Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"Here is my golgari Viconia / Faceless One / Umori deck submitted for Salubrious Snail's deckbuilding challange. I love the concept of the card Faceless One because it's a plan b in limited if you don't find a second commander in your colors and because of how terrible the power level of the card is. I really wanted to play it as my background but needed to find an actual reason to do so, and then I remembered Companions do in fact exist. Omori seemed like the most interesting and powerful option to have a \"3rd commander\" that gives me a fun deckbuilding restriction. I build the deck as a value machine midrange deck that aims to outlast all 3 of my opponents by technically having 3 cards in the command zone, looping recursion creatures and slowly draining other players' resources. I own a Beledros deck in paper that has very similar play style, so knowing the play patterns of that deck helped a lot. It was an interesting task to find replacement cards with the roles that other card types usually fill in and it lead to some interesting card choices. Although the deck might look like a soup of golgari good stuff at the first glance it actually is quite synergistic. I especially like the concept of exiling specific cards from my own graveyard to minimise the randomness of Viconia's ability. Exiling those cards, recuring creatures from the graveyard and returning the commanders to the command zone after they die all trigger the \"whenever a card leaves your graveyard\" ablilities. In the lategame I can spend my mana casting and sacryficing Faceless one to trigger those abilities and draw extra cards without overcommiting any cards from hand nor increasing the tax on Viconia. I also tried to keep it in a lower budget range (it's around 70€ and I own most of the cards if I decide to build it, and I probably will). The creative juices kept me awake for more then I care to share and I had an amazing time building the deck. Thank you for the challenge, Snail.\n"}]}
