As memory serves, they were actually already qualified and beat us for the free flights to Boston and the prizes.  Otherwise I made the top 8 of multiple PTQs but never qualified, along with some other small time successes like cash prizes at Grand Prix tournaments. \n\nI beat Yuuya Watanabe at a standard Grand Prix and, frankly, he was obviously a cheater even back then, asking me not to shuffle his deck before games etc. \"Cheating is part of the metagame\" when you play in the region where Mike Long and his disciples lurk.\n\nNow, I am purely a casual EDH/Commander player living in Germany. I have quit Magic for years on end multiple times and always seem to come back to the game.
