Put up to one of them on top of your library and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. If X is greater than or equal to the number of cards in your library, you win the game. Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"Ah Orvar, my beloved. A beautiful mono blue commander. It seems as though this commander and deck can weasel its way out of any situation. This deck has been carefully curated through many many games to be as efficient and predictable as possible. Before playtesting I have a primer prepared for anyone interested in giving Orvar a shot.\n\nGameplan:\nOrvar can be finnicky. Read his text box carefully, if you have a multi-targeting spell, you may only choose one target to copy on your board out of all the targets, you don't get all of them. You cannot copy orvar himself unless you have a non-legendary copy you can target. This is a deck of many, many, many infinites. I feel as though every time I play this deck I discover new options.\n\nGoing infinite. There's more than a few ways to do it, but your big MVP here is going to be Whim of Volrath, however, any buyback spell will do. This seemingly innocuous spell is the best card in the entire deck. Full stop. At times when I mulligan, I will keep a one land hand just because I already have WoV in my hand. The key to this spell is the buyback cost. In mono-blue, there is no cheaper buyback effect than WoV. It can target any permanent, yours or your opponents (although we will 99% of the time target our own) including lands, which is the key to our infinite. If we can get a way to consistently produce 3 mana, or more, or reduce the buyback cost, we will almost certainly go infinite and win the game. And even without those conditions, with Orvar on the field you can still for three mana copy any permanent aside from Orvar on your field. This is even stronger than you think as spells you cast that target don't even need to resolve! Orvar only stipulates whenever you "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"target, "},{"insert":"he cares not if the spell even resolves, however, copied spells do not count as cast triggers, beware of this. With WoV you change the color or basic land type, but you can change it to the same thing. Below are examples of some infinites you can do with WoV, assuming Orvar is on the battlefield."},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Sapphire Medallion: Copy sapphire medallion once with WoV, this reduces the buyback cost by 2, so now the buyback cost is 0. For one blue mana you may not repeatedly clone any permanent. Initially, you should copy your islands, as new islands will enter "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"UNTAPPED "},{"insert":"allowing you to then pay for the next whim of volrath. Congratulations, you now have infinite tapped islands, and next turn infinite of any permanent of your choosing."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Peregrine Drake: This one's easy, play peregrine drake, untap islands, copy it with WoV, profit 2 blue mana each time. Infinite mana, infinite flyers."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Throne of Eldraine: This one is an all-in-one game winner. Throne of eldraine taps for 4 mana (obviously choose blue) allowing you to copy it and profit one mana. Sac the tapped throne, tap the new one, copy it, rinse and repeat. Once you have infinite mana, it now also turns into card draw! Infinite mana, draw your whole deck, pretty neat."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Coveted Jewel: While not necessarily *infinite*, it's good enough to win the game. Coveted Jewel taps for three mana of any color, blue, duh. But also draws you three cards upon entering. So by itself it pays for the entirety of WoV's cost, allowing you to copy it infinitely and draw your entire deck. On the last copy, just plays Thassa's Oracle with an empty deck. Boring, I know."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Roaming Throne: Oh boy, everyone's favorite card. What more can I say that hasn't already been said. This card is an all star. He copies Orvar's triggers. Make a copy of an existing Roaming Throne on your board with WoV, you now have 3 Orvar triggers whenever you target something on your board. That alone already makes infinite tapped islands with WoV. Copy it one more time? Infinite mana. Infinite roaming thrones, infinite everything."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Sakashima of a thousand faces: Similar to Roaming Throne except now you have non-legendary copies of Orvar instead of Roaming Throne."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Spark Double: Same as Sakashima"},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx: This one can be a bit convoluted. But, as long as you have a devotion > 5, you can make infinite mana. 5 is the breakpoint as you need 3 to pay for WoV, and 2 to pay for tapping Nykthos. But once you do that, you've got infinite blue mana."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"High Tide + any instant doubler or recurrer: No permanents other than lands? No problem! Play High tide, double your mana production for one turn, copy it or bring it back from the graveyard, play it again, now your islands tap for 3 blue... You know the drill."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"There are plenty more, but I think you get the gist, WoV is the engine that makes this deck run. Oh, and did I mention, you can do all of this at "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Instant Speed?"},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Great I have infinite mana, now what? Glad you asked, now the world is your oyster. You can make infinite copies of anything you want. Here are some outlets:"},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Coveted Jewel, draw entire deck."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Throne of Eldraine, draw entire deck."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Staff of the Magus, infinite lifegain."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Aether Channeler, infinite draw, infinite 1/1 flyers, infinite bouncing."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Archaeomancer, you can now play any instant or sorcery in your graveyard... infinitely."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Archmage Emeritus, draw entire deck."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Hullbreaker horror, congrats! your opponents can literally never play the game again, every nonland permanent of theirs is bounced and you bounce every spell they cast, fun and interactive."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Micromancer, grab every cheap instant and sorcery out of your deck."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Mulldrifter, draw entire deck."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Phyrexian metamorph, infinite copies of any creature or artifact on the battlefield."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Whim of Volrath on enemy turns change basic land types to types of mana they do not have, on upkeep, they can now only play colored instants, or colorless permanents."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Mind games, tap everything on enemy turns during upkeep, no swinging, no mana. "},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"There are even lands that can sac for card draw, draw your entire deck with lands!"},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"I think by now you get the point, every creature in this deck profits from being copied infinitely, your job is just to get infinite mana. Did I mention as you do this you are making an infinitely large board of creatures? The possibilities are, dare I say, infinite."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nI've got infinite mana, my entire deck in my hand, now what? Congrats! You win, here are the finishers as options:"},{"attributes":{"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Make em scoop with any form of repeated bouncing, hullbreaker horror, Aether Channeler, etc."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"My personal favorite, with braingeyser, make each opponent draw 100,000 cards and deck themselves, bounce it back to hand with archaeomancer, and do that to every opponent."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Copy your lands, sunscorched desert deals 1 damage upon entering, kill them with lands!"},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Infinite creatures, if combat damage is your preferred route."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Take infinite turns!"},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":" and much, much more."},{"attributes":{"indent":1,"list":"ordered"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"As you can see, there are too many ways to infinite, and that's "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"ONLY "},{"insert":"with Whim of Volrath. There are plenty of similar effects you can pull off with just a one mana cantrip and an archaeomancer. It's a beautiful deck, difficult to pilot, perhaps, but truly, with this deck you can do everything possible in Magic the Gathering. There's truly nothing this deck cannot do. It's filled with tutors for WoV, weird draw cantrips to get you your lands to get to 4 mana for Orvar, counterspells, free counterspells, removal, protection for Orvar, weird color changing and text changing interactions. It's pure mono-blue madness, and it's perfect. Every single card in this deck can win you the game (I'm serious, every. single. card.) with the right accompaniments, it's up to you to figure out how to fit the puzzle pieces together and go infinite. I wish you the best of luck, and happy infinites.\n\n"}]}
