Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"My third elf deck, focusing on +1/+1 counters rather than tokens. It also a minor inspiration of value from Scrying that the Lord of the Rings set adds, but without the weird Secret Council mechanic of the precon. This deck makes creatures big so that hopefully they can deal some real damage. It helps that at least of couple of them either fly, or effectively fly while attacking. Xolatoyac makes forests and such into islands, adding color variety while making everything with a counter untap removing some vulnerability of tapping to attack and refilling your mana pool after your turn is over.\n\nUnlike my Nath deck, this deck does not shy away from adding creatures of the forest and I feel like that has to be a given because the Commander himself is not an elf. Thrun is big and attacks whoever he wants pretty much without fear of dying. Forgotten Ancient is an oldie but a goodie that I've had in my collection for eons and fits perfectly in a +1/+1 counter deck. He has the capacity to be ginormous. Tyranid Prime adds some extra counters to everybody by playing bigger creatures, and the Thrummingbird is happy to proliferate +1/+1 counters. Hell making Thrummingbird big could also be a play because it flies, and if it has a +1/+1 counter, every turn it makes contact the damage will be worse. There are other elves in here that fly, and a couple of Pump effects like Blanchwood Armor and Timberwatch Elf. Nesting grounds makes Proliferating the Flood counters actually useful, and Rogue's Passage can make a big creature get through even without Trample or Flying. Secret Tunnel might be an upgrade, but in this case not every hard hitter is an elf so it might be wiser to keep my options open.\n\nIt being an elf deck though, it's pretty good at what it's doing, so it's going to draw aggro and I'm going to bump it up to a 3 for power level. That's kinda what I was aiming for despite no \"Game-Changers\". Also from playing the deck I am quite happy with its performance. It is very good at making big stompy creatures.\n"}]}
