{"ops":[{"insert":"Growing up, one of my absolute favorite comfort movies as a kid was Studio Ghibli's \"The Cat Returns.\" From beginning to end, it's whimsical, fun, quirky, and even has its \"wow\" moments where somehow in a movie about a girl being transported to the Cat Kingdom in an ill-conceived marriage plot, they manage to fit in the cool factor. That cool factor is what draws the protagonist, Haru, to the Baron, who, in the vein of another staple of my childhood, Guenhwyvar of The Legend of Drizzt, pulls off a cat statuette come-to-life being badass. Together with the ragtag team of the Baron and another unconventional cat, Muta, Haru navigates throughout the film slowly improving her self-worth and confidence. \n\nThis deck mirrors Haru's renewed bravery in being herself at the end of the movie by stepping out of the traditional Cat kindred color identities and into Boros with a bunch of probably questionable inclusions. Helming the deck is the new "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Ajani, Nacatl Pariah // Ajani, Nacatl Avenger"}},{"insert":", a stand-in for the Baron as I believe Haru would most certainly want him as a general. Since the selection of decent cats in Boros colors is pretty thin, I built the deck with several supporting mechanics to flesh out the cast of cats that sits front and center. I made sure to take advantage of the equipment synergies of some of the cats, including many red equipments to double as a way to turn on the Ajani, Nacatl Avenger's second ability. Taking advantage of the fact that cats are small and easy to deploy in numbers, I focused a card draw suite around attacking with multiple creatures in combat, allowing me to dig for the smaller number of cats I have thanks to a lack of green. Finally, I included a bunch of other Ajanis and proliferate cards, which interact favorably with both my planeswalkers and the +1/+1 counters distributed across the board by my commander.\n\nFor interaction, I have always preferred versatile removal spells that can hit all kinds of things, and this deck is no exception.
