From new commanders for familiar archetypes, to commanders that enable brand new strategies, there are plenty of options to choose from. Choco, Seeker of Paradise is a fresh option for the burgeoning Bird decks, while Freya Crescent might breath new life into an old Equipment deck. The Wandering Minstrel works with a new land sub-type, while Zidane, Tantalus Thief is an effect we've never really seen before.\n\nBut new commanders aren't the only thing to be excited about. Powerful new Equipment like Buster Sword and Black Mage's Rod can easily form the centerpiece of a deck. Final Fantasy has also introduced lands with Adventure spells, which means you can now recur actual spells with Life from the Loam.\n\nThere are also plenty of opportunities to get a little weird. Hope Estheim brings mill and lifegain together, the combination we didn't know we needed. Dragons also got a new commander, in a new color combination, thanks to Estinien Varlineau. But I love the enthusiasm this new set has injected for a lot of people. And there are some super fun cards to build with in this set. This deck is constructed around Black Waltz No. 3, which I can see becoming a popular spellslinger commander. \n\nI had, of course, originally started building a Black Waltz No. 3 spellslinger deck. But after a while, I decided it would be would be fun to build into an enchantment-based goad deck with a burn and drain sub-theme. After all, enchantments are noncreature spells. If you can win a game with Repercussions pinging everyone down, then casting Exsanguinate in the endgame, why not? \n\nLet everyone duke it out at the table, I say. The strong can come to the top. We'll deal with them later. Not to mention, it'll be hard to swing over this way with so many of your big creatures having no choice but to go elsewhere. \n"}]}

{"ops":[{"insert":"Hello all, I decided for this particular deck building challenge to focus on the (according to EDHrec) number 2703 ranked commander from this set, Freya Crescent! As of now on EDHrec there are only 7 decks built around this particular card and so I figured it would be perfect to build around. Now, obviously the strategy is early game voltron shenanigans but with Freya at the helm each game will begin at a lighting fast pace. Commander turn one, equip and attack on turn two. With plenty of low cost equipments that pack a serious punch this deck seeks to finish games the way red does best, blistering and unrelenting assault! Also, not for nothing but when removing the cost of the basic lands from consideration the deck itself comes to just over 50 dollars which makes this a pretty reasonably approachable deck. If there are any new comers who are looking for a solid deck with a mono-red flare then this deck is perfect for you! Of course there are plenty of options to choose from for upgrades, but with a focus on cards from this set and the price considerations in mind, this deck strikes a hard balance between being fun and engaging to play on the one hand and pretty easy on the wallet on the other! \n\nhttps://archidekt.com/decks/13597382/freya \n"}]}

From keeping things from untapping with Time of Ice or abusing the blue Summon sagas and proliferate to keep stun counters on everything. Getting extra draw, having opponents sacrifice highest cost CMC creatures, gaining control of artifacts, creating hex-proof 8/8 Krakens or */* Constructs, there's plenty of possibilities in this deck!\n\nThe wincons are getting Bahamut into play and getting to the Megaflare or getting to 1000 time counters on the Millennium Calendar (which is not as difficult as I had expected - several wins using it). Oh, and there's always a bit of Marit Lage to beat your opponents with too!\n\nIn any case, enjoy!!! "},{"attributes":{"bold":true},"insert":"Oh-Ah-Ah-Ah!!!"},{"insert":"\n\n"},{"insert":{"video":"https://www.youtube.com/embed/09LTT0xwdfw?showinfo=0"}},{"insert":"\n\n\n\n"}]}

The default build for Vivi seems to be a spellslinger-style build that aims to cast a lot of spells, use VIvi to create a burst of mana, and then cast a lot more spells before ending the turn. While this play pattern has a very high power ceiling, it is very vulnerable to Vivi getting removed, as it takes a lot of resources to re-build Vivi's power. This is why I was drawn to brewing an equipment-focused Vivi deck that uses equipment as a way to \"store\" power even if Vivi gets removed. We can then re-equip our equipment and re-activate Vivi's mana ability, meaning our bounce spells can essentially become rituals.
