With her now having been revealed, I present to you a decent budget deck built around the Shadow mechanic. For the backbone of this deck, we have the three shadow tribes originally printed in the Tempest set (Soltari, Thalakos, Dauthi). \n\nAs for the strategy, this deck does operate as a \"glass cannon\", especially without "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Phyrexian Splicer"}},{"insert":" on the board to give us more blockers that don't have Shadow. We also can have Lyna to give things shadow counters to have evasive turns (and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Bident of Thassa"}},{"insert":" for free draw). Admittedly, going all in with shadow seems like the natural choice for Lyna, but with the keyword enablers and payoffs, this feels like a fun take. Plus, with the Shadow counter she gives, we could've just used big boys like"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Emrakul, the Aeons Torn"}},{"insert":" to one-shot opponents and that's just boring. Also, we can have Phyrexian Splicer steal keywords from our opponent’s creatures and give them to ours.\n\nThat aside, we also have cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Learn from the Past"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Clear the Mind"}},{"insert":" to keep our library primed and full, and to recycle "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dauthi Voidwalker"}},{"insert":". We can either thieve opponents' creatures, shadowfy them and go wide, or go tall with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dauthi Warlord"}},{"insert":" for a potential win. We have some spot removal ("},{"insert":{"card-link":"Negate"}},{"insert":", Path, Swords) to keep things safe. An alternate thing we can do for removal is "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dauthi Cutthroat"}},{"insert":"; all we need to do is put Shadow on an opponent's creature and pop it (Lyna, Phyrexian Splicer, or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Temporal Isolation"}},{"insert":"). At first the Archetypes feel a bit out of place here, but they do help our plan by giving us more options while giving some additional protection, they also serve to help our \"Go unblocked\" creatures contact with the opponent to get those delicious triggers.\n\nWe have a few manlands that we can animate and give shadow for semi-creatures that are more resilient to board-wipes (outside land hate). A special mention to "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Fated Infatuation"}},{"insert":", which we can use to create copies of key Shadow creatures (looks at Dauthi Warlord, Dauthi Rogue, and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Soltari Champion"}},{"insert":"). "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Raffine, Scheming Seer"}},{"insert":", one of the prior options for the commander of this deck makes an appearance as a key draw engine alongside Thassa's Bident and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Day's Undoing"}},{"insert":", since the draws can get a little crazy, we can use the full graveyard to library recursion to keep from decking out (Plus it is a fun "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Gaea's Blessing"}},{"insert":" type effect in our colors). We also have a theft sub-theme taking advantage of both Dauthi Voidwalker and former commander "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Nihiloor"}},{"insert":", as more payoffs for what we can do with the deck, including passive drain.\n\nThe Dauthis are really pulling their weight in this brew, as we have another that I'd like to take a moment to go into detail on. Give them shadow, and slowly build up the venom. Of course this does make them big targets for removal, and that is why we are running "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Restricted Office // Lecture Hall"}},{"insert":", we don't really need to use Restricted Office except as a panic button reset, but Lecture Hall helps control those pesky Swords to Plowshares and Paths to Exile opponents might have.\n\nThe tl;dr of the strategy: Steal stuff with Dauthi Voidwalker, give the stolen creatures Shadow with Lyna or our other Shadow enablers, and either go wide or potshot with Dauthi Warlord.\n"}]}
