Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"Abdel Adrian is obviously being explored a ton by the community and there is tons of combo potential out there with this commander. But I wanted to put down in writing a bit of what is going on in the blink deck, because it wasn't immediately obvious to me. So hopefully this helps some people.\n\nThis list could easily be the one generated off of EDHREC if you went and asked for an average "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward"}},{"insert":" // "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Candlekeep Sage"}},{"insert":" deck. So I'm not deviating from the community, but just trying to solve and explain what's happening here.\n\nWe all know there are many combo opportunities when blinking creatures in and out of play. That felt intuitively obvious. What I didn't recognize off the bat was that Abdel Adrian allows for building combo equations where you can mix and match the combo pieces (of which there are many possibilities). And when you can mix and match combo pieces, the chances of creating combos go through the roof!\n\nI think there are two lines of combos to really look for with this deck, one is lean, the other is a little bloated, but still easily achievable. Below are the basic premises:\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Lean Combo Equation"},{"insert":" - Abdel Adrian + Available Blink Activation + Sufficient Mana Producing Non-Land Permanents = Infinite Tokens."},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nAn example of this would be "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward"}},{"insert":" + "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Eldrazi Displacer"}},{"insert":" + "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Thran Dynamo"}},{"insert":". So here, you'd have exiled the Thran Dynamo when Abdel initially entered, activate the Displacer to blink Abdel Adrian bringing back the Thran Dynamo, which you tap for 3. Abdel Adrian returns and exiles the Dynamo again. You have enough mana to activate the Displacer again. Repeat. Each time this produces a token.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Bloated Combo Equation"},{"insert":" - Abdel Adrian + an Instant that blinks a creature + Mana Rocks that produce equal to the blink spell's MV + a Creature that returns spells to hand = Infinite Tokens"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nAn example would be "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward"}},{"insert":" + "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Cloudshift"}},{"insert":" + "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Arcane Signet"}},{"insert":" +"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Archaeomancer"}},{"insert":". In this case, it is ideal to have the Signet and Archaeomancer tucked into Abdel's exile. Then cast Cloudshift, targeting Abdel Adrian. With the return of the Signet, we can tap to float a mana. And with the Archaeomancer's return, we bring Cloudshift back to hand. As Abdel returns, we exile the other two permanents again. Repeat for infinite tokens.\n\nThe sticky cog may be getting the right mana rocks for the job, but with the background of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Candlekeep Sage"}},{"insert":" and the repeatable draw from other permanents, it isn't hard to dig for the right ingredients for a combo.\n"}]}
