantle this deck piece by piece. Most of the artifacts that help you get to Bez-craft ( what I call the Golbez 4/8 artifacts trigger) are tokens which will almost always stick around because no one wants to use removal on just an artifact token. This is one place this deck gains it’s edge on the opponents, literally on the margins gained by these little treasures, maps, servos, etc.\n\nBe careful for mass artifact removal so make sure that you hold up counter magic or Mirrorshell Crab to counter the ability! The good thing though is that people don't often run mass artifact removal and if they do, it is usually only one in the 99.\n\nAlso, it’s best to play one token engine at a time so when they do kill your board, you can just plop down another engine and start again! Ie. if you start your game with the Academy Manufactor, Underworld Cookbook engine , make sure to keep your Worldwalker Helm in hand, etc.\n\nThe two planeswalkers, Ashiok Dream Render and Narset Parter of Veils, don't actually synergize with the deck, however, I have found them to be needed to even out the gameplan a bit and make the deck a little more balanced and not just combo/engine heavy. (Currently, not playing these)\n\nSome favorite interactions (besides big Phatties in the yard):\nGolbez (4+ Artifacts) and Mirrorshell Crab in the graveyard = recurring counterspell/stifle. At the very least, they have to always be playing around it keeping them distracted."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Golbez (4+ Artifacts) and Troll of Khazad Dum in the graveyard = Swamps every turn"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Academy Manufactor + (The Underworld Cookbook, Collector's Vault, Nuka-Cola Vendiing Machine) gets your artifact count up really fast and nets you lots of extra life, mana, cards, and surveils. It’s quite normal to have upwards to 15-20 tokens out making for a big enough swing to go lethal."},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nUpgrade or Budgetize:\nThere are definitely some powerful upgrades available for this deck, but as is, it's already pretty awesome. I've considered adding Mox Amber and similar fast mana cards, but I have found it not necessary because it takes time to build up the prerequisite board state to get the engine rolling (namely having 4 and then eventually 8 artifacts in play) as well as getting a good creature into the graveyard. So the impact of the speed gained by playing a Mox is actually minimal.\n\nAll that being said, I do believe I have found a good home for an unloved Mox in Mox Tantalite. If played early it comes online just in time for Bez-craft when you’ve stocked the graveyard and need just a few more mana for either flexibility or protecting your engine. It’s been going better than I expected. We’ll see if it sticks for the long term, but it’s been a pleasant surprise!\n\nI currently run 1 Gifts Ungiven officially making this deck a Bracket 3 deck. However, if I were to play without Gifts Ungiven it would have been disingenuous to call it a bracket 2 deck because it clearly plays as a much stronger deck than that tier. You could still add a few more Game Changers and it’d still fall safely into Bracket 3. (Since this deck clearly plays in the Brackett 3/4 range, I’ve added Bolas Citadel and Force of Will)\n\nAn easy place to upgrade or budgetize is the mana base. Honestly, just running the artifact lands and a ton of Islands and Swamps is good enough. Similarly, you can add fetches and surveil lands, etc. for a tad bit more consistency, but they are totally not needed either. Just running what you have works as well.\n"}]}
