Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"This deck is limited to winning in combat as part of a self-inflicted restriction, but the point of the deck is to combo out as fast as possible. The deck is filled with as many recursive pieces as possible to achieve infinite mana and untaps as possible to make infinite elves or infinitely large elves and/or draw out the entire deck. The mass land destruction (and permanent destruction) is designed to be one sided by giving ourselves indestructible or just not caring about needing lands after dropping a bunch of mana elves (while presumably sandbagging a Cradle, Nykthos, or The Tree City). Wirewood Symbiote with, Mirror Entity, and the newer Maskwood Nexus or Temur Sabertooth provide the ability to go infinite as well as the normal staff of domination or umbral mantle lines. Concordant Crossroads is one of the main pieces I generally look for to win on the spot. Of course, the HOOF does this, but 1000 year elixir gives psuedo haste for the dorks to provide infinite mana, which can draw the deck with any of the draw engines. It's more of a rube goldberg machine of an elfball deck than most, but it also functions in a straightforward manner with Ezuri and other popular elves. One new combo is going off with Wirewood Symbiote and Dionus. The untap giving the counters is an added bonus, but I haven't exactly experienced this one yet, so it's more theoretical for me. I've also made good use of Magus of the Candelabra, especially with Mirror Entity and now Maskwood Nexus abusing Cradle and Wirewood Lodge, or just using Wirewood Symbiote. Argothian Elder also provides this but doesn't need the Entity or Nexus to go off. I have the full suite of cards to go get Cradle. I'm currently testing out the Sowing Mycospawn over the sorcery Reap and Sow. The effects aren't the same, but the Mycospawn is more easily recurred and abused with Symbiote and Sabertooth, so I think the versatility loss may just be worth it, since I'm almost always going to get a land if I'm using this.\n\nSo, why Rhys? It's a consistent turn 1 play if there are no 1 mana dorks drawn, as well as a fine token backup plan should things go too slowly and you need to recover from a board wipe. Usually that means you lost, but sometimes a game can drag out with others stopping each other and you can rebuild sneakily and then go off in a single turn.\n"}]}
