Description
{"ops":[{"insert":"This deck is my love letter to all the mono black decks I played when I was a kid. It's what I wanted all those decks to be! I'm still tweaking this as I play it and as new stuff comes out but the shell and the core should basically remain the same. It's a blast to play as you feel like you really have two hands instead of just one. The basic premise is getting stuff in and stuff out of your graveyard. Hopefully upcycling in the process, getting value off of ETB's or cards that are going to allow you to get even more out of the yard.\n\nThe engine for this is obviously "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sidisi, Regent of the Mire"}},{"insert":" but there are a few other pieces that you usually can consistently find to push it to the next level. One of best pairings you can have out is Sidisi and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist"}},{"insert":". These two together with a healthy graveyard will allow you to get back answers to any of your problems turn over turn. Sidisi allowing you to sac a creature to get something out of your graveyard for that creatures CMC +1 means that Xu-Ifit is your way of ensuring you have the CMC you need on the field turn after turn. Her tap ability that allows you to pick anything out of your graveyard except it's a skeleton losing it's abilities is huge! And with multiple creatures that are sitting at 2 mana that bring their own recursion baked in such as, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Brood of Cockroaches"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Timeline Culler"}},{"insert":" mean that you can upcycle easily into Xu-Ifit if she should happen to end up in your graveyard.\n\nFilling your yard is part of the key here using cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Stitcher's Supplier"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Ripples of Undeath"}},{"insert":" to do so early and hopefully often. Ripples is also a great way to ensure your getting the cards into your hand turn after turn that you need to accelerate your plan. Missed a land drop no problem 1 mana and three life for a land, yes please. Speaking of lands in your graveyard that 's where the "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Crucible of Worlds"}},{"insert":" keeps you from milling out of mana as well. One of your MVP cards to get out at any point is "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tortured Existence"}},{"insert":" , letting you trade one creature card into your graveyard for another is great way to get something like Stitcher's , so you can recast it to get more stuff in the yard only to hopefully sac the Stitch for something else. It lets you filter between what your onboard tap to cast team needs in the graveyard to gain value and what your hand and lands need to keep casting.\n\nSo far we are talking small early game, but the overall goal is to get out huge nasty Demons that will just keep raining Chaos down on your opponents. Controlling the board with a "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dread Cacodemon"}},{"insert":" or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Reiver Demon"}},{"insert":" along with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Soldevi Adnate"}},{"insert":" and the Tortured Existence from earlier means late game you can keep the board clear until you have the win and you'll have the mana to do it reliably. Yeah by the time your opponents realize that this card was actually part of the problem the whole time it's already done it's job. Your \"mana rock\" that is sacrificing your own creatures less so, especially when it's just a three drop or a two drop your sacrificing. The deck has a lot of really high mana costs, being able to swap life for mana provides a zany amount of flexibility and value. Not to mention it's any black mana in ANY cost, so that's activated abilities as well. K'rrik is one of the cards to prioritize playing over others, it's impact on your board cannot be understated. The deck really only has two dedicated land tutors in "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Expedition Map"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Urza's Cave"}},{"insert":" both of which let you get any land, not just basics. The final piece of ramp i'll make mention of is "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Eternity Elevator"}},{"insert":" a mana rock with the Station ability (tap a creature put charge counters equal to power on to it). The speed at which you can power this on is wild. As you station it with whatever creatures you were planning on sacrificing anyway, then when you get your creature out of the graveyard you can go ahead and station it with that creature as well! Station is a cost your paying from The Eternity Elevator (or "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Susur Secundi, Void Altar"}},{"insert":") so your summoning sick creatures now have a job!\n\nThis seems like the perfect time to talk about the tutors in the deck, and will start with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Cynical Loner"}},{"insert":"! The final one is "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Demonic Bargain"}},{"insert":" (recently swapped it out cause i just kept seeing it every game, but you should run this card in this deck at least a few times it's fun!) which is the closest thing I have in here to an actual tutor and this is purely because it feels very on theme with so many Demons in the deck. Yes "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Demonic Tutor"}},{"insert":" would also fit on theme, and is an easy swap in if you want to amp the power up a bit more. Once "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Reiver Demon"}},{"insert":" has done it's thing for you don't be afraid to send him out with Sidisi to make way for Val.
