The goal of the deck design is to do the \"reanimator thing\" while also being able to play a balanced, interactive game. Additionally, she gives us upside on Ideas Unbound and Starwinder's warp ability.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Fast Reanimation"},{"insert":"\nMy goal with this deck was to enable the core reanimator game plan - land fast, haymaker threats via the graveyard - while working to ensure the deck still feels good in strong, casual pods (bracket 3). To this end, let's talk fast mana. Dark ritual, Cabal Ritual, Gemstone Caverns, and Lotus Petal are in the deck to enable the nasty openers. Turn 1 we can go off with dark ritual or a lotus petal, plus entomb / reanimate. Ritual specifically gives us flexibility with 3 mana, allowing animate dead / exhume or unmarked grave to also be workable. Turn 2 cabal ritual can get us to 3, and fetches into surveil lands give alternate ways to grab hits. Vampiric Tutor, the one game changer in the list, is included mostly to top deck a reanimation target in response to the surveil trigger (\"we have entomb at home\"). Brainstorm lets us top deck something from hand in a similar fashion. Entomb, Unmarked Grave, and Vampiric tutor are in the deck mostly to feed our early reanimation lines as outlined above. Once out of the early turns, the deck usually wants to use our graveyard tutors to put Anger in the graveyard and give all our stuff haste. I've tried to balance the deck so that the fast mana lets it do the early reanimator thing without creating scenarios where the deck is able to put together wins faster than bracket expectations. Additionally, the deck does not - and in my opinion, should not - run sol ring. Sol ring lends fast starts, but colorless isn't super helpful in setting up early reanimation lines. This is another way we try to balance the inclusion of other fast mana tools. \n\n"},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Threats"},{"insert":"\nThe deck's threat package is built around it's bracket intent. I've tried to focus on card advantage, removal, and life gain, avoiding combo lines or reanimation wins that don't require combat to convert. Early Valgavoth or Archon is still going to be a massive problem, but we aren't looking to go for Hoarding Broodlord / saw in half lines or reanimate lock pieces like Gin Gitaxias or Sire of Insanity (Big Sheoldred and Archon are as close as we get here). If we get to choose a threat on turn 1, Reanimating Vilis to draw 8 or pulling Valgavoth to shut off other graveyard strategies is where we want to be. I've experimented with some burn inclusions (Kokusho, Gray Merchant, Terror of the Peaks) but have found that they make the deck feel more like combo and less like reanimator, which isn't what I'm going for. Chains end usually in mass copies via twinflame or sublime epiphany, and if we can set up Anger that's usually enough since we can often bounce most of the board as well. Hitting a ritual with decent storm count is key since we want to get into copying Mystic Confluence or Ephiphany which are mana hungry. Over the course of the game, the deck will accumulate a fair amount of permanents via playing rocks, making treasures, playing a sundial etc. Mirrorform can turn this state into a game ending swing out using an opponent's creature in a pinch. The key line here is turning your board into copies of Scrawling Crawler on a prior player's end step. This scales by a multiplier - each draw triggers a ping for each crawler (4 life at two crawlers, then 9, 16, 25, 36+) and is the deck's most \"out of nowhere\" winning line.
