{"ops":[{"insert":"Disappointed with MTG's Spider-Man set? Hate that there’s Spongebob fighting Sonic at your commander nights? Tired of being killed turn 5 by Slicer, the transformer you don't even remember from your childhood? Think nothing "},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"positive "},{"insert":"came out of universes beyond? Well this Mister Negative precon is for you.\n\nThis deck is an ode to the old, to the disgruntled; those who haven't seen Spider-Man since Toby McGuire was Peter Parker; those whose idea of heroes and villains in MTG include Liliana, Gideon, Gerrard, Urza, Nicol Bolas and Elesh Norn; those who recall battlecruiser EDH with commanders with crazy casting costs; those who do not simply enter, but enter "},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"the battlefield;"},{"insert":" those who are Mister Negative when it comes to UB; here's to you!\n\nThis decklist is a precon-style deck with Mister Negative as the commander, a battlecruisery Orzhov commander for a whopping 7 mana with a fun enters the battlefield trigger: Trade lives with an opponent and, if you lost life this way, draw that many cards. A tongue-in-cheek ode to those Negative on UB, this deck is intentionally left spider-lite while employing mechanically rare effects from magic's storied past. \n\nThere are two primary styles to play around this trigger: heavy lifegain/drain to try and create a life gap between you and an opponent so you can trade your life for cards when you play your commander; or, turbo self-drain life to set an opponent's life to a low (potentially 0 or negative) number when your commander enters. \n\nThis decklist explores both styles of play, with a heavy subtheme of rare effects to play for those who know that sometimes reading the card doesn't quite explain the card. Examples include using Tainted Remedy to turn your commander's gift of life into a gift of death, and using Pact Weapon to stay alive at or under 0 life and bringing the whole table down with you with a Repay in Kind. There's Sorin Markov and Tree of Perdition, some relatively unique ways to set an opponents life to a specific value; there's Wall of Blood and Unspeakable Symbol as a way to drain your own life; and there's a few flicker effects and a Panharmonicon to try and reuse some of the more powerful ETBs in the deck (including your commander's). \n\nThere should be enough ramp, lands, and early-mid game plays to keep the deck interesting and functional before Mister Negative comes out, and enough cool tech to keep the table on the edge of their seats as you dance with everyone's life totals. The deck list contains no game changers, has a few pricey cards as a precon might to entice people to buy for value as well as theme, but is overall around the normal value of modern precons. With a few staple pieces of each way you might want to play the deck, this precon serves as a great starting point for someone looking to dive into Mister Negative and tweak it to their liking - be it turbo life loss; large focus on lifegain and payoffs; flicker effects; the Sanguine/Exquisite-style combo cards; and more! \n\nHope you enjoy!
