The frogs don't care. It is keeping track of what is in the graveyard, what can still be recovered, what is already on the battlefield, and which incomplete line is currently closest to becoming lethal.\n\n---\n\n**Bracket 3 and Power Level**\n\nThis is a **Bracket 3** deck because of the combo density and the way it is intended to play.\n\nThe current build contains **no Game Changers**.\n\nThat is a deckbuilding choice, not an attempt to push it into a lower bracket.\n\nThere are also plenty of cards that could make the deck more deterministic. [[Lotuslight Dancers]] is one example among many: it can put exact combo pieces into the graveyard and can then be reanimated or blinked.\n\nThat is strong.\n\nIt is also not really what I want this deck to do.\n\nR.I.BBIT is supposed to work with whatever the pond gives it, not always put exactly the right things into the pond.\n\n---\n\n**Feeding the Pond**\n\nIf I do not need a card right now, I am usually fine with milling it.\n\nThe main tools are things like [[Glarb, Calamity's Augur]], [[Hermit Druid]], [[Hedron Crab]], [[Hedge Shredder]], [[Life from the Loam]], [[Skull Prophet]], [[Ripples of Undeath]], [[Glimpse the Unthinkable]], [[Traumatize]] and [[Increasing Confusion]].\n\nThe goal is not a perfect graveyard.\n\nThe goal is enough material that something useful is almost certainly down there.\n\nAt some point the question changes from:\n\n> “What should I mill?”\n\nto:\n\n> **“Which line is closest from here?”**\n\n---\n\n**Glarb**\n\n[[Glarb, Calamity's Augur]] mostly keeps the current moving.\n\nI like that he is not required for any game-ending combo. If he gets removed, the deck still works just fine.\n\nDeathtouch also makes him a decent deterrent. He is rarely threatening enough to attract removal, but attacking into him is still annoying.\n\nMost of the time I use Surveil 2 in the end step before my turn, then untap with a slightly cleaner top of the library and a slightly dirtier graveyard.\n\nBecause I can always see the top card, [[Radical Idea]] can occasionally pull something useful away before another separate mill trigger resolves.\n\nAnd if [[Intruder Alarm]] gets involved, Glarb can suddenly work through basically the whole library.\n\nAt that point the frogs stop waiting for the current and start choosing what comes downstream.\n\n---\n\n**Some Self-Mill Engines**\n\n**[[Hedron Crab]] + [[Hedge Shredder]]**\n\nCrab mills lands, Shredder puts them onto the battlefield, and those lands trigger Crab again.\n\nSometimes it stops immediately.\n\nSometimes half the deck disappears underwater.\n\nBoth are fine.\n\n**[[Hermit Druid]]**\n\nI deliberately run enough basics that Hermit Druid is not just a one-card library dump.\n\nEarly it is repeatable self-mill plus a land.\n\nLater, as basics disappear, the activations naturally get deeper.\n\n[[Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler]] and [[Intruder Alarm]] can make it considerably more explosive.\n\n---\n\n**Fishing Things Back Out**\n\nThe graveyard is less a discard pile and more a muddy second hand.\n\nImportant ways back include [[Reanimate]], [[Dread Return]], [[Apprentice Necromancer]], [[Genesis]], [[Eternal Witness]], [[Noxious Revival]], [[Squirming Emergence]], [[The Cruelty of Gix]] and [[Lier, Disciple of the Drowned]].\n\nSome spells are also still useful after being milled, especially [[Dread Return]], [[Memory's Journey]], [[Radical Idea]] and [[Increasing Confusion]].\n\nThe point is not to avoid milling important cards.\n\nThe point is knowing how to reach back into the mud once something useful shows up.\n\n---\n\n**Frog-Bombs**\n\nI am only summarizing the lines here. Read Ahead lets it immediately find whatever is missing, especially useful once an infinite-mana engine is already online.\n\n---\n\n**The Frogs**\n\nThis is not really Frog tribal in the normal sense.\n\nThe frogs are not here to build an army.\n\nThey mostly sit around the pond until one of them notices something useful.\n\n[[Glarb, Calamity's Augur]] keeps the current moving.\n\n[[Psychic Frog]] is strong on its own and part of a main combo.\n\n[[Lilysplash Mentor]] is the engineer.\n\n[[Poison Dart Frog]] makes mana and discourages attacks.\n\n[[Dour Port-Mage]] turns blinking into cards.