{"ops":[{"insert":"I wanted a Grixis deck. I like Akido style play and wanted a theft deck that was not universally hated. Something I could play often without (too many) groans. Then this Eden hit me. \n\nEdea seems crafted to be a “nice” theft commander. More borrow than theft really. Now some look at her and immediately want to make her degenerate. Lots of graveyard stax to avoid giving creatures back. I was not interested in that. I would play it 2-3x and no one would want to see it again. So what if I leaned into what she was designed to do? Doing that with clones and copying triggers. Using sac outlets and her draw ability to build resources. Turns out to be fun and decently powerful. \n\nThis is designed to play in B2. It can hang in B3, but is not likely to win a ton in B3. For me that is fine. I want as much of a fun and unique experience as I can get, which often does not result in a win. Edea creates unique experiences and can keep you in the game a while. \n\nAs an example, I once was able to borrow a token doubler, clone it. Then borrowed a Marneus Calgar, cloned it as non-legendary, so got two copies. This also happened with Impostor Syndrome on the board. Once I hit with my new Marneus’s with double-strike., I was then making a ton of tokens and drawing 15 cards a turn. Christmas land for sure. \n\nI do include 2 ways to legit steal a creature: Ghostly Flicker and Conjurer’s Closet. I have only used these when I think the salt is worth it. Usually once the game is 1v1. \n\nThis deck will struggle against decks with a lot of built in protection, hexproof, or shroud. Also will struggle against aggro go wide strategies. Consistent board wipes will be a slog. While the deck doesn’t have a ton of creatures, it’s built to win off creatures hitting players in the dome, so board wipes can be difficult to recover from. Again, it’s B2, so obviously has some weaknesses. There is some built in protection from board wipes, but Grixis is not nearly as white or green can be. \n\nIf you wanted to make this B3 without the graveyard stax, consider tutors, free spells (Deflecting Swat and Fierce Guardianship), less MDFCs and more lands coming in untapped, and reliable treasure generation. \n\nRegarding the mana base … some of it is more reflective of B3. I tend to think a good mana base doesn’t make a deck “busted” but more consistent. This leads to better games. I play MDFCs as lands 80% of the time. That is why there are so many. \n\nit’s worth saying, even though Edea is a “nice” theft commander, inevitably you are taking what other players have built and turning it against them. This is not an experience many EDH players like to have on a regular basis. While Edea is much more tolerable than other theft commanders, she still takes other’s creatures. To help with this, try and play political. Go after the main threat, offer to wipe the counters off a big creature, don’t hit someone with their own creatures until you have to, or offer them an extra ETB benefit. \n\nLast note, it is VERY fun to kill someone with commander damage … with their own commander. \n\n\n"}]}
