But hey, apparently that isn't enough since you can pay zero mana to gain X mana equal to Vivi's power (and you can add any combination of red and blue mana), where you can only activate this effect once per turn, which makes it seem more balanced.\nIn terms of strengths, Vivi Ornitier just has everything. Seriously, this may well be one of the strongest Magic cards ever printed in recent times. It can not only ramp you ahead on mana, but also becomes stronger with no issues while also dealing damage to everyone as you're just going about your day as well. It does it all, what more could you want?\n\nVivi Ornitier's Weaknesses"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Technically, Vivi can be removed and has to be on the battlefield for it to \"do its thing\". Listen, we often mention how there's no built-in protection or something here, but you're playing blue and red cards. This means counterspells are plentiful, and even if someone tries to kill Vivi with any damage, you can just cast a couple of noncreature spells to fix the issue immediately.\n\nThe Best MTG Commander Archetypes for Vivi Ornitier"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"The best archetype for Vivi Ornitier are Spellslinger decks. You'll want to fill your deck with powerful noncreature spells and then just use those towards victory with Vivi on the battlefield. There are plenty of flavors fort this archetype, but many of them will end up feeling like Combo decks. You can lean into fairer versions of these decks by including some slower enchantments (for example), or you can build a Storm strategy and just call it a day.\n\nThe Best MTG Cards You Should Play With Vivi Ornitier"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"If you're hoping to build your very own Vivi Ornitier Commander deck, then it's worth looking at these cards as a starting point:\nThousand-Year Storm"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Curiosity"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Sigil of Sleep"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Veyran, Voice of Duality"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Stormcatch Mentor"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Ashling, Flame Dancer"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"Isochron Scepter"},{"attributes":{"list":"bullet"},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nHow to Play Vivi Ornitier in Commander"},{"attributes":{"header":2},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"The way you win with this Commander deck is by playing Vivi Ornitier and then just playing a bunch of noncreature spells. It certainly helps to have some win conditions in there, whether that's something like Grapeshot for Storm-style wins, Rite of the Dragoncaller to create Dragon tokens, or Crackle with Power to make the most of all of the mana you're going to generate. Given the emphasis on noncreature spells, we're going to discuss some of the incredible support cards for Vivi Ornitier.\nThousand-Year Storm kicks things off as a spell that is generally quite silly and has taken down many Commander games over the years. This enchantment allows you to copy an instant or sorcery as you cast it for each other instant or sorcery you've cast before it on that turn. So, if you cast two, you get to copy the second one once, number three is twice, and so on. This is just a lot of extra value, and it's good, clean Izzet fun.\n\nCuriosity, however, is less clean and fun (at least for your opponents). This aura enables you to draw a card whenever the enchanted creature deals damage to an opponent. It isn't limited to damage only, which means Vivi's one damage ping counts when triggering Curiosity. Sigil of Sleep is another aura that works quite well with Vivi, but this one lets you return a creature to its owner's hand when the enchanted creature deals damage to a player. It's pretty mean, but it's also a bit amusing.\n\nVeyran, Voice of Duality is another exciting addition, as it enables you to double any triggers caused by casting or copying an instant or sorcery. While we're unable to ramp through traditional means, being able to discount our spells is key with Vivi Ornitier, which is why we're adding the adorable Stormcatch Mentor to the fold. Retaining any excess mana we make is also ideal, where Ashling, Flame Dancer makes it so we don't lose our red mana as steps and phases end, but also triggers several effects whenever you copy or cast an instant or sorcery spell. Ashling is definitely something you'll want in your Spellslinger deck, because you can potentially end up with lots of spare mana.\n\nLastly, there's Isochron Scepter, an artifact that forces you to exile an instant from your hand with a mana value of two or less as it enters, and you can then pay two mana and tap it to copy that card and cast it for free. With the Scepter imprinted, this just lets you keep casting a Counterspell, a Magic Damper, or even a Fists of Flame on-hand for the entire game with no problems.\n"}]}