\n\n[[Three Tree Scribe]] turns blinking into counters.\n\n[[Twenty-Toed Toad]] has decided that twenty is the correct number of everything.\n\n[[The Gitrog Monster]] is a land engine and a six-power Selvala battery.\n\n[[Yargle and Multani]] has 18 power.\n\nThat is the paragraph.\n\n[[Spore Frog]] politely asks combat decks to come back next turn.\n\n---\n\n**The Mana Base**\n\nThe lands are part of the machinery.\n\n[[Lotus Field]] is a combo piece.\n\n[[Simic Growth Chamber]], [[Golgari Rot Farm]] and [[Dimir Aqueduct]] work especially well with [[Cloud of Faeries]].\n\nFetch lands double-trigger [[Hedron Crab]] and work naturally with [[Life from the Loam]].\n\nI also keep enough basics that [[Hermit Druid]] remains powerful without becoming a deterministic one-card self-mill combo.\n\n[[Bojuka Bog]], [[Buried Ruin]] and [[Mistrise Village]] all provide useful utility beyond fixing mana.\n\n---\n\n**Draining the Pond**\n\nGraveyard hate is the deck's clearest weakness.\n\nLosing one important card is usually manageable.\n\nLosing most of the graveyard at once can remove several possible lines simultaneously.\n\n[[Mirror of Fate]] is the emergency plan after someone has already drained the pond.\n\nIt can turn a handful of face-up exiled cards into a new miniature library.\n\nOnce I activate it, I am generally accepting that the game needs to end pretty soon.\n\n> **Bonus points for whoever manages to build a homemade Doomsday with [[Bojuka Bog]] and [[Mirror of Fate]] and actually wins with it.**\n\n---\n\n**Protection and Timing**\n\nProtection here is a mix of interaction, recursion and knowing when to commit.\n\nRelevant cards include [[Bound // Determined]], [[Malevolent Hermit]], [[Misdirection]], [[Long River's Pull]], [[Into the Flood Maw]] and [[Lightning Greaves]].\n\nThere are also some timing restrictions worth remembering:\n\n* [[Kheru Goldkeeper]] only works during my turn\n* [[Lilysplash Mentor]] works at sorcery speed\n* [[Valley Floodcaller]] can radically change when noncreature spells are usable\n* [[Lier, Disciple of the Drowned]] changes how the graveyard functions\n* separate mill triggers can be interacted with between resolutions\n\nThese matter, but the harder part is still recognizing what the current pile of cards can actually become.\n\n---\n\n**When Does the Frog-Bomb Go Off?**\n\nVery good hands can threaten something around turns **5–6**.\n\nThe first realistic combo attempts are more often around **turns 6–7**.\n\nA comfortable window is usually **turns 7–9**, with roughly **turn 8** being a reasonable expectation.\n\nI also do not think the deck should always go for it the second a line appears.\n\nSometimes another turn means a deeper graveyard, another recursion piece or a much safer bomb.\n\n---\n\n**Mulligans**\n\nI do not mulligan aggressively for combo pieces.\n\nI mainly want:\n\n* enough lands\n* access to my colors\n* something useful to do early\n* either mana development or self-mill\n\nThe pond can provide the rest later.\n\n---\n\n**Closing the Pond**\n\nThe deck is not trying to solve the same puzzle every game.\n\nIt keeps feeding the pond until the water is thick with possibilities.\n\nCards sink.\n\nLands disappear into the mud.\n\nOld spells settle at the bottom.\n\nThe frogs wait.\n\nEventually one of them sees something.\n\n[[Psychic Frog]] finds [[Kheru Goldkeeper]] and [[Ovalchase Daredevil]].\n\n[[Lilysplash Mentor]] discovers that the [[Cloud of Faeries]] which sank five turns ago is suddenly useful.\n\n[[Hedron Crab]] and [[Hedge Shredder]] cause a small landslide and half the deck disappears underwater.\n\nOr maybe everyone is already at eighteen life and [[Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord]] is standing next to [[Yargle and Multani]].\n\nAt some point the frogs pull the right pieces from the muck.\n\nThe bomb goes off.\n\nThe ripples travel once around the table.\n\nThen the dirty current fades.\n\nThe pond becomes still.\n\nAnd, after a moment:\n\n**ribbit.**\n"}]}

