{"ops":[{"insert":"Xira Arien is an old old OOOOOLLLLD commander and it shows. With an overcosted ability that only allows you to draw a card on a 1/2 body, its clear that the format and legendary creatures as a whole have come along way since then. In fact, Xira Arien was my 1st ever 3 color commander deck and my first ever budget deck I build when I wanted to start to build my own commander decks rather than relying on other people to build decks for me. So this will be a fun revisit and a reminder that old dogs can get some new tricks. \n\nSo just like any other commander what does Xira do for us? Shes draws cards and thats about it so leaning into a generic good stuff commander into the best color combination that loves just generating huge amounts of value, this deck is an artifact matters deck that relies on generating mass amounts of all the new value artifact tokens that have become exceedingly popular over the years. Treasures, clues blood and even map tokens are all in here in this jund pacakge and the aim of the game? Jund them out until we can finnish them off with our damage deals such as Marrionette Master (an absolute powerhouse of a wincondtion and one of my favourite cards in this format) and effects that are similer such as Mirkwood Bats, Scion of Halaster and Reckless Fireweaver. Thats not all we can do with the tokens. We can turn them into mana rocks with cards like Jaheira or turn them into card draw with Meria to keep our value train full steam a head.\n\nPros:\n+ Versitiles due to all the different types of tokens made\n+ Easy value generation throughout the game\n+ Suprise factor as commander does not indicate what type of gameplan your deck has\n\nCons:\n-- Commander does not provide much to the deck\n-- Sometimes struggles to close out a game\n-- Weaker early game due to the need to set up\n\nIf you want an old and unasuming commander that can get your oppoanants to think twice about the legendary creatures that came out back in the day give this commander a shot!
