{"ops":[{"insert":"This deck was inspired by a standard deck I played back probably fifteen years ago. It was built around Global Ruin, Collective Restraint, and Spirit of Resistance. At the time none of the cards were considered valuable. It wasn’t great one on one (it was too slow) but often wrecked in multiplayer. I think I finally hit on the commander version of this.\n\nThis deck is a five color deck that relies on not the most popular cards to execute its strategy. Since it doesn’t rely on special lands, it really keeps the cost down. It does have several lands that fetch other lands to make sure I get the drops I need. It also has a large amount of ramp but all focused around grabbing more lands. This is so I don’t constantly draw lands as the game progresses. I do have a few multicolored creatures that do tap for any color, but they bring other abilities to the table. They are just extra insurance so I get the mana I need.\n\nFirst I have my mass destruction in order to slow other decks down after I have spent a few turns ramping. This is where lavalanche, savage twister, drag to the bottom, and other cards come into play. Global Ruin specifically can set my opponents back while I enjoy keeping five lands. \n\nThen I have a few protection options. Collective Restraint, Spirit of Resistance, and Clearwater Goblet provide some different options to avoid damage or gain life back. In addition I have creatures like Drune-blood Nephilim and Phylth, World Scultor to create creature tokens that I can buff or use as chump blockers. Stoic Angel is a nice option since the slow down should affect my opponents more than my deck (since I have vigilance options). \n\nFor creatures I have a variety of multicolored options. This combined with my commander, Jared Carthalion, gives me some fun options. Briar Hydra, Halana & Alena, Conqueror’s Fail, Mayael’s Aria, Knight of Alara, and other options give me fun buffing options that take advantage of multiple basic lands and/or colors. With Mayael’s Aria, this could be a win condition. Beyond this I picked things to give me options. Maarika, Muldrotha, and Sen Triplets are some examples. Some of them play off other functions, others give me ways to respond to different threats.\n\nI have Legacy Weapon as a threat removal option. Void and Unite the Coalition also provide some removal. All Sun’s Dawn helps me get cards back from my graveyard.\n\nI then have a variety of fetch and draw cards. Allied strategies helps me refill my hand while cards like Wargate help me get key cards. Conflux is the best example of this. These help me get what I need when I need it. Since I have lots of options, these can get me just what I need to get the advantage.\n\nThe deck is intended to feel like there are a range of powerful options from all the color’s of magic at your fingertips. It uses a variety of “ancient creatures” along with humans to access a variety of abilities. It packs a punch with many boardwipes to set your opponent’s back. It can do dig through its knowledge (deck) to find what it needs to take control of the board. You can use a variety of methods to endow your creatures with unmatched strength or bolster it’s defenses with powerful enchantments. It brings together strategies that unite the five basic lands and five color types to create powerful effects.\n\nif you want a but more power you can add a few more expensive cards. Omnath with his Landfall ability is a great addition. Crime / Punishment is a stronger void. Even with these substitutions it is just above $100 (when I originally made the deck). Pretty fun to play and can hit fairly hard for a deck running such cheap cards.\n"}]}