Read Ahead lets it immediately find whatever is missing, especially useful once an infinite-mana engine is already online.\n\n---\n\n**The Frogs**\n\nThis is not really Frog tribal in the normal sense.\n\nThe frogs are not here to build an army.\n\nThey mostly sit around the pond until one of them notices something useful.\n\n[[Glarb, Calamity's Augur]] keeps the current moving.\n\n[[Psychic Frog]] is strong on its own and part of a main combo.\n\n[[Lilysplash Mentor]] is the engineer.\n\n[[Poison Dart Frog]] makes mana and discourages attacks.\n\n[[Dour Port-Mage]] turns blinking into cards.\n\n[[Three Tree Scribe]] turns blinking into counters.\n\n[[Twenty-Toed Toad]] has decided that twenty is the correct number of everything.\n\n[[The Gitrog Monster]] is a land engine and a six-power Selvala battery.\n\n[[Yargle and Multani]] has 18 power.\n\nThat is the paragraph.\n\n[[Spore Frog]] politely asks combat decks to come back next turn.\n\n---\n\n**The Mana Base**\n\nThe lands are part of the machinery.\n\n[[Lotus Field]] is a combo piece.\n\n[[Simic Growth Chamber]], [[Golgari Rot Farm]] and [[Dimir Aqueduct]] work especially well with [[Cloud of Faeries]].\n\nFetch lands double-trigger [[Hedron Crab]] and work naturally with [[Life from the Loam]].\n\nI also keep enough basics that [[Hermit Druid]] remains powerful without becoming a deterministic one-card self-mill combo.\n\n[[Bojuka Bog]], [[Buried Ruin]] and [[Mistrise Village]] all provide useful utility beyond fixing mana.\n\n---\n\n**Draining the Pond**\n\nGraveyard hate is the deck's clearest weakness.\n\nLosing one important card is usually manageable.\n\nLosing most of the graveyard at once can remove several possible lines simultaneously.\n\n[[Mirror of Fate]] is the emergency plan after someone has already drained the pond.\n\nIt can turn a handful of face-up exiled cards into a new miniature library.\n\nOnce I activate it, I am generally accepting that the game needs to end pretty soon.\n\n> **Bonus points for whoever manages to build a homemade Doomsday with [[Bojuka Bog]] and [[Mirror of Fate]] and actually wins with it.**\n\n---\n\n**Protection and Timing**\n\nProtection here is a mix of interaction, recursion and knowing when to commit.\n\nRelevant cards include [[Bound // Determined]], [[Malevolent Hermit]], [[Misdirection]], [[Long River's Pull]], [[Into the Flood Maw]] and [[Lightning Greaves]].\n\nThere are also some timing restrictions worth remembering:\n\n* [[Kheru Goldkeeper]] only works during my turn\n* [[Lilysplash Mentor]] works at sorcery speed\n* [[Valley Floodcaller]] can radically change when noncreature spells are usable\n* [[Lier, Disciple of the Drowned]] changes how the graveyard functions\n* separate mill triggers can be interacted with between resolutions\n\nThese matter, but the harder part is still recognizing what the current pile of cards can actually become.\n\n---\n\n**When Does the Frog-Bomb Go Off?**\n\nVery good hands can threaten something around turns **5–6**.\n\nThe first realistic combo attempts are more often around **turns 6–7**.\n\nA comfortable window is usually **turns 7–9**, with roughly **turn 8** being a reasonable expectation.\n\nI also do not think the deck should always go for it the second a line appears.\n\nSometimes another turn means a deeper graveyard, another recursion piece or a much safer bomb.\n\n---\n\n**Mulligans**\n\nI do not mulligan aggressively for combo pieces.\n\nI mainly want:\n\n* enough lands\n* access to my colors\n* something useful to do early\n* either mana development or self-mill\n\nThe pond can provide the rest later.\n\n---\n\n**Closing the Pond**\n\nThe deck is not trying to solve the same puzzle every game.\n\nIt keeps feeding the pond until the water is thick with possibilities.\n\nCards sink.\n\nLands disappear into the mud.\n\nOld spells settle at the bottom.\n\nThe frogs wait.\n\nEventually one of them sees something.\n\n[[Psychic Frog]] finds [[Kheru Goldkeeper]] and [[Ovalchase Daredevil]].\n\n[[Lilysplash Mentor]] discovers that the [[Cloud of Faeries]] which sank five turns ago is suddenly useful.\n\n[[Hedron Crab]] and [[Hedge Shredder]] cause a small landslide and half the deck disappears underwater.\n\nOr maybe everyone is already at eighteen life and [[Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord]] is standing next to [[Yargle and Multani]].\n\nAt some point the frogs pull the right pieces from the muck.\n\nThe bomb goes off.\n\nThe ripples travel once around the table.\n\nThen the dirty current fades.\n\nThe pond becomes still.\n\nAnd, after a moment:\n\n**ribbit.**\n"}]}
