Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"$50 COMPETITIVE TOURNAMENT REVISION\n\nVren, the Relentless retains the tournament source commander and its exile-to-Rat engine, but this is a new 66-slot competitive rebuild rather than a claim about the source list's current power.\n\nTournament source: Vren, the Relentless piloted by Jaume Ribo, 4th of 35 with a 1-1-0 record at Commander Budget on 14 July 2025. The direct list and result are Tier B evidence because the complete event budget rules were not independently verified.\n\nSource list: https://topdeck.gg/deck/commander-budget-1407/wNI3fj5B1AOf5gmZ9cJo6tunigU2\nStandings: https://edhtop16.com/tournament/commander-budget-1407\nPrivate source-exact original: https://archidekt.com/decks/26309830\n\nPlan: cast Vren with protection available, then use each-player edict creatures and spells, instant removal, and selective exile to trigger Rat production on as many end steps as possible. Viscera Seer, Woe Strider, Dockside Chef, Plumb the Forbidden, Deadly Dispute, and Village Rites turn expendable bodies into selection or cards. Piper grants menace, Ogre Slumlord grants deathtouch, Mask grants flying and a refill, and large Rats convert Tainted Strike into a one-opponent tactical kill. Mirkwood Bats and Valley Rotcaller give finite life-loss reach when combat stalls.\n\nRules notes: Vren replaces opposing creature deaths with exile, so Ogre Slumlord does not trigger from those opposing creatures; it still grants deathtouch and can trigger from another nontoken creature you control dying. A lone Vren-created Rat is 2/2 while Vren remains in play. Destroy effects count when Vren replaces the death with exile, and direct exile also counts; exiling cards from graveyards does not. Tainted Strike is finite and targets one creature; it is not an infinite or win-the-game effect.\n\nScoring tradeoffs: the list carries Toxic Deluge and Crippling Fear because surviving or clearing a decisive board matters more than avoiding every possible penalty. Casting more than one board-wipe or mass-removal spell in a match incurs -2. Because the supplied rules do not define whether each-player edicts count as mass removal, get the organizer's ruling and track those casts conservatively. The deck has no intended infinite loop, extra-turn chain, or explicit win-the-game card. First combat damage and multi-player combat eliminations are realistic upside, but they are secondary to securing the seven-point win.\n\nPricing checked 11 September 2026 at 22:48 UTC: Archidekt Mana Pool $45.57; dated in-stock ordinary NM sum $48.06; conservative per-card max of those two price sources $49.13. Commander included and ordinary basics excluded. All selected nonbasic printings had positive prices. Prices can change; recheck before registration. This adapted list has not itself earned the source tournament result.\n"}]}
