Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"Update 1 to deck:\n\nI've been thinking through the deck a lot and I have had a few more ideas:\n\n1) I've been working potentially on a +1/+1 counter package\n\nAlright, here is what I’ve done with the secret lair:\n\nLands: I’ve included some more basic lands here and some cheaper lands because I’ve found that you can still get away with a cheaper mana base, and I’ve made sure none of your lands always come in tapped. Every land included has a method of entering untapped built in, and they aren’t stupid expensive.\n\nRamp package: Some of these I’ve picked because they match the theme, the others are just pet cards of mine that I enjoy using, let’s go through them\n\nStudious First-Year, Rampant Growth, Farseek and Shared Roots: All fire ramp spells that will help you find the basics you’re looking for, but require a start with a green mana\nWorld Map and Thror’s Map: great colourless fixing sources, with world map being able to get any land, like command tower or command bridge, and Thror’s map also being a draw engine\nDiscerning Financier and Beorn, Reluctant Host: Two flavor wins in my opinion, the host part of Beorn I think is funny and if you start early with 3-4 lands in hand he gets you an untapped land earlier. Discerning Financier is also a ton of fun as well, helping with mana and card draw.\n\nRemoval Package: No matter what people say, you’re gonna need to do some dirty work and remove a thing or two. I’ve kept this package small but with enough variety that you should never feel like you don’t have an answer.\n\nBushwhack: Great pick because if you don’t need removal, it can ramp you as well. \nSmelt is so underplayed and it can deal with a tricky artifact no problem. \nBarroom brawl is a flavor spell and an absolute ton of fun to see how many people copy it, my record is 3 trips around the table. \nBovine Intervention, Contraband Livestock and Emergency Eject all fall under the same hood of removal spells that still give your opponent something, even if it will be worse than what you removed. \nGiantfall is just great for both creature and artifact removal. \nOrigin of Metalbending is also a protection spell on top of removal. \nFinally, our 2 board wipes. I find you never really need more than 2, and each of these should still hopefully leave you enough to be on top. Fall of the first civilization lulls the opponents into a bit of a false sense of security, giving some cards out, then 2 turns later wiping all non land permanents except for you and each opponent’s top 3, but that’s why we keep spot removal. Slaughter the strong will take out your opponents that build up big creatures, and also let’s you keep a couple of things.\n\nDraw: I’ve kept quite a few of the cards you had here, they’re great picks, but I added just a couple fun ones as well that keep with the group hug theme.\n\nSuper Intelligence: I assume your commander won’t leave the battlefield often, so for 1 more mana why not draw an extra card each turn?\nKwain and Sokrates: Two great political draw pieces, great for the theme\nTatyova: You’re gonna play a ton of lands, may as well get value for them\n\nFood Package: I noticed in your deck you had a bit of a token stuff going on with drawing your second card each turn, which I love, however, I took a bit of a different spin on things, especially with academy manufactor in the deck. I’ve added a small food package into the deck that each card on their own has a decent function, but together you get some serious business.\n\nOur food package is the following cards:\n\nPeregrin Took: makes foods when you make tokens, sac 3 foods for a card\nRocco, Street Chef: Group huggy, also gives you more cards, counters and food\nIgnis Scientia: Ramp on Entry, gives you some graveyard hate, and makes food\nSamwise Gamgee: One of my favourite cards of all time, makes tons of food and is a good recursion piece\nAstrid Peth: makes food and can also be a good beater\nIroh, Tea Master: A funny group hug guy, gives you tokens as well\nSam, Loyal Attendant: guaranteed food per turn and makes your foods cheaper to pop\nApothecary White: decent food generation but also very good for making tokens\nButterbur, Bree Innkeeper: Who doesn’t love guaranteed food?\nBaylen, the Haymaker: great token payoff, can draw cards, be a beater, and make mana in a pinch\n\nBeaters: These are the creatures that you’ll probably end up swinging the most, because combat is gonna happen no matter what\n\nXyris: A great card that you’ve put in here, gonna put in work and draw you cards\nBaylen: Not all the time, but if you get a pile of tokens he could be a good beater:\nAstrid: Harder to get started, but great once off the ground\nRoyal Serpent: Has the flying evasion and also has a good death trigger, bring it back a ton with Samwise\nBeorn: 5/5 Trample screams let me hit something\nApothecary White: This one is also more of a maybe, only if you have a good attack for sure\n\nFinisher: You’ve kind of got 3 ways to win in this deck here, I’ve kept millennium calendar because hell yeah it rocks, you can win through your opponents whittling each other down and then using some of the beaters to finish the game out, or I’ve added a sneaky third option. We have a ton of card draw in this deck. Like A lot. You could be drawing 5 plus cards a turn pretty easily, and max out probably close to 15 cards. That’s why I’ve snuck in the Lab Man. Winning with Laboratory Maniac is an unmatched feeling, so try and pull it off.\n\nTest 1 Turn 7: Was able to cast commander on turn 4, had 10 lands, commander, Beorn, Sokrates, Tatyova, Thror’s Map and the Council of Four with removal in hand if needed. 6 cards in hand by end of turn.\n\nTest 2 Turn 7: Was able to cast commander on turn 3, had 8 lands, commander, Astrid, Lab Man, Kwain, Joined researchers, Sokrates, Samwise, Sol Ring and Noble Heritage with 2 foods. Had removal in hand as well. 7 cards in hand by end of turn\n\nTest 3 Turn 7: Was able to cast commander on turn 4, had 8 lands, commander, Lab Man, Studious First-Year, Royal Serpent, Krobus, Noble Heritage and chromatic lantern. Had removal in hand as well, 4 cards in hand by end of turn.\n\nTest 4 Turn 7: Was able to cast commander on turn 3, had 7 lands, commander, arcane signet, rites of flourishing, discerning financier, Willie Lumpkin, Sokrates, Kwain, Iroh, Astrid, Noble heritage and 2 foods. Had removal in hand as well, 7 cards in hand by end of turn.\n\n"}]}
