The first are mana dorks, low cmc creatures that can generate mana and make up most of the deck's early plays. These are cards such as "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Birds of Paradise"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rattleclaw Mystic"}},{"insert":" who help get the ball rolling. One important thing about this deck's mana ramp is that it is almost entirely creature based rather than the more traditional green land based ramp. This is because Animar and many other cards in the deck care about casting creature spells and/or having creatures in play, this high density of mana dorks allows for these synergies to be utilized to their fullest without giving up on the ramp the deck so desperately needs.\nThe second kind of mana production are much higher cmc \"Big Mana\" spells. Cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Palinchron"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Nyxbloom Ancient"}},{"insert":" that are intended to be game enders, utilized to generate tons or even infinite amounts of mana in order to push for a win and are rarely cast without some kind of immediate follow-up play or protective counter magic.\nCard Draw:"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Much like mana, any and every deck needs some card draw but this deck tries to take that to the extreme. With more than half of the deck's 100 cards being dedicated towards creatures these draw whenever a creature is cast effects will almost always guarantee a win if they can stick and most forms of interaction should be utilized just to keep these in play. With one of these and even just a single card in hand, Animar can find a win and so most of the deck's game plans depend upon resolving one if not more of these spells.\nWin Conditions:"},{"attributes":{"header":3},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"The pay offs for all that card draw and mana are the deck's multiple win conditions which can allow the deck to win in a number of different ways depending on the board state and convenience. On the side of interaction, little else gets the job done like counter magic which can allow for the deck to field its game winning plays without being stopped by the other players. However, this deck is not good at holding up mana as it seeks to burn through its resources fast and efficiently leaving it without much flexibility in holding up counter magic options. These interactive spells are a sparse and valuable resource and as such are normally intended to be utilized proactively to further Animar's game plan, preferably on the spot, rather than reactively to try and stop an opponent unless absolutely necessary to prevent a loss.\nUnsurprisingly, the tutors in this deck are all creature focused, searching the library for the deck's menagerie of creatures and getting them into play. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Chord of Calling"}},{"insert":" while perhaps well-known for its ability to search up big creatures is more often than not used here to get creatures in the 3 or less mana cost range. The single most powerful tutor in the deck however is "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Imperial Recruiter"}},{"insert":" and that is because of the staggering number of options it can call upon with Beast Whisperer, Peregrine Drake, Hydroid Krasis, Walking Batista, and Kiki-Jiki only being a few and being a creature itself makes it synergize with other effects that care about them and allowing the effect to easily be copied or repeated. "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Fierce Empath"}},{"insert":" while not as flexible as Imperial Recruiter certainly does it's best to pull it's weight being able to target many of the deck's heavier win cons like Palinchron, Kozilek, Soul of the Harvest, Nyxbloom Ancient, and Craterhoof Behemoth.\n\nCombos:"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Animar, Soul of Elements"}},{"insert":"/"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Ancestral Statue"}},{"insert":" is the easiest to pull off combo in the deck due to half of the combo sitting in the command zone. This combo can also be replicated with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Aluren"}},{"insert":" and one of either "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Shrieking Drake"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dream Stalker"}},{"insert":", or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Man-o'-War"}},{"insert":" as Aluren allows for them to be played without paying their mana cost.\n\n"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker"}},{"insert":"/"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Pestermite"}},{"insert":" is a classic combo that most should be familiar with, if not then the basic idea is that Kiki-Jiki taps to create a token copy of Pestermite which will then untap Kiki-Jiki when it comes into play, rinse and repeat until resulting in an endless number of creatures on the battlefield which can then be utilized in combat, by Craterhoof Behemoth, or by Purphoros, God of the Forge.
