Magda is obligatory: she generates treasures, tutors for dragons when necessary, and can end the game herself as well with a few activations. Sarkhan is basically a dragon anyway and ETBs a treasure. Reckless Barbarian and Dragonlord's Servant can help ramp in addition to hitting face. Ragavan is here because he's Ragavan, he's a cheap beater that makes treasures and that's what you're here to do. The deck can assuredly be further optimized (using cards like Professional Face-Breaker, but a deliberate choice was made to only utilize dragons or dragon-synergist creatures as much as possible.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Dragon-artifact synergies."},{"insert":" The treasure generation theme also allows a few less common dragon inclusions, such as Chiss-Goria and Furnace Hellkite, both of which have affinity for artifacts. Chiss-Goria in particular can help flip into more ramp, treasure-generating equipment, or strong cards like Roaming Throne or Portal to Phyrexia. There's also Hellkite Igniter, a hasty boy that for an additonal two mana gets power equal to the number of artifacts you control. Dowsing Dagger is included to put this effect on ANY creature you control, potentially making for an easy commander damage win.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Fuel. "},{"insert":"Rain of Riches is here as a treasure payoff to cascade into more cards. The deck includes the \"draw X cards and make X treasures\" spells for synergy and additional draw. A few cards like Season of the Bold, Atsushi, and Bonehoard Dracosaur can either impulse draw or net treasures as needed. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Interaction."},{"insert":" Decks need to have at least some interaction, so this deck does. Spiteful Banditry is the key one, since it nets you treasures and clears early boards. Crackle With Power can hit several targets or just end the game as a treasure outlet. A lot of the classics are here, along with a couple of redirect/protection spells for Knuckles or key dragons. Other cards like Dragon Tempest, Terror of the Peaks, and Parapet Thrasher double for removal as needed. These can be modified for taste or based on your experience with the deck. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Game Changers."},{"insert":" This deck was designed for the mid-tier bracket three, which means a limit of three game changers. Jeska's Will is here for mana acceleration, potential storm, and card draw, but could be replace with Seething Song or something else with a loss of flexibility. Gamble helps find pieces you might want. Ancient Tomb is here because this is a dragon deck that wants to attack, and the faster Knuckles/Dragons are beating face and making treasures, the better. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Manabase."},{"insert":" Mostly mountains. Cavern of Souls is mandatory if you want to resolve creatures; name dragons or warrior. There are a handful of nonbasics that generate treasure tokens, and those are all included. Arena of Glory is great in every red deck. Fomori Vault can help search for key cards once your treasure counts are up. Volatile Fault is here to nix a key nonbasic from an opponent if necessary, netting a treasure in the process. You could just as easily run something like Ghost Quarter or other nonbasic land hate in red. If you really want to make your table hate you, you could play Blood Moon effects, or go into a Valakut/all mountains mix and play Ruination or Boom//Bust once you can sustain yourself on treasure tokens. Wouldn't recommend it, though. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Upgrades."},{"insert":" There are other cards that would work pretty well with this deck like Mox Opal and The One Ring. Slot them in if you like; the intent here was to try something a little different and avoid too many auto-includes. The Maybeboard section contains other cards I looked at while making the deck that might give ideas.\n\nIf you got this far, thanks for reading!\n"}]}

Smaug, Ganax, Goldspan Dragon, et cetera. Of note:\nSwashbuckler Extraordinaire can help get double-strike on the non-Knuckles creatures. You get the sacrificed treasure right back for multiple hits on different opponents. They also count towards affinity requirements and artifact count. Personally, I love equipment; these could probably be cut, but they do help snowball into a lot of treasures early. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Curve considerations."},{"insert":" There are a few low-cost dragons and non-dragons in the deck, serving for both their effects and as low-CMC combat platforms for equipment. Magda is obligatory: she generates treasures, tutors for dragons when necessary, and can end the game herself as well with a few activations. Sarkhan is basically a dragon anyway and ETBs a treasure. Reckless Barbarian and Dragonlord's Servant can help ramp in addition to hitting face. Ragavan is here because he's Ragavan, he's a cheap beater that makes treasures and that's what you're here to do. The deck can assuredly be further optimized (using cards like Professional Face-Breaker, but a deliberate choice was made to only utilize dragons or dragon-synergist creatures as much as possible.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Dragon-artifact synergies."},{"insert":" The treasure generation theme also allows a few less common dragon inclusions, such as Chiss-Goria and Furnace Hellkite, both of which have affinity for artifacts. Chiss-Goria in particular can help flip into more ramp, treasure-generating equipment, or strong cards like Roaming Throne or Portal to Phyrexia. There's also Hellkite Igniter, a hasty boy that for an additonal two mana gets power equal to the number of artifacts you control. Dowsing Dagger is included to put this effect on ANY creature you control, potentially making for an easy commander damage win.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Fuel. "},{"insert":"Rain of Riches is here as a treasure payoff to cascade into more cards. The deck includes the \"draw X cards and make X treasures\" spells for synergy and additional draw. A few cards like Season of the Bold, Atsushi, and Bonehoard Dracosaur can either impulse draw or net treasures as needed. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Interaction."},{"insert":" Decks need to have at least some interaction, so this deck does. Spiteful Banditry is the key one, since it nets you treasures and clears early boards. Crackle With Power can hit several targets or just end the game as a treasure outlet. A lot of the classics are here, along with a couple of redirect/protection spells for Knuckles or key dragons. Other cards like Dragon Tempest, Terror of the Peaks, and Parapet Thrasher double for removal as needed. These can be modified for taste or based on your experience with the deck. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Game Changers."},{"insert":" This deck was designed for the mid-tier bracket three, which means a limit of three game changers. Jeska's Will is here for mana acceleration, potential storm, and card draw, but could be replace with Seething Song or something else with a loss of flexibility. Gamble helps find pieces you might want. Ancient Tomb is here because this is a dragon deck that wants to attack, and the faster Knuckles/Dragons are beating face and making treasures, the better. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Manabase."},{"insert":" Mostly mountains. Cavern of Souls is mandatory if you want to resolve creatures; name dragons or warrior. There are a handful of nonbasics that generate treasure tokens, and those are all included. Arena of Glory is great in every red deck. Fomori Vault can help search for key cards once your treasure counts are up. Volatile Fault is here to nix a key nonbasic from an opponent if necessary, netting a treasure in the process. You could just as easily run something like Ghost Quarter or other nonbasic land hate in red. If you really want to make your table hate you, you could play Blood Moon effects, or go into a Valakut/all mountains mix and play Ruination or Boom//Bust once you can sustain yourself on treasure tokens. Wouldn't recommend it, though. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Upgrades."},{"insert":" There are other cards that would work pretty well with this deck like Mox Opal and The One Ring. Slot them in if you like; the intent here was to try something a little different and avoid too many auto-includes. The Maybeboard section contains other cards I looked at while making the deck that might give ideas.\n\nIf you got this far, thanks for reading!\n"}]}
