Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"This series of instructional decks are designed to help new players learn the strengths of each color. Each one will discuss two major themes and two major creatures types in that color. This one focuses on black, B, the color of metal, domination, and control.\n\nWhile all colors have some interaction with artifacts, black has the deepest connection, even moreso than colorless. This may have simply started as a pun on \"blacksmith\", but has come to represent the color's rejection of the natural world and desire to change its surroundings as it sees fit. [[Cranial Plating]] and [[Glaze Fiend]] get stronger with more artifacts, and [[Skeleton Shard]] and [[Painsmith]] provide crucial support.\n\nJust as black wants to take control of its surroundings, it also wants to be the biggest, scariest thing out there. [[Delraich]], [[Rot-Curse Rakshasa]], and [[Minion of the Wastes]] show off this color's incredible mana:stats ratio. With +1/+1 counters, +X/+0 effects, and a selection of passive buffs from Auras, black's creatures can get huge. Many of its creatures natively have trample, so it can put [[Hatred]] and [[Demonic Appetite]] to good use.\n\nTwo characteristic creature types for black are Walls and Giants. Walls set boundaries around black, and as its power expands, so does its range of influence. Walls aren't there for protection, they're enforcing black's desires on the world around it. Giants are one of the few creature types reliably big enough to break down those walls, so black will naturally want them on its own side.\n\nWith the desire to shape the world and the might to back it up, black is a force to be reckoned with. From strong early game defense to overpowering late game attacks, black will take over a match and crush all opposition. And while black likes its big smashy creatures, it has a particular fondness for the bulk of Giants. Many of these get cheaper or bigger with lots of creatures in your graveyard, providing a surefire way to dominate the endgame.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"Disclaimer: Do not use this deck to teach the game unless you want your learner to be very confused later."},{"insert":"\n"}]}
