As always, submissions will be judged on creativity and originality."},{"insert":"\n\nFinal Fantasy adds a whopping 162 brand new commanders to Magic. From new commanders for familiar archetypes, to commanders that enable brand new strategies, there are plenty of options to choose from. Choco, Seeker of Paradise is a fresh option for the burgeoning Bird decks, while Freya Crescent might breath new life into an old Equipment deck. The Wandering Minstrel works with a new land sub-type, while Zidane, Tantalus Thief is an effect we've never really seen before.\n\nBut new commanders aren't the only thing to be excited about. Powerful new Equipment like Buster Sword and Black Mage's Rod can easily form the centerpiece of a deck. The new Summons lend a lot of support to Historic and Saga decks, especially powerful finishers like Summon: Primal Odin. Final Fantasy has also introduced lands with Adventure spells, which means you can now recur actual spells with Life from the Loam.\n\nThere are also plenty of opportunities to get a little weird. Hope Estheim brings mill and lifegain together, the combination we didn't know we needed. Dragons also got a new commander, in a new color combination, thanks to Estinien Varlineau. This deck is centered around enabling the new rebels we find in the new set and remixes them with a good old fashioned rebel-chain from Mercadian Masques. The deck has a secret commander in Barret, Avalanche Leader, and utilizes a rebel chain to consistently find him or rescue him from the graveyard. Supporting that is an equipment sub-theme to bring out the equipment-based gameplay from the more recent rebel theme. Buster Swords, Swords of X and Y and Bloodforged Battle-Axe all make sure the rebel army is good and equipped for the fighting ahead.\n"}]}

About to lose a creature? It's fine, put those counters elsewhere. You're Yuna's Guardian this time, keep her safe the deck will continue to chug on. \n\nBe sure to read the description of the deck for a few laughs and some suggestions of what to add outside of the Final Fantasy universe. \n"}]}

My Deck is all about using the Job Select Mechanic to get out Hero Tokens and then buff them using one of the many Cids. Since we got 15 different Artworks of Cid there have to 15 Cids + the Freeflier from the Commander Set, for a total of 16 Cid Cards. Since the Job Select Cards are mostly Artifacts this Deck in it's core is an artifact Deck which is especially good with Cid, since many synsergistic Cards for Artifacts are Artifact Creatures or Artificers themselve, so the either profit from Cid or make him perform better.\n\nG'raha as the Commander supports the Theme by creating Hero Tokens and buffing them when playing non creature spells and since all the Job Select Cards I use are artifacts they produce not one but two Hero Tokens, one equipped, one buffed by G'raha. With 25 Creatures the Deck looks a litte bit heavy on the creature side for a noncreature commander, but mostly Cid will be cycled to get additional Power to all Heroes, which makes it a lot easier to get to the non creature Spells.\n\nThe Deck is a bit on a lower Power Level but the few Games I had with it where a ton of fun and I really love to play around Cid and the Job Select Mechanic and I am definitely hoping for some Heroes in the Marvel Set that might fit to it, even though I definitely plan to have the core be Cid and the Job Select Mechanic. It's a really enjoyable Deck using the Final Fantasy Set!\n"}]}

