He also has built in card draw allowing you to snowball into a million walls and overrun your opponents. Overall i think the low mana curve, big creatures, easy colors, combat focused wins, cheap price, and card draw make this a great deck for new players.\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"For this new player focused deck, I went with green and white elves, focusing on a go wide strategy with Aragorn and Arwen, Wed at the helm.\nI believe that for a new player, the most important thing for them to enjoy the game, is being able to play a lot of things and feel like they're actively participating in the game. Green provides this very well, with plenty of mana to play whatever you draw, as well as cards like tribute to the world tree and guardian project allowing constant card draw.\nThe white adds very good removal to allow the new player to interact with the game state, as well as some protection and lifegain, although the lifegain is primarily from the commander, who isn't fully required for the deck's game plan, but doesn't hurt.\nI very intentionally excluded popular ramp spells as well as fetch lands, as I feel like constantly shuffling your deck would turn a new player off the game as it can become tedious. Additionally I didn't add any cards that require you sacrifice your own creatures or pay any life, as despite the upsides cards like that can provide, may not be intuitive for a new player.\nThe main issue with this deck I feel like is the price, with it falling around €120-€150, which is a bit of a high price for a new player to enter the game. However if this deck is bought by an experienced player FOR a new player to loan, that would be less of an issue.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/8720347"},"insert":"https://archidekt.com/decks/8720347"},{"insert":"\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"This deck is designed to be handed to someone learning the game but I must state first and foremost that while the current design is not exactly budget friendly, each and every expensive card is easily replaceable, as all effects found in the deck with perhaps the exception of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Ozolith"}},{"insert":"/"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Resourceful Defense"}},{"insert":" have been printed on numerous cheap cards. There are also numerous third-party services wherein people can play the game without spending a dime.\n\nWith that in mind, the deck serves as a synthesis of numerous popular mechanics to teach to new players while avoiding many parasitic effects that might make it more difficult to understand. Within are reanimator strategies, death triggers reminiscent of aristocrats, the ever-reprinted +1/+1 counters, and more. These all weave into one another with the goal of training the player to assemble a value engine, a key skill in becoming a proficient player. It also features several flashy and powerful cards, which can be an excellent draw. High mana-value bombs were one of the aspects of the game that pulled me in when I started over a decade ago, and they are still beloved by many today.\n\nHelming the deck are "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Nikara, Lair Scavenger"}},{"insert":" and her partner "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Yannik, Scavenging Sentinel"}},{"insert":", already illuminating the partner mechanic for future deckbuilding endeavors the new player might undertake. The deck functions as a \"recycling\" engine. It dishes out +1/+1 counters, sacrifices its creatures for value and more counters, uses replacer effects like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Branching Evolution"}},{"insert":" to make sure you're netting value with each sacrifice, and can even recur its pieces to do it all over again. Many of the death trigger effects produce an army of tokens to place yet more counters on, so in spite of your sacrifices you are still left with a board. This strategy helps cement the idea that both life (thanks to loss on Nikara's draw trigger) and permanents can be expendable as long as they produce enough value to let you seize victory, which is an important concept to grasp in becoming a more adept player. Each card plays into this strategy, many in multiple avenues, and allows the player to understand the power that synergy can produce, rather than throwing a pile of generically great cards at them that barely interact with one another. It seeks to close out the game conventionally through combat, so as to not overwhelm the new player with alternate win conditions and such.\n\nThe deck's ramp pieces, with the exception of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rampant Rejuvenator"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Honored Hierarch"}},{"insert":", which provide other helpful synergies, are playable turn 1 in order to allow Nikara to come down on turn 2. This helps the player get their strategy online faster, and simultaneously shows them of the importance of curving. I picked Abzan colors because they are heavy on versatile removal, ramp, and powerful board wipes. I made an effort to make many of these pieces synergistic as well. Mana dorks provide additional bodies that can be grown into real threats throughout the game, and Hierarch and Rejuvenator even put counters on themselves, which make up for their inability to get that turn 2 Nikara. {"ops":[{"insert":"When I first started playing EDH and as I've taught the game to friends and family I've noticed a few key points that new players love playing and can play well: Kindred synergy, Big combats, and lots of cool cards. So I decided to take a creature type I've considered brewing for a while and make it both budget and beginner friendly!\n\nThis Jirina Humans deck has a simple goal: go wide and hit face. Jirina gives a much appreciated buff to humans in the deck, and has a decent payoff if cast multiple times from the command zone. However, the deck doesn't need her in play to operate well.\nThe deck is designed to overwhelm opponents in combat, with a good amount of anthems, token generators, and protection spells in ensure you can swing in safely and for big damage. There's also a few pinger cards, plenty of targeted removal, and a strong mana base for a deck under 70 dollars!\n\nSince the true wincon of the deck centered around lots of hard hitting creatures, and the creature interactions are all centered around humans, it's simple to pick up and understand the game plan. The deck has some more complicated ideas such as creature sacrifice and diplomacy with some universal anthems, but aren't too complicated to understand and not necessary to the main strategy.\n\nThis deck strikes a nice balance between power, theme, and ease of play. Its emphasis on combat and Human synergies makes it enjoyable and satisfying, especially for players who are just getting into the format or game in general.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/8738187"},"insert":"Jirina Humans"},{"insert":"\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"The deck I am submitting is titled Big Plants! This is a Gruul landfall deck that messes around with counters, plants and the occasional fling spell. I am fairly new to magic myself so my goal was to make a deck that people could pick up and play with very little knowledge but one that also rewards you for taking the time to think out plays and sequencing to get the most value out of your cards. This allows for new players to still enjoy the game while also finding ways to improve themselves and think back on how they might have been able to navigate a situation in a different way. The landfall mechanic allows the player to never feel like they are falling behind in ramp and Phylath is a great board wipe recovery commander since he makes an army of plants whenever he comes back in, meaning that as long as the player has mana, they can always be doing something on the board. I also think budget is incredibly important, when I started playing I would not even consider a deck above $100 so I made sure to keep the deck below that mark while still having some really fun commander staples in the deck list. Overall I do not believe this deck to be the strongest but I think it will consistently perform and allow for new players to have a lot of fun getting to know the game and all the lovely interactions.
