Game 10 months{"ops":[{"insert":"I wanted to build lisa when she was released, and I also wanted to make it hurt as much as possible for other players to try to stop. turns out with the best available starting hand for turn 1, if no one stops it they proceed to take 2 damage even to cast their sol ring. mrkeithguy 10 months{"ops":[{"insert":"At first Kellan may seem like just another Boros equipment deck, but stapling an Open the Armory onto a Double Strike commander is just begging to abuse the \"Sword of...\" cycle. T2 I tutor up the sword that gives protection from the most of the table and then by t4 we're double striking getting double sword triggers and really racking up the Commander damage. To make it even better Kellan just so happens to buff his friends for each equipment or aura attached to him, so why not take weak little hatebears such as Drannith Magistrate or Containment Priest and make them into beefy blockers that make out opponent's think twice about swinging our way. My thoughts on this deck were to stay within a reasonable $2000 budget but also make the deck oppressive and easily maneuverable with removal from opponents. Add in heavy doses of unBEARable token generators and straight up rude removal and you have a deck guaranteed to at minimum annoy the crap out of everyone. Essentially, the goal is to play a bunch of myriad creatures along with the commander, and swing, having all of them multiply, and the myriad copies wont be sacrificed due to your convenient commander. Your opponents take a look at the board state and think, "},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"'wow, they don't get sacrificed, and all of the copies also have myriad. they are all going to multiply again next turn, i better watch out when that happens.'"},{"insert":" But then, out of nowhere, you take an extra combat and swing in with as many creatures as possible. And, by the time they want to respond, they will realize that even if they kill your commander, not only will the commander have copies to remain alive, as he too has myriad, but the copies will still remain as the sacrifice at the end-step only triggers once. There are also many other ways to make cheap copies in the deck such as Jax, and Mirror March. While this main theme is quite intimidating, I decided to add in numerous crazy win-cons that are quite funny, such as enchantments that triple damage, or other things that have creatures deal direct damage to opponents when they enter the battlefield. Overall, it's a pretty fun deck to play that, when played correctly, can result in your opponents standing face to face with hundreds of little pieces of cardboard flying their way. Then the deck is packed with cards that allow you to untap our commander and do it all again!\n"}]}

However, though many may expect to see Esper or Azorius as stax color pairings, Meria, Scholar of Antiquities gives Gruul the unique placement to be stax-y when there are so many better and more fun things to do. Even better, you get to ignore the stax by tapping down problem cards at your opponents' end step before your turn starts like Winter and Static Orbs.