{"ops":[{"attributes":{"link":"https://archidekt.com/decks/13112311/brand_of_the_lcie"},"insert":"Brand of the l'Cie"},{"insert":"\n\nHere is my submission, a self-mill and recursion deck built with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Vanille, Cheerful l'Cie"}},{"insert":" in the command zone but built around "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Fang, Fearless l'Cie"}},{"insert":" and other similar cards. The deck's primer goes a lot more in depth, but the plan is to mill, recur, get value for doing so and then drown our opponents in said value... or tokens, or life drain, or the Meld.\n\nI apparently have a thing for Graveyard/Reanimation focused Meld pairs, because as soon as I saw Vanille and Fang I knew that I had to build a deck around them and their final form: "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Ragnarok, Divine Deliverance"}},{"insert":".\n\nDue to... you know, the rules of the format, Vanille has to be our commander if we want one half of the Meld pair in the command zone. I briefly thought of making this a "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Grist, Voracious Larva // Grist, the Plague Swarm"}},{"insert":" deck and just throwing the l'Cie into the insect pit, but we can make Vanille work. She is basically a Grapple with the Past on legs - milling two cards and then getting us any permanent from our graveyard (GY). This synergizes with Fang, who pings us for one and draws us a card whenever a card leaves our GY.\n\nI basically took this foundation - milling and benefiting from cards leaving our GY - and built around it. I started by introducing Vanille to her fellow Grapple with the Past clones - "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Takenuma, Abandoned Mire"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Cache Grab"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dredger's Insight"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Overlord of the Balemurk"}},{"insert":" - as well as some general self-mill and surveil cards such as "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Stitcher's Supplier"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Ripples of Undeath"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Grim Captain's Locker"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Kishla Village"}},{"insert":". From there, I grabbed as many of \"The Grims\" - cards that trigger when something leaves a GY - as I could find. This includes "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Defiled Crypt // Cadaver Lab"}},{"insert":", Insight, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Insidious Roots"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Desecrated Tomb"}},{"insert":", Fang, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Teval's Judgment"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Chalk Outline"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tormod, the Desecrator"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Amzu, Swarm's Hunger"}},{"insert":" and - the MVP himself - "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Syr Konrad, the Grim"}},{"insert":".\n\nThe next piece of the puzzle were the Reanimation and Recursion cards - the things that let us take advantage of all our self-mill and trigger our Grims. Admittedly, I went a little overboard here. The deck has 29 ways of getting stuff out of our GY and either to our hand or - preferably - the field. This includes classic reanimation like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Reanimate"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Animate Dead"}},{"insert":" as well as new cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rejoin the Fight"}},{"insert":" and even recursion to hand cards such as "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Dryad's Revival"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Creeping Renaissance"}},{"insert":".\n\nWith all of this, I think the skeleton of our strategy is obvious: self-mill with wild abandon, grabbing any key cards we can with our recursion pieces and hope to find one of the Grims to take advantage of this plan. If we find Fang, then we can try to go for Ragnarok to speed up our clock. We also have "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Thunderfoot Baloth"}},{"insert":" to turn a board of Grims and tokens into a lethal swing if it comes to that.\n\nThis strategy is supported by our vegetables (draw, ramp and removal) as well as specific card choices and synergies built into the deck.\n\nWhile our Grapple with the Past clones are our most synergistic pieces of card draw, we also run more traditional draw cards such as "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Black Market Connections"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Disciple of Freyalise // Garden of Freyalise"}},{"insert":". Three of our Grims - Fang, Teval's Judgement and Chalk Outline - draw us cards in some way when stuff leaves our GY. We also have some goodies from the Final Fantasy UB in the form of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Esper Origins // Summon: Esper Maduin"}},{"insert":" which acts as both draw and ramp in addition to fulfilling other roles. Finally, our land base comes in clutch with five utility lands providing us some kind of card advantage, including Takenuma, "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Castle Locthwain"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Geier Reach Sanitarium"}},{"insert":".\n\nWhile our mana curve is low to the ground and our average MV is 2.76, I still run 37 total lands and 15 pieces of ramp to ensure that we see some before or between our self-mill and so we can pay for Vanille's Meld cost without skipping our entire turn. We have the pretty standard Green ramp package of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sol Ring"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Arcane Signet"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Sakura-Tribe Elder"}},{"insert":", as well as "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Insidious Fungus"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Tangled Florahedron // Tangled Vale"}},{"insert":". We also run "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Bramble Familiar // Fetch Quest"}},{"insert":", "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Skull Prophet"}},{"insert":" and even "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Millikin"}},{"insert":" to keep the mill and the mana coming. Insidious Roots and Teval's Judgement represent our ramp Grims, while Final Fantasy has given us "},{"insert":{"card-link":"The Warring Triad"}},{"insert":" to round out our ramp package.\n\nI will say, originally I dropped the ball on removal a bit. I got so lost in the sauce of recursion pieces that I only found space for 9 pieces of removal... and two of them are the deathtouch creatures Grist (he did make it to the party) and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Deathcap Cultivator"}},{"insert":". We also have the staples of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Feed the Swarm"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Beast Within"}},{"insert":", an MDFC land in the form of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Fell the Profane // Fell Mire"}},{"insert":" and the very synergistic includes of "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Rise of the Witch-king"}},{"insert":" and Insidious Fungus. "},{"attributes":{"strike":true},"insert":"I will happily accept any and all recommendations for adding more removal to this deck."},{"insert":" After some test games and looking at other people's list, I found some dual use edict and recursion cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Deadly Brew"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Danse Macabre"}},{"insert":", as well as the ever flexible "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Witherbloom Command"}},{"insert":", "},{"attributes":{"strike":true},"insert":"bringing my total amount of removal up to 12"},{"insert":". However, that also wasn't enough - and I had no way around indestructible creatures - so I reached for some board wipes. While this is a creature focused, board presence based deck, having two emergency buttons isn't a bad idea, plus "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Toxic Deluge"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Blasphemous Edict"}},{"insert":" can trigger Konrad. On a more... likely note, we stand a good chance of rebuilding faster than anyone else thanks to all our recursion pieces.\n\nAs for the small synergies, we have "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Revitalizing Repast // Old-Growth Grove"}},{"insert":" (alongside "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Heroic Intervention"}},{"insert":") as a piece of protection for our key creatures - such as the Meld pair - that also acts as land if needed. Then there is "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Riftsweeper"}},{"insert":", who can get back Fang in the admittedly unlikely event where we get out Ragnarok and it is exiled but the game isn't over. We also have two straight to graveyard tutors - "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Buried Alive"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Vile Entomber"}},{"insert":" - to find key pieces ("},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"cough"},{"insert":" Fang, Konrad "},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"cough"},{"insert":") for later reanimation. Finally, we have "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Argoth, Sanctum of Nature"}},{"insert":" to self-mill and create blockers... so we also run "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Titania, Voice of Gaea"}},{"insert":" just so I can try to get two Meld creatures out at once.\n\nI also want to shout out "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Town Greeter"}},{"insert":" from the FF set. It is the most synergistic version of Satyr Wayfinder for this deck - since it mills you and then grabs a land from among the milled cards out of your graveyard.
