Attack with Kalamax (at which point he becomes tapped) and then double up your next combat trick with his triggered ability. Because of this, you're able to easily take my creatures and buff them absurdly high. I also have cards that make your creatures unblockable, have trample, and have flying! How do you get these cards? Tutoring, of course! Additionally, there are cards that can take some counters and put them on other creatures as well. Finally, as if all of that wasn't enough, the deck has Nissa, Who Shakes the World and can buff lands (now creature lands) absurdly high with +1/+1 counters. Yay. Also, every time you proliferate (which is every turn, because of Atraxa), you put a ton of +1/+1 counters on all creature you control with +1/+1 counters on them (I lost count of how many +1/+1 counters per turn, but I think it's around 80 or so per creature lol).\n\nSheesh. {"ops":[{"insert":"https://archidekt.com/decks/2891986#Kalamax_the_Combat_Trick_Master_-_Archidekt_June_2022_Contest\n\nFor this month's contest I have taken the Commander 2020 precon \"Arcane Maelstrom\" to upgrade. Sticking with Kalamax, the Stormsire as the commander I decided to cut a lot of the non-synergistic token cards put in for Xyris, and then started working on how to take Kalamax in a direction other than simple storm or spellslinger. And I decided the best way to go that can still make full effect of his copy ability was through a type of card rarely used in commander, combat tricks. Using combat tricks along with voltron pieces like whispersilk cloak, we can hit in unblocked and then pump Kalamax not just once, but twice, as well as the counter added by his own effect. And since we will be swinging in, adding pieces that tap Kalamax become less important and let us focus more completely on our gameplan.\n"}]}

This wicked retrofit puts Shorikai at the helm instead of Kotori, and with that its hatred, its malice, and its will to dominate all life. This deck excels at choking the ability of others to play the game while reaching for a combo win with Intruder Alarm in an insidious fashion . 75 of the original cards of Buckle Up may remain in the list, but rather than swinging with beefy vehicles you're now tapping down the world, taxing plays to hell, and ramping like an absolute madman towards an instant victory that can genuinely manifest itself on the board with little to presage it.
