Those hoops are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, however, especially once the Flame Fusillade effect is online.\n\nThe stars of the show are the Flame Fusillade effects. These effects turn all of our creatures into pingers for 1 (sometimes even 2) damage. To maximize the chances that we will find one of these cards, I added all the reasonable red tutors. There were only two that I could play in good conscience and one of them is kind of stretching my conscience, but it feels necessary to play "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Giant Harbinger"}},{"insert":" to get "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Furystoke Giant"}},{"insert":".\nNext, to maximize the effectiveness of the cards, I added a healthy density of token generating threats that on their own can generate a small army of tokens in a couple of turns. Cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Squee, Dubious Monarch"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Varchild, Betrayer of Kjeldor"}},{"insert":" provide us with the creatures necessary over a few turns (varchild is especially quick, generating three tokens every time it connects).\nOnce we have a fusillade effect online, we can typically get the untap effect from Eomer on demand through targeting one of our weaker legends with a ping or two after it has attacked. This doubles our damage output, making Eomer a strong play but not a strictly necessary one.\nThere are also some cards that go well with the fusillade effects on their own, with "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Pili-Pala"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Farmstead Gleaner"}},{"insert":" turning our mana into damage if we have a Furystoke Giant or a "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Lightning Volley"}},{"insert":". We can also take out larger creatures sometimes using "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Basilisk Collar"}},{"insert":" , though that isn't particularly reliable.\n\nLuckily, because we are making tokens, the deck doesn't need to rely on the fusillade effects, instead being able to damage opponents through attacks directly (who would have thought!) Although, this leads to a somewhat less interesting rollout in my opinion and also has a harder time dealing with blockers, so a flame fusillade or two is generally advised.\n\nMost of the vegetables in this deck are themed so that they can be untapped by Eomer or otherwise benefit from Eomer. Cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Moria Marauder"}},{"insert":" and "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Grenzo, Havoc Raiser"}},{"insert":" can provide good amounts of value to get the ball rolling, but even a simpler "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Stromkirk Occultist"}},{"insert":" can get the job done in a pinch. Even the mana dorks can get untapped to allow you to cast more spells in a single turn.\nThe draw is pretty necessary because you need to get to the fusillade effects. The ramp is slightly less necessary, but I still opted to include a good amount because I wanted to play cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Hateflayer"}},{"insert":" which require a lot of mana investment, plus the deck is moderately mana hungry, requiring 9ish mana to really do what it wants to do. The interaction is mostly focused on artifacts, but there is still some creature interaction. The hope for the deck is that the fusillade effects take care of most of the creature interaction on their own, acting as a pseudo one-sided board wipe.\n\nThis deck is generally quite vulnerable to board wipes (despite trying to stitch together ones itself), but there are some steps to mitigate their effectiveness. Firstly, not "},{"attributes":{"italic":true},"insert":"all"},{"insert":" of the vegetables benefit from Eomer, as to benefit it usually requires them to be creatures. Some cards like "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Nexus of Becoming"}},{"insert":" allow us to press advantage that won't be swept away by a simple board wipe, although "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Farewell"}},{"insert":" will still get you as it would for most decks. Secondly, a lot of the token production and card draw is wrapped up in single card value engines, which means that you can commit less of your card resources to the board and only really lose tempo resources when you do eventually get board wiped. None of these cards will win you the game on their own in today's commander, but they will make sure you have a consistently ramping board state as you try to find your fusillade effects. The final way to mitigate board wipes is through "},{"insert":{"card-link":"Goblin Bombardment"}},{"insert":" but that is mostly a last-ditch effort more than anything.\n"}]}
