{"ops":[{"insert":"This deck is my take on mono-black Zombie tribal, built around the idea that my creatures should be useful both on the battlefield and in the graveyard. Rather than relying exclusively on combat damage, I use Zombies as a resource: they can be sacrificed for mana, cards, or other advantages, then brought back to continue generating value. Sheoldred, Whispering One is the centerpiece of that strategy. Her ability to return a creature from my graveyard every upkeep allows me to sacrifice creatures aggressively while maintaining a steady stream of bodies. The deck therefore plays like traditional Zombie tribal on the surface, but underneath it is an aristocrats, graveyard-recursion, and combo deck.\n\nEarly in the game, I prioritize establishing mana and a low-cost Zombie presence. Gravecrawler, Champion of the Perished, Cryptbreaker, Carrion Feeder, and Shambling Ghast give me cheap creatures that can establish pressure while providing material for my sacrifice engines. I don't need to rush into combat; my priority is developing the board while setting up my graveyard and mana. Jet Medallion, Sol Ring, Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual, Culling the Weak, and Phyrexian Tower can accelerate me into my more powerful engines ahead of schedule.\n\nMy Zombie lords turn the board into a legitimate combat threat. Death Baron, Lord of the Accursed, Lord of the Undead, Cemetery Reaper, and Undead Warchief allow a collection of relatively small creatures to become a serious army. At the same time, cards such as Champion of the Perished, Diregraf Colossus, Endless Ranks of the Dead, and Open the Graves reward me for continually adding Zombies to the battlefield.\n\nThe most important decision while piloting the deck is knowing when to sacrifice my creatures. Carrion Feeder, Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, and Warren Soultrader allow me to turn creatures into tangible resources. I can sacrifice a Zombie in response to removal, convert it into mana, draw a card, or trigger my death-based effects. Undead Augur, Midnight Reaper, and Deadly Dispute keep the cards flowing, while Vengeful Dead, Plague Belcher, and Funeral Room turn those sacrifices into damage.\n\nMy graveyard is effectively a second hand. Entomb, Vile Entomber, and Sidisi, Undead Vizier allow me to find specific creatures, while Reanimate, Victimize, Zombie Apocalypse, and especially Sheoldred allow me to bring important pieces back. This means I am comfortable trading creatures early because I know I can recover them later. Sheoldred is particularly powerful once my sacrifice engine is established: I can sacrifice a creature for value and then have Sheoldred return it on my next upkeep, effectively turning one creature into a repeatable resource.\n\nThe deck's primary combo is Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar + another Zombie. With another Zombie on the battlefield, I can sacrifice Gravecrawler to Phyrexian Altar for {B}, then spend that mana to cast Gravecrawler from my graveyard. Repeating this creates an arbitrarily large number of sacrifice and cast triggers. A payoff such as Vengeful Dead, Plague Belcher, Funeral Room, or Bontu's Monument converts the loop into a win. I don't need to assemble the combo immediately; because the deck naturally fills the graveyard and tutors for creatures, I can transition into the combo once the table has been softened up or the necessary pieces are available.\n\nIf the combo is unavailable, I have two strong alternative paths to victory. The first is simply overwhelming the table with Zombies. Zombie lords, token producers, and recursion can create a board large enough that Lord of the Accursed can make the entire army extremely difficult to block. The second is a big-mana finish. Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Three Tree City allow the deck to produce enormous amounts of mana once my board is established. That mana can be converted directly into a lethal Torment of Hailfire.\n\nMy removal package allows me to play a controlling role when necessary. Damnation, Toxic Deluge, Deadly Rollick, Force of Despair, Accursed Marauder, Fleshbag Marauder, and Noxious Ghoul let me clear opposing boards while often benefiting from my own death triggers and recursion. Feed the Swarm, Go for the Throat, and Murderous Rider handle problematic permanents that would otherwise interfere with my engine.\n\nOverall, I want the deck to feel like it is constantly rebuilding itself. My Zombies attack when combat is advantageous, die when their deaths are more valuable, return from the graveyard when I need them, and eventually become fuel for an infinite combo or a massive finishing spell. Sheoldred gives the deck inevitability, the Zombie package provides board presence, the sacrifice engines provide resources, and the graveyard connects everything together. The result is a deck that can win through tribal aggression, aristocrats-style attrition, overwhelming mana, or a compact combo while maintaining the identity of a dedicated Zombie deck.\n"}]}
