A tribal anthem with vigilance enabling has a hard time competing with free recursion, ETB card draw, damage doubling, a free creature, a mana dork that makes 5 mana, and reducing the cost on activated abilities, but I think we should give Kaheera another look!\n\n"},{"insert":{"card-link":"Kaheera, the Orphanguard"}},{"insert":" is a great companion for this deck, which contains mostly big flying elementals like the ever popular "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Stratozeppelid"}},{"insert":" and who could forget good ol' "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Eon Frolicker"}},{"insert":". With vigilance, these fliers can get in damage throughout the game without worrying about crackbacks, knowledge that will make your opponents regret underestimating you, Kaheera, and/or vigilance (probably all three). To close out the game, we use "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Craterhoof Behemoth"}},{"insert":" effects (including the fattie himself, since he's a literal beast!), especially the often forgotten "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Titanic Ultimatum"}},{"insert":". If you wanted to build this in paper, you could change up the manabase to make it more affordable, and it shouldn't be an issue if you use plenty of untapped dual lands. I hope I won't be disqualified for using expensive cards, because I tend to build the end goal of a deck and then work towards building it rather than building decks using only cards I currently have.\n"}]}

DaveLists 2 years{"ops":[{"insert":"So, did you know "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Zirda, the Dawnwaker"}},{"insert":" is actually a blue enchantment named "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Training Grounds"}},{"insert":"?\n\nFor this contest I took that concept and ran with it, making a Boros deck that does its best to pretend to be a mono blue deck, complete with a dozen counterspells, artifact shenanigans, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Time Stop"}},{"insert":", and a primary wincon of taking infinite turns for 2 mana each. \nEvery element of the deck revolves around zirda - from equip costs, to activated abilities and tutors, to land abilities, the companion is a key part of the deck running effects under cost and getting ahead. The equipment subtheme also provides protection with akiri, and zirda makes "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sunforger"}},{"insert":" absolutely gross. Zirda's tap ability is even useful, helping an equipped creature get through for some key triggers.\n\nThis list is one of my weirdest and dearest creations, so I hope ya'll can enjoy it as much as I do - nothing confuses a table as much as the boros player casting 2-mana timewalks with multiple counterspells on backup.\n\n"},{"attributes":{"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/2411329#I_AM_A_BLUE_DECK_Contest_Entry"},"insert":"https://archidekt.com/decks/2411329#I_AM_A_BLUE_DECK_Contest_Entry"},{"insert":"\n"}]}
