{"ops":[{"insert":"Now I know Golos is a banned card in commander, but here's the thing; the title of Tireless Pilgrim is a perfect fit for the player in Minecraft, the effect of entering and discovering new lands is very on brand, and the activated ability pretty effectively emulates endgame Minecraft where you just have enough resources to do almost anything you want. Now I know some people may have an issue with running Golos as a commander despite that, so I have Garth as a backup option. Garth's explanation is mostly that he summons a Shivan (Ender) Dragon.\n\nOn top of the controversial commander, the deck also runs some other cards that people may consider controversial for bracket 1. Firstly, and most notably, the deck runs a game changer card: Mox Diamond. To that, I say that diamonds in Minecraft are a valuable and powerful resource (and the 2 mana diamond mana rocks are all already in use in the deck). The other cards that some people might look twice at are four of the ABU duals: Badlands, Savannah, Taiga, and Tundra. Now that one might be less controversial, as they are quite literally biome names in Minecraft, but I know there are people out there who think expensive or powerful cards have no place in bracket 1.\n\nI am always looking for more cards that fit into the theme, but cuts are always tough. There are also likely a few cards that would be a stretch thematically, but I feel that I don't have perfect options for every part of Minecraft. For example, Scampering Surveyor and Compass Gnome; the former is my current card to personify a cartographer villager, and the latter is the compass item. I don't know of any cards that are map makers, hence the Surveyor, but with Compass Gnome, I figured having the card pull double duty as a compass and to be a part of the caving subtheme. My other option if I ever decided to change that one would likely be Thaumatic Compass. One of the other cards that I am looking to find a better stand-in for is the Enderman. Skyclave Shade is a fine card for this, as Endermen are sort of shade-adjacent creatures; however, I would love to find something more representative of an Enderman.\n\nSome of my favorite translations from Minecraft to MtG are the Creeper (making it a spell effect rather than a creature because the Creepers blow up as well has having an appropriate name), the Warden (previously Relic Golem, now The Ancient One, as creatures that are massive but don't present a threat unless conditions are met), the Ender Dragon (There And Back Again is a great stand-in for the story of finding the stronghold to go to the End and fight the dragon, while Bone Dragon represents the ability to resummon the Ender Dragon and fight it again and again), Skeleton Archer (literally the name of the mob and the card), and Trial Chamber (the card Echo Chamber summons a copy of an enemy creature, just as the Trial Chamber spawners summon enemies).\n\nSome other choices that may require additional explanation:\n\tNeurok Stealthsuit: Simply speaking, these are Swift Sneak leggings. I would not mind finding a better equipment to showcase legguards, but for now this is what I've got.\n\tKaldra Pieces: Obviously these represent their respective pieces of gear, but it goes further than this. Kaldra is my deck's representation of Herobrine, the urban legend character that haunts your single player world.\n\tSkithiryx: Now some Minecraft players may understand why this is the card to personify the Wither, but for those who don't: a Wither will absolutely demolish you if you aren't prepared, and it regenerates health if you can't kill it quickly.\n\nThe last thing I feel that I need to explain is the deliberate exclusion of Aggressive Mining from the maindeck. Now I am aware that this card was designed by one of the guys who made Minecraft, but I have issues with the card's design as a card depicting Minecraft. The inability to play lands is antithetical to the terraforming and block placement of Minecraft, so I immediately decided that the card would not be included.\n\nThe Maybeboard is full or cards I either wanted to include but couldn't, or cards I cut for better fits.\n"}]}
