Description
{"ops":[{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Arcbound/Modular tribal"},{"insert":". Sephiroth helms this deck because all arcbound creatures automatically count as modified creatures with 0 stats, giving the largest possible benefit to creatures effected by Sephiroth's attack trigger, meaning even something like Arcbound Worker hits the table as a 1-mana 8/6 on attack, which helps offset the higher than average size-to-cost ratio you tend to see on modular creatures. Plan is to make an army of big beaters by pumping and trading counters between blockers and attackers with modular, throwing in a handful of way to pump the board through counters and a few sac outlets and ways to play modular creatures back from the graveyard. Sephiroth's own triggered ability helps act as an occasional sac outlet and a way to keep him in the game more reliably if he gets countered or hit with spot removal, with a few other sac outlets to try and let me pick and choose who dies and how counters get distributed, but the main method is really to be throwing bots around the table during combat and then transferring counters to build up larger creatures over time, with Reconnaissance helping me swing often while letting me protect choice creatures and choose which creatures I want to allow to die. Agatha's Soul Cauldron is there to give things like Arcbound Ravager and Crystalline Crawler a little broader usage across the deck if I'm not able to reliably replay cards with beneficial activated abilities, and cards like Smile at Death and Arcbound Reclaimer help recur my modular creatures somewhat repeatably, with larger spells like Wake the Past and Roar of Reclamation allowing mass board rebuilds after a wipe. Reunion of the House works especially well there as I would be able to replay all modular creatures in the grave without counting against the total power limit on the card, as all modular creatures are base. Liquimetal Torque is there to let Sephiroth be a target for modular counters leaving the battlefield, as he's the only non-artifact creature featured in the deck. Urza's Cave and Thespian Stage exist to hopefully tutor for Karn's Bastion and then copy it, giving a more reliable way to proliferate existing counters on modular creatures. Plan is to be constantly sac-ing or swinging and then replaying modular creatures to build up counters, with several cards to pump counters across the board or proliferate existing counters to make it easier to stack counters on important creatures or large beaters to try and wear past someone's defenses. Moxite Refinery and The Ozolith sit in the deck to help protect counters that would leave from non-modular creatures and allow them to continue to be recycled and reused. \n"}]}
