{"ops":[{"insert":"Hey all! I'll be visiting my old EDH friends for Christmas and I wanted to bring them some new custom decks as gifts. We always play casual 3 player games, so I wanted to build all 3 commander decks for us that specifically work well against each other in a 3 player pod.\n\nI'll try my best to balance the decks after picking the commanders, of course. But I'm looking for advice what commanders would make for fun and varied strategies in this setup.\n\nDuring my initial research I found out:\nI've been told that voltron would be too powerful in a 3 player game and would sometimes end the games too fast, so probably no voltron."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"I've also seen comments that stax can make a 3 player game unfun, so probably no stax."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nSo I'm currently looking at these 3 commanders:\nWulfgar of Icewind Dale (aggro deck with a lot of creatures, not voltron focused) for a friend who likes swinging with big creatures and dislikes too complicated strategies"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls (focused on Demons, with a little bit of group slug) for a friend who likes heavy metal and playing black, graveyard synergy would also be cool for him, but demons rule too"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Alela, Artful Provocateur (focused on artifact synergies and token generation, less on stax) for me, just sounds interesting and not too hard to build"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nWould that matchup work? I want to build decks we've never played before, so I don't have any experience here. I also want to cover all 5 colours and avoid one deck ending games too early. We also don't like long, 20 minute combos. Since I want to specifically design the decks to only play them against each other in our 3 player pod (they'll be personalised gifts), power level is not that important and the fun interactions aspect is the key. We're not pros, we only play for fun to spend some time together, not to win by all means :)\n\nLet me know what you think and if you have any other ideas about commanders that would work well in a 3 player game, thanks!\n"}]}
